Beauty on a Budget: Essence Magic Design Mascara Review

I’m ever so tempted to call it quits and just say I’m not feeling the love for Essence Magic Design Mascara but I can’t deny for the price it works well enough.

Jump!

As you know from my most recent post German brand, Essence, is now available at your local Ulta with prices ranging from a mere dollar up to four bucks but nothing over that amount. Cheap makeup? Ok, we all can get on board with that right?

Essence Magic Design Mascara is a mere $1.99 and honestly for the price you probably won’t find much to rant about.

Weird smell, check….you know inexpensive mascara typically sports a strange, mysterious smell and sadly yes this kinda does have a bit of a strange smell. Aside from that I’d say it was decent enough for it’s $1.99 price tag particularly if you’re trying to cheap up the old beauty regime.

It comes with a standard, straight line brush which promises fuller lashes. Granted Essence gets a little too crazy and proceeds to say it “phenomenally extends” lashes…ok, let’s not get crazy now guys. It does ok with length and alright with curl. After curling lashes and applying a few coats my lashes are indeed longer not necessarily fuller but long enough. It doesn’t flake or fade and pretty much stays where I put it all day, unsure how oily lids will suffer through it but for me it stayed on pretty much all day and removed easy enough.

It’s not going to change your mascara lifestyle anytime soon but for it’s two buck price tag it can’t hurt it either. I wouldn’t recommend it as an incredible mascara but I will recommend it as a rather nice beauty budget purchase, particularly if you’re wanting to keep things in line and not willing to spend $10 or more dollars on a mascara.

Not necessarily bad but not incredible either….just decent.

Have you checked out the Essence cosmetic line at your Ulta yet?

Loves it?

My lashes hate Essence mascaras – they do’t simply refuse to put up with them, I’m simply loosing them!!! Lash baldness? Hello, these mascaras are toxic! And it’s not just me – I’ve heard many girls ranting about them.

omg hella that’s terrible. No lash baldness here thank god! It’s not an incredible mascara but isn’t bad for the price really.

Yeah, the price is real nice… That’s why I bought it. Now I know that I won’t be experimenting anymore – I’m I firm believer that when it comes to mascaras, Manhattan’s the best choice, and they are not that expensive either.
