Beauty Confessions: Hairy Situations

We all have flaws that bother us. Some folks have skin woes, some want to lose weight, some hate their unruly hair, etc…..As women we nitpick our features apart and yearn to change everything and anything.

But let’s get really personal and discuss hair. As in confess hairy situations……

Hello, my name is the Muse and I have hairy brows. Gulp. As in if I don’t wax or thread I will be sporting a Lourdes uni-brow or looking all types of legendary Frida-like.

Seriously, I so would not admit this to anyone else other than you guys but the fact is my brows are hairy. If I let it go I will have one brow instead of two.

Ok, I confessed.

Now you have to embarrass yourself and confess your hairy situations.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. HA Muse you’re too funny. My beauty confession is I havent gotten my eyebrows waxed in over 3 1/2 weeks and yesterday instead of going to get them done I went home and ate pizza in my sweats..now im scaring small children

    • the Muse

LOL jasmine OMG lol are you sportin’ a unibrow!? PS I’ve been there when I get too busy to go and I swear small children run away screaming LOL

  • Tammy

We could be hairy eyebrow sisters!!!!! I swear I would have a SERIOUS unibrow if I never threaded or tweezed.

    • the Muse

tammy man me too. I am constantly plucking! any stray hair I pluck it!

  • Nunu

I’ve plucked my eyebrows so much that what I have left are mere twigs and I have to sharpie them back on.
No dude, mine is much worse and much more embarrassing, nose hairs.
I swear it’s not an often occurrence but sometimes….when they get too much nourishment…they tend to grow much more enthusiastically…and then when you smile…they like to escape for a quick peek at the rest of the world..T.T
And because it’s not a frequent thing, you kinda forget to trim that part of the world, and you never notice until you take close up photos n u’re like “OMFG WHAT THE HECK IS THAT STICKING OUT OF MY NOSE??!!!”
Oh gods I can’t believe I just put this onto the internet for all the world to see. I have no shame.

    • the Muse

OMG nunu! dooodddd! I totally overplucked. I swear I can shave them off and within two days I’ll have bushy brows right back again! They grow like weeds! HAAAAA nose hairs!? really? I don’t have that one haha! LOL peek at the rest of the world omg nunu you are funny! LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL I LOVE YOU that was amazing lol! I nearly peed myself reading it!

  • Kate

Ugh, I hate waxing my brows–I should probably call my salon and have a wax added to my hair appointment, but at the moment I just don’t care.

My hair confession is buying gobs of haircare products over the last two months (shampoo, conditioners, styling aids, masks, including a itsy bottle of MorrocanOil) just to get my hair nice and sleek and it still is a frizzy messy. It shouldn’t bother me, but it does. 🙁

    • the Muse

kate I have long wavy hair so I understand TOTALLY! I don’t mind waxing my brows I actually kinda like it more than threading sometimes but I HATE having my upper lip done, OW!

      • Kate

Ooooh….ummm you probably don’t want to know what I do to my upper lip chin area. <——thats probably the true confession.

          • Kate

            >_<

I shave my upper lip and chin! I know its bad, but as a desperate teen it was the quickest way I could think of to get rid of the fuzz.

I did have a few sessions of hair zapping–where they blast the roots and the hair doesn't grow back for a few months and I think I'm a bit less hairy from that. One day, I'll go back to that, but the price scares me!

          • the Muse

kate as a teen I did the same thing lol! I mean seriously I had no idea how to tell my mum that I needed a serious wax job lol! I’m scared of attempting such on my face so it’s wax and threading for me sadly.

  • Comrade_Garlic

I’ll take all of your excess brow hair I have none. They used to full and happy, but they started falling out. So I have none. Okay almost none, the remaining hairs grow really long. Like The Monarch on The Venture Brothers. I do get a full beard of peach fuzz. I have to take a razor to it.

    • the Muse

comrade awww you can have ’em believe me it’s a curse! lol the venture bros…Loves it! on your chin you mean?

  • irini

my upper lip and brows.thank god that now that im older the hormones are getting cooler and i have less, but i had that since elementary schooled!i got bullied big time!NOT ANYMORE

    • the Muse

aww irini! upper lip too here! and def brows! I had it in elementary school too, the dreaded unibrow LOL! but thankfully no bullying lol! I swear living up to the sixth grade with a unibrow stinks!

  • Hella

Finally somebody told the world – yes, women too have nose hairs! I have two or three that I have to get rid of from time to time, no big deal, but the constant feeling that they might have grown overnight is terrifying!
About brows… Well, you might have problem with the unibrow, I have problem with my brow-line. I used to have two really bushy brows, and when I tweeze them I have to pick hairs that are actually above what’s left (I don’t know if you can imagine that:) So I’m left with two nicely shaped brows and something truly strange above – supposedly the contours of my brow-bone. It’s not something ugly, but it looks strange when the light’s coming from above 🙂 And besides, the hairs that grow above tend to be more thick and if I don’t tweeze them daily, it gets nasty…

    • the Muse

LOL hella aw you guys need some love. Me with my unibrow and you guys with your nose hairs 😀 LOL no worries I get the hairy above area too LOL! omg we are sorry cases aren’t we?!

  • Marina

Upper lip and brows. I’m Hispanic, with REALLY dark hair. Doesn’t bode well…I don’t get to the salon much, and I’m pretty much terrified of doing my own eyebrows with wax…so I pluck between salon visits. Don’t mind it so much on my eyebrows, but I put off my upper lip til I just can’t anymore. They show up all too well under fluorescent lights, and unfortunately that’s my everyday situation. Plucking it hurts soo bad. When I go get my upper lip done with wax, they usually use the peel off wax and it doesn’t hurt AT ALL!
Like someone else said, I got made fun of by my “friends” back in elementary school for my eyebrows. So not fun! I try and keep them nice and clean, not too skinny, but def. not too bushy!

    • the Muse

Marina portuguese italian here so you can imagine the hairyness going on! I can’t wax my brows worth a damn and I tend to overpluck so I’m running to the salon every two weeks to tame the caterpillars above my eyes!

    • Ashe

Marina, have you thought about shaving your upper lip? I know it sounds weird but if you have to keep up with it anyway, you’d just shave it anyway. :3

      • the Muse

hehe ashe rather just wax it 😀 shaving isn’t such a hot idea!

  • mercedes

ok,here is my beuty confession…if i dont shave my pits every day…my god! you do not want to know what happens if dont,i dont even want to know!!! i could probably braid those menacing evil creatures.OMG! i cant believe i just said this!!this is definetly going to haunt me…oh god!! what if my little hairy friends find out?! they might murder me in my sleep!! lol

    • the Muse

LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL Mercedes you’re safe here 😀 LOL! we won’t let them get you!

  • Su

wow I am total opposite from you…my eyebrows hairs are sooo fine and light colored that I look like I have no brows so everyday even if I do not do makeup I make sure to draw eyebrows if not I would look like an old monkey (according to my mum T.T) and sometimes I am quite happy that I have these pathetic eyebrows since I can change the shape as and when I like…lucky my lashes are not that bad..

    • the Muse

god su I’d kill for less hair on my brows. an old monkey? haha!

  • DivaShop

When it comes to brows I have the opposite problem. They are so sparse & light colored you can hardly see them. If I want to have the appearance of brows I need powder or pencil. On my head I have a double cowlick which is a royal pain in the butt. As for hairy problems, I can be thankful because I don’t even have enough hair to warrant shaving.

    • the Muse

god gloria I wish I could say the same…if I don’t take care of my hairy situations I will look like a yeti on the loose!

  • Norlyn

I don’t know… I don’t have a real confession.. except that I am obsessed with my upper lip hair. Like… I pluck it in between threadings, and get it RELIGIOUSLY threaded every two weeks. Its not that the hair grows super fast or super thick. In fact, its very fine, and I know I’m the only person who sees it. But it drives me crazy. I get so worried that I’m going to look like I have a mustache.

    • the Muse

aw norlyn! I hear ya 😀 I’m constantly waxing mine as I hate the idea of even peach fuzz on my upper lip!!!!!

  • jonnie

I also would have caveman brows if I didn’t take care of them… my hair stylist once told me that usually only older people have stray hairs as low on the brow as I do. 🙁

I always stare at my upper lip in fear that anyone other than me can see the peachfuzz there, but I assume someone would have let me know if it was actually visible other than .5 inches from the mirror under bright lights…

  • jen

OH. MY. GOD. I am a hairy beast! That is my confession! Generally Asians are relatively hairless and in fact my mom doesn’t have a single leg or arm hair on her but ME on the other hand…I could shave in the morning and get a five-o-clock shadow (on my legs!) by midday! I have narsty razor burn too! Feels like cactus. Sexy right? I also have some toe hairs I am always compelled to shave off…*shudders*

    • the Muse

omg jen don’t tell anyone about toe hairs..I so have ’em!

      LOL

toe hair club for women we has membership there!

  • Kaoru

I keep two pairs of tweezers in my life. One is in the bathroom drawer that it mine, and the other in my travel stuff. I don’t have the best groomed eyebrows, but I like to try. I swear, if I don’t keep a constant watch on my brows, they grow out in a day. Luckily, the middle part doesn’t grow out as quickly as it used to (all that plucking finally paid off), but the under the brow/top eyelid area? Yeah, it’s like hazardous waste dripping down bad.

    • the Muse

LOL kaoru! omg tell me about it….I think I stunned my stuff to not grow lol! It used to grow like a weed so I had a unibrow straight across but I’ve plucked, waxed, pulled, yanked, and threaded so much it seems to have stunned it into growing over alot less!!!!!!!

  • Cristi

I totally empathize with the chickies out there that have those pesky nose hairs! I get one or two stray ones once in awhile, but they are so far toward the opening of my nostril, that I can’t trim them. I have to pluck!! And it hurts like hell! It hurts just thinking about it! *shudder*

Okay, now I have a big confession to make…. *looks down shyly* My bikini line… grows… down my leg a bit. But only down one leg… which is better than both, but still, what gives? o.O

    There! I said it!!

*le sigh* It’s only by about half an inch, but that’s all it takes for it to stand side-by-side with the edge of my undies.

    Oh, and the toe hair thing… I totally have that too. -.-;;

    • the Muse

cristi WTF down one leg? LOL! it’s kinda like having one breast that’s bigger than the other isn’t it? haha *hugs* OMG yes the toe hairs oh god the toe hairs *runs away in shame*

      • Cristi

But… everyone has one breast that is larger than the other, right? RIGHT?!! @.@

        • the Muse

LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL yes prob cristi…ok everyone check their pubic hair too! Perhaps everyone has public hair longer on one side too! hehe I heart you!

          • Cristi

Gawd, I’m starting to sound as if I’m built like Quazimodo… *cries* Freakishly growing pubes down my right leg, lopsided tatas, toe hairs, extra nose hairs… What’s funny is that 3 of those things aren’t ever really being shown to anyone. But still, I feel the need to go into hiding now. *begins cutting eyeholes out of a brown paper shopping bag*

          • the Muse

LOL o way cristi 😀 *hugs* what you are is pretty funny though lol!

  • Hella

I just do’t get it why we should be ashamed of those hairs! Probably 4 out of five girls has some problem with them or another. It’s just that we are fed from our infancy with those magazine girls, no hair at all, although we know that they are so photoshop-ed. A friend of mine works for a German magazine, doing the corrections, and she tells me that most of those models have hairy arms, pits and what not! Heads up, girls! This is reality! No need to be ashamed, we don’t live on the pages of magazines!

    • the Muse

hey hella dunno if we are ashamed but more about finding hair irritating and perhaps distasteful. Not sure if it’s mags but I personally don’t want to sport hair on my upper lip, brows, or pits. It’s reality for sure but doesn’t mean we can’t buy a razor and deal with it in a realistic matter 😀 ha….! sorry but hairy bits I just find distasteful 😀 you ever said yourself you don’t like how nasty it becomes when you aren’t tweezing, plucking, etc 😀

      • Hella

It’s more about the obsession part that bothers me. It’s distasteful, that’s for sure, but you know that we all feel a bit ‘unhappy’ about hairs. This is obviously wrong, one should’t be so stressed about a hair or two that are not where they should be. Many girls feel even ugly if they have say, hairy arms. Perhaps we’ll be all happier if we looked up to Frida – she didn’t die of hair right? 🙂

        • the Muse

not all hella. I dunno if I’m obsessed with my hairy situations but I def do not want stray hairs on my upper lip or brows…it’s a matter of good grooming for me 😀 No one said I’d die if I have them but no one says it’s not ok to want to wax them off either lol

          • Hella

But you have to admit that sometimes it’s a pain in the *ss and you just want to leave things as they are… Perhaps it’s too far fetched but I’m looking forward to a world where a three-day armpits will be as sexy as a three-day beard… maybe I have to look backward 😀

          • the Muse

LOL hella one can hope that would be the norm as I agree keeping up with hairy situations is a pain 🙂 but we have to do it 😀

  • Ceriene

Oh my god. I’m with you muse. My eyebrows are MONSTERS if I let them go. I pluck like crazy for them to stay in shape. Even then I don’t even need to fill them in, because they’re dark enough on their own. Not a unibrow, but I swear, they’re horrible and gross. :< That, and I have upper-lip hair, which I wax. But, argh, it's a pain and it doesn’t always work, so I have to do it again and again. And it’s way too painful to pluck those.

    The pains of being a woman. u_u;

    • the Muse

ha ceriene tell me ’bout it. thankfully a lip wax will last me around two weeks but I can totally relate to the dreaded upper lip hair 😀 LOL men would never understand it all!

  • Mona

The reason I have a blunt fringe is because I can’t be bothered to maintain my eyebrows! I swear that it’s only when I go for a fringe trim that I remember that I actually HAVE eyebrows.

Or rather, AN eyebrow, as the case would be. heh 🙂

I shaved off my arm hair once, wasn’t a pleasant experience as the growing out was excruciating! I epilate my legs though, looove the feeling of the hair being plucked out. I’ve tried threading my upper lip, but I usually end up in tears within the first five seconds! And I have fine hair all over my face – currently debating on whether I should thread them, or leave them be in fear of them growing back thicker and more obvious – vengeance in the form of hair, eek!

    • the Muse

lol mona! great idea, a cut to hide the brows ;-D omg! I have hairy arms too 😀 lol but never tried waxing/shaving ’em…that’s just going too crazy for me to be honest. Awww sounds like you’re pretty sensitive hun!

aw heck vengeance is hair’s middle name, it come back with a FORCE!

  • CucumPear

Bah, I want more eyebrow hairs, mine are so sparse and shapeless. But to compensate the lack of hair in my eye-area I have an über-fluffy jaw. Good thing I never accidentally dyed that or I would have looked like Wolverine.
