A Few Of Oprah’s Favorite Things: Are They A Few Of Your Favorite Things?

How awesome is it when Oprah does her Favorite Things episode? I swear I love seeing all those chicks in the audience going buck freaking wild when she says she’s giving them a tin of popcorn or a moisturizer, I mean you get the same reaction with the popcorn as you do when she says she’s giving away a free car. It’s screaming and tears and sobbing and OMGZZZZZZZ all over the damn place, hells some people fall down and convulse in excitement. Popcorn, car, whatever it’s Oprah and those women are all about Oprah and the swag!

Today, I was reading Bargain Swaps for Oprah’s Favorites on Total Beauty and I was wondering HOW many of those favorite things match up with my own?

Jump ahead to take a little quiz to see how many of Oprah’s favs are some of yours!

Favorite Thing Number 1
Clarins SPF 30 Sunscreen Cream

Naaa. I love me some Clarins but SPF 30 isn’t for me. I prefer a higher SPF to be honest even if, in most cases, SPF 30 is more than adequate sun protection.

Favorite Thing Number 2
Kai Body Butter and Buffer

Never even heard of this brand to be honest so can’t say if it would be my favorite thing!

Favorite Thing Number 3
Clarisonic Skin Care System

I’ve been retesting the waters with Clarisonic and I gotta say I likey what I see so far, so yes I could see this as a favorite thing!

Favorite Thing Number 4
Yves Saint Laurent Blush Variation

Quite a nice blush from YSL but not sure I’d deem it a fav!

Favorite Thing Number 5
Claus Porto Soaps from Lafco New York

I love Claus Porto Soaps from Lafco! A little pricey but lovely none the less. Not a fav to be honest but definitely as close to a fav as one can get!

Favorite Thing Number 6
NARS Cosmetics Kabuki Artisan Botan Brush

I love a good makeup brush in my life and I’m a fond believer of splurging on good brushes however NARS Kabuki is $75, a little above my brush budget…could it be a fav? Dunno, I doubt it, seems rather big and cumbersome to me. I do wonder if Oprah even applies her own makeup that she’s sitting around deeming brushes her fav…come on Oprah fess up when was the last time you applied your own makeup?

Favorite Thing Number 7
Clé de Peau Lipstick

I can’t afford to indulge my sweet tooth for more than the two Cle de Peau Lipsticks in my stash as they ran me a whopping $52 bucks each! However, I sure wish I could as they are dreamy as hell, loves ’em, def a fav!

How about you?

Any of Oprah’s favs match up to your favs?

Share it!

Oprah has a long way to go before she hits pay dirt on my favorite lists but you can check through my archives to see what my Fab Favs have been lately!

This post really made me LOL! Actually I do not own any of those things but I always love to see what she comes up with : )

    • the Muse

hehe caroline glad I got a giggle out of you dear. I do too actually, it’s quite fun 😀 plus sometimes it introduces me to new stuff I never tried!

  • Su

only Clé de Peau Lipstick has potential to be my fav… I do not have some of the items but I am sure I won’t like soap as my skin just hate soap
tried YSL blush and NARS botan brush but I hate them..the brush is too huge so it is more suitable for body but applying yourself on body is really tiring so unless you are a makeup artist I feel don’t bother to get it and blush I think it is not worth the price…I am using clarins spf 30 eye cream…it is drying so i am not going to try for face ( i don’t know clarins just don’t get along with me lol)

Hi happy monday – I have the clarisonic and loves it verwee much. I don’t really have an interest in Clarins skin care- just doesn’t draw me. However total beauty’s suggestion for neutrogena sun screen, is awesome. (I use the oil free one they talked about.) The YSL powder I might need. The botan brush is yucky- checked it at a counter when it was “new”. I can get two Chanel lippies for the price of one Cleau so I’ll pass – Oh and soaps – In addition to my lush collection i still have a beacuoup assortment of handmade soaps from my trip to France- nothing better than the real deal.

melissa it’s Tuesday LOL! but happy Monday and Tuesday my dear 😀 Neutrogena’s sun screen rocks for sure 😀 I never did get a chance to see the NARS botan in person as after finding out how large it was I lost interest 😀

aw hells yes, french milled soap=BLISS!

Oprah makes me cringe. Don’t you just love how all of her favorite things are too expensive for the average consumer? I’m sorry but she’s way out of touch with her audience. If she really wants to connect with today’s woman she should do “My Favorite Rationally Priced Things”. We live in a country that’s teetering on the verge of economic collapse and she’s endorsing $75 kabuki brushes. Sorry for the rant but geeze!

    • the Muse

mmm jerseygrrrl I fear I sometimes review/recommend costly skincare/makeup so I’d feel rather badly agreeing but I def see your point hun!!!!!!!

      • jerseygrrrl78

Yes, but dear Muse, you cover the spectrum from extravagant to budget friendly and dish the dirt from a hands-on perspective without prompting from sponsors. I can’t say that I believe Oprah has ever even used any of those products, I mean really, when was the last time she applied her own makeup, LOL! BTW…I think your rain travelled West, overnight it went from being 70 and sunny to 59 and rainy here in SoCal!

        • the Muse

aw thanks jerseygril *hugs* I try! I like to keep variety around around here!!!!!!!!!!!!! *hugs* thanks for such a fab comment/compliment!

LOL I couldn’t agree more I doubt oprah uses some of the items she recs! lol sorry! LOL we got 65 today lol

    • Promise

I completely agree!!!! Why isn’t she endorsing a kabuki brush like one I saw in an Avon catalog last night for $6!!! I mean, come on. I would get sick if I knew I spent almost $100 on a make-up brush!!!! My fiancee and I could eat out on that for 2 weeks or more!!!

  • Phyrra

The clarisonic mia in pink is one of my favorite things 🙂
The rest of that stuff, not me.

  • Comrade_Garlic

At least a sunblock is on the list. Maybe it will help persuade more people to wear it every day.

  • Fabiola

Lol, I love those moments when Oprah says everyone needs to look under their chair or everyone’s going home with a xxx. The screaming, the clapping, the yelling, hilarious! It’s as if Oprah has announed Jesus Christ Himself is the next guest after the break. None of Oprah’s favourites are on my list, though. I get the feeling Oprah’s budget is teensy bit larger than mine hehe :-D.

    • the Muse

omg fabiola, dude, I laugh so hard! hells yes it’s like the second coming for the people in the audience! I thought even donald trump’s budget is itty bitty compared to oprah, doesn’t she own the planet now?

  • BV

Oprah wears cashmere pajamas… too rich for my blood.
Mind you, I love my clarisonic and I adore the smell of Kai (think Hawaiian coconutty summers) but the other stuff? Not so sure…

I love lists like this though!!

    Thanks for the post
    BV

    • the Muse

LOL BV can’t say I wear cashmere pajamas 😀 I never smelled or heard of kai before but now I’m intrigued, Hawaiian coconut summer? yes please!

      Aw my pleasure!

  • Margaret

Hey, Musie, baby, http://www.beautyhabit.com sells kai and they have a sampling program.

It’s not *heavy* on the coconut, but it is very tropical, lots of gardenia and white flowers. Not sure if you would love it: I like it a lot and I’ve noticed you and I have very different tastes in fragrances!

    • the Muse

margaret you rock it, thanks! I never noticed beautyhabit sold it!!!!!!!!!! 😀 cheers! I’m up for trying it, my scent normally ranges to fruity/sweet but I can dig tropical floral 😀 thanks!

  • Christy

Nar increased their products by a dollar
    Ex blush = 25 now 26 -_-

  • lulee

i’m honestly suprised that some people are complaining about the price of the items on this list… oprah is a billionaire and if she was using anything other than a $75 kabuki brush i would be surprised. if she was raving about ecotools $5 kabuki brush i would complain that she wouldnt ever actually use it. oprah’s rationally priced things and our rationally priced things are NOT the same. i actually like that she has things that it sounds like she would actually use… lets be real oprah is not going to be trying drugstore makeup any time soon.

    • the Muse

hi lulee nope I doubt oprah shops drugstore….it was just a question of weather her favs are some of yours but obviously not I guess? 😀

      • lulee

hi muse, my comment wasn’t geared towards your post which was completely fair. instead i was surprised that some of the other commenters were complaining about the items on the list. i hate it when celebs say their fave mascara is great lash or their biggest beauty secret is drinking lots of water… we all know that they spend >$5 on their mascara and they get facials and all the latest and greatest to keep em looking like they do.

  • Chenni

I’m late on commenting on this post, but I love Kai fragrance. I have gone through two of their perfume, and currently on my second bottle of the perfume oil. The smell is very unique. To me it’s not a typical floral scent. It actually reminds me of lilac, but not too strong. Very springy. Every time I wore it, people always commented how nice it smelled. Just lovely. Btw, love your blog.

    • the Muse

chenni nice to hear you’re loving these 😀 aw and thanks so glad you enjoy my babbling!

  • Nikki

Well, I guess if she has the money why should she lie and say she likes cheap stuff better just to make her audience happy. She’s just being honest, if those products are her favorites than so be it. Heck, If I had as much money as Oprah I’d buy 60 dollar lipstick too and have them in every color 🙂
