Chloe Eau de Toilette Review

Oh Chloe you deceived me! With fresh notes of watermelon and rose the Muse was expecting a fruity, sparkling blend from the new Chloe Eau de Toilette. Perhaps something light and cheery….

It turned out to be something oh so much more!

Chloe Eau de Toilette contains notes of Rose, Orange Zest, Freesia, Watermelon, Sandalwood, Iris. What I was expecting was a fresh, light Spring fragrance…

What I got was a timeless piece of beautiful fragrance.

The notes combine to create a feminine masterpiece that’s both bold and natural with reflections of both floral and fruit notes. I really love it and can’t stop sniffing at the bottle as I type this.

It begins with a dominate note of rose but not an overly powerful rose or even a red rose. It’s just a very small note of fresh rose topped with a freesia and iris so that the rose blends in and creates a fresher, cleaner note of floral that’s not easily recognized. Hints of mandarin orange give the scent a more playful edge and offers a bit of lightness amidst all the floral. I fail to get the watermelon note in the entire blend although I can’t help but wish I could as I adore the scent of watermelon.

The scent is complex and offers many different layers. It hints at being playful but also has a bolder note to give it a classy age. The fragrance on a whole is quite floral yet fresh but also has a hint of sweet fruit to keep it from becoming cloying.

I was pleasantly surprised how strong the Eau de Toilette was, it has a good throw, and plenty of linger for such a formula.

Overall, Chloe Eau de Toilette proves a beautiful find for your Spring fragrance wardrobe.

Likey very much!

    • the Muse

dina it’s lovely, a pleasant surprise :-D! Quite strong for an EDT isn’t it?

  • MG

isn’t this the same thing as the old one? i wonder why they re-release perfumes and say they are new! (b/c how your described it, sounds like the one i bought last year)

    • the Muse

hi MG not sure about last year but this has different notes than the original chloe as the original chloe contains peony 😀

  • Linda

I was looking to purchase this fragrance and now I will! It smells so wonderful. =]

    • the Muse

linda it was really a pleasant little surprise 😀 I love it!

  • daisyv316

it’s certainly on my list!!! along with coco chanel, the new harajuku lovers fragance, and the new SJP perfume =D oh and juicy couture =D

  • betty

I’ve been debating between this and my all time fave Dior Addict 2. I heard from the MA that this one has lychee as one of its notes 🙂 I think I’m gonna have to get both this and DA2 😛

    • the Muse

hm betty I didn’t get lychee from it and I don’t think it’s a note to be honest but regardless still very nice 😀 DA2 is fabs as well couldn’t agree more!

  • Robin

What a beautiful bottle! I need to try this. I used to wear the older Chloe fragrance when I was dating my DH. Now he always asks, “Are you wearing Chloe?” if he thinks my fragrance smells nice. 🙂

  • Catherine

I looooooooove Chloe – I have the parfum and I’m on my 2nd bottle of it. I travel a bit and always pick up perfumes duty free so have had quite a few over the years and this is by far my favourite. I’ve bought new ones since and still prefer Chloe. Have gotten compliments from random strangers on the street about the scent!

  • Vivian

Beautiful bottle but that’s about it! I have really been behind the times and did not realize that Chloe had not been reformulated. (I’ve been buying it from JC Penny as it has been so hard to find) I just got my new ordered Chloe in the pretty new bottle, sprayed it on, and knew immediately that something was seriously wrong. Smelled just like Off Bug Spray, horrible! So I went straight to the internet to see if it had been reformulated, and found that it had. I immediately called Sephora, where I purchased it, to express my dismay and say I wanted to return it. They couldn’t have been nicer about it, and I will return it without a doubt. I now have to go scrub my arms to get this horrible smell off of me. If you loved the classic Chloe–don’t buy the new one! I just went on Amazon and found that there are a few vendors who still carry the classic Chloe by Karl Lagerfeld. I ordered three 3oz. bottles. I hate it when they discontinue a classic!

  • michaela

Hiya, I’d like to ask if you’ve tried the edp version. I love the scent of Chloe – both the edp and edt – so as you can see I’m in a dilemna as to which purchase to make. Also, how’s the staying power of the edt?

LOVE the bottle though – the design’s so classic and vintage!

    • the Muse

hi michaela I haven’t tried the edp. EDP’s generally have more throw, linger, and stay power. EDT lasted well on me but it’ll vary from body chemistry to body chemistry. Hope this helps!

      • michaela

        Thanks for the reply^^

I enjoyed the EDT as the scent is rather light, airy and sharper. The EDP on the other hand is a tad heavier but settles into this soft, gorgeous (almost vanilla/honey – maybe the amber/cedarwood?) scent on me. Both come from the same scent with the underlying rose, but each also have their own distinct quality – oh the choices… (Weirdly enough, the EDT had a better staying power on me…)

        • the Muse

my pleasure michaela to my nose, which is bad, they both smelled very similar ;-D aside from the EDP being a bit lighter.

      • Catherine

I’ve only tried the edp and I LOVE it (I’m on my 3rd bottle) and it lasts ALL day… i’d highly recommend.

  • Tamara

OMGosh- I LOVE the Chloe’ EDT!!! I had been almost exclusively wearing Angel (Thierry Mugler’s) for eight years. I would usually try something new aroung springtime, but it wouldn’t last long and I would end up giving awa the new fragrance … Until I met Chloe’. I was in a Sephora searching yet again for something lighter that I could wear during the summer months and the sales associate suggested Chloe’. I could not be happier… UNLESS they would produce a lotion and powder to accompany the fragrance. The EDP has lotions/other things…
We should start a petition! 😉

  • dina

muse! i tried to email you, have you smelled the new rosebud version of this – so pretty!!! you have to check it out 😀

    • the Muse

        • the Muse

I’m sorry I’ve been such mess with comments and emails lately chica ;-D! How are you? How’s the baby!?

          • dina

  • Jaa Maurer

IS this the same one as Chole EDT , bright yellowish orange packaging that came out long time ago(2009)?

  • fabian

Smell like i am million bucks!!!
    God!!! Im so lovin it
Everytime i smell it so lighten up my day i felt very clean and attractive

  • jasmine

this is my signature scent. it has the ability to make me feel sophisticated, spontaneous, fresh, feminine, and just overall confident! 🙂 I’ve been wearing it for years and although the price tag isn’t so cute, I swear it’s justified by all the pros. Last week, I went to the Chloé store and picked up the solid perfume version that comes in a locket/necklace. It’s very versatile as a jewelry plus I can dab on a lil perfume, what more can I ask for?

    • Deepthy

Hi…jasmine… Can u please help me to find websites wer in i can buy edt for cheaper.. There r a number of chloe pefumes in ebay and amazon but couldnot find edt anywer… All of them r either edp, or innocence, or love, etc,… Edt is very hard to find.., i cant compromise with edp as its too strong for me

      • Jasmine

Hi Deepthy, I see what you mean when you say finding the EDT is hard. I did found some Chloe EDT on Rakuten.com.

Another cheaper alternative is this: http://www.sephora.com/chloe-perfumed-deodorant-spray-P380545?skuId=1425453
It’s basically a Chloe body spray, so it’s lighter with the Chloe scent and not too overpowering, like an EDP. At $30, i think its not a bad spray to have without having to shell out big bucks. You can spritz it over your body like a normal body spray and/or use on top of unscented deodorant like i sometimes do!
