Garnier Caffeine Anti-Dark Circles Review: Garnier Tinted Eye Roll On Review

I’m skeptical when it comes to rolling my way through a bad puffy eye day, I just don’t seem to have much success with “roller” eye treatments. How are rollers treating you?

Much to my sadness, Garnier Skin Renew Anti-Puff Eye Roller was a bust for me, I really seen little to no results using it so I was ever so skeptical about the Garnier Caffeine Anti-Dark Circles but…but…but…its tinted dude. So it acts as a concealer and tames the puff! This could prove awesome right? And we all know what a concealer junkie I am, I had to try it!

Jump!

Garnier Tinted Eye Roll On is formulated with caffeine, just like our bodies crave the java in the morning to wake us up so do our eyes. Caffeine is known for its stimulating action and ability to depuff tired, sleepy eyes.

Whats so different about this new Garner Roll On compared to the old version?

Its tinted!

The formula hasnt only been revamped to include more depuffing ingredients but also now comes in two shade selections for extra concealing power as well. It not only reduces the appearance of bags and dark circles but also conceals them!

Does it work?

Mmmm not on my puffy eyes sadly no. Ive tried caffeine enriched products prior to this and havent really seen dramatic effects and this is about the same. The formula is cooling and feels hydrating under my eyes however my puff stays right where it is. Younger eyes may experience better results in regards to puffiness but chronic puffy eyes due to older age probably wont see dramatic results in my opinion.

However, I dont mind so much as acting double duty as a concealer it works great at brightening up my eye area and Im kinda pleased to have a formula that also contains ingredients that act on depuffing at the very least. The concealer isnt heavily pigmented and has a thinner consistency than most but it still manages to roll on easily and freshen up tired looking eyes. Its not going to conceal major dark circles but it does a nice job of deflecting away from extra baggage hanging out under your eyes. I like the roller application for the concealer and Im left to wonder why dont more brands embrace a roller for their concealers, fun stuff!

Overall, younger women can experience both its concealing and depuffing action however older ones may not notice too much of a difference but will still enjoy the concealing benefits and ease of “rolling” on ones concealer.

Quite nice in my opinion even though it didnt successfully depuff my eyes.

Likey!

Its available now within the UK but Im sure itll hit the US market in the next few months.

likely would not buy as i have yet to find an eye roller that is effective but that seems like a very different and innovative idea esp. applicator-wise for the concealer. thanks for the news 🙂
p.s. have you seen the phil. eye hope concealer thing 2 in 1 on Q? curious about that one too

    • the Muse

my pleasure d 😀 It’s worth it for the concealer, as that’s decent, but sadly my eyes are stubborn and puffiness seems to be part of my gorgeous good nature LOL

YES! I got it. have to review doh!

  • Caroline

Muse, I will be 30 this year and have been experiencing puffy morning eyes for about a year now. I don’t know how old you are, but you look super young. However, I did not realize the puffiness was an age thing, I just have been blaming my allergies. I wonder what exactly causes it as you age? Have you found any product that has helped with your puffies?

    • the Muse

hey caroline. aw me too. About 2 years now every since I turned 30 I noticed alot of puff in one eye, more so than the other. Puffiness can def be blamed on allergies, lack of water/hydration (common when we are old as our body doesn’t handle water the same was as when we are younger), hormone change, fluid retention, could be anything really 😀 I blame mine on old age lol! mmm a few things help…good concealer for one 😀 Also steady use of eye cream does help but you have to be patience to see results. kiehls makes an interesting cooling stick that I get pretty ok results with as well as origins ginzing…but I haven’t really got an HG right now that cures it completely 😀 I find running a washcloth under freezing cold water and placing under my eyes prior to moisturizer helps sometimes too!

      Hope this helps!

  • Mora

I tried it too. i’m working on a review in german for my blog.
i think its a good thing, if you don’t have heavy circles under the eyes. its really refreshing in the morning, in summer i will love it.
i like that it doesn’t crease. but for perfect stay you have to fix it with powder.
in switzerland this product is way too expensive for what it does. so swiss girls should be better investing on a better pigmented concealer.

    • the Muse

      hi mora!

Awesome 😀 can’t wait to read your review.

It’s probably cheaper this side of the world when it does launch. Right now it’s 9.99 in the UK which isn’t too badly priced but I can imagine in Switzerland the cost 🙁

  • Angie Twe

    I don’t think you’re that old Muse!

Maybe, you can try to not to drink water at least 2 hours before you sleep.
Old chinese saying that it can reduce eye puffiness, but I think it works.
Cuz I did try sleeping after drinking lots of water and seeing sth puff ard my eyes the next day. (hehehe) And the other day w/o water before I sleep. Prob solved for me. 🙂

I’m sure you’ll find better ways to treat those puffy eyes. 😀

    • the Muse

aw shucks thanks angie 😀 Interesting never tried that. 😀 thank you dear *hugs* will try!

  • Wendy

Awwww 🙁 I had high hopes for this one… along with some of the other concealers you’ve reviewed. Unfortunately, though I’m young (22), I have really strong purple “bags” under my eyes. It’s only bad in a small area but they’re very bright and pinkish toned… hideous.
I can keep it semi under control with Clinique All About Eyes 1-2x per day, Mac Select MoistureCover and a little Studio Finish… but I’d like to find something that actually TREATS them.
    Guess the search continues!

    • the Muse

wendy sounds like you aren’t in need of depuffying but something pigmented to help concealer ’em hun. I never really found anything that successfully treats dark circles tbh perhaps over time I’ll see some results with this as I’ve only been using it a week or less so can’t say if it did much for my dark circles aside from conceal them 😀

  • Ali

Hmm, I just MIGHT try this. I have horrible, hereditary dark circles, so I’m desperate for anything that might help them. (Without anything, it looks like I got punched in the face.)

However, the reviews that I’ve read for this don’t seem to be too stellar. What concealer do you recommend most for horrendous dark circles? I’ve tried everything, and nothing works. (Not even theBalm’s TimeBalm Concealer works on me. Funny, considering that pretty much everyone I’ve talked to about this has sworn on a Bible that it works wonders.)

    • the Muse

oh ali hun this won’t do anything for HORRIBLE dark circles sadly. It’s nice for freshening up but this def is too light for big time concealer needs. I’m not big on TimeBalm myself to be honest, it’s ok, but not crazy good. I’d go with the Bobbi Brown Concealer Palette, best I’ve found for making me look fresh and awake 😀 Kat Von D’s concealer isn’t too shabby either.

      • Ali

I’ll have to look into those concealers, then. I’ve had my eye on that Kat Von D one for a while now. =D

But at least I’ve finally started accepting that my circles probably won’t ever be covered completely. Ah, well. Acceptance is the first stage. …Oh dear, did that sound too AA like? XD

  • Anitacska

I’ve got this and I really like it. Don’t have puffy eyes, nor huge dark circles, but I can always use a bit of undereye concealer to brighten up my eyes at 7 am – yawn! 🙂 I think it’s a nice formula and gives pretty good coverage. I have he lighter one as I’m pretty pale and it matches my skintone well. I have to say, this is becoming my HG concealer, after my trusty Collection 2000 one, and the overhyped YSL highlighter pen/concealer.

    • the Muse

me too anita 😀 def can use a wake up call in the AM for puffiness/dark circles/etc….it is rather nice, I like the roll on application 😀 makes life simple!

  • gio

Thanks for the review. I had horrible dark circles and sometimes puffy eyes too so I was hoping this could help. I’m sad to hear it won’t, I’ll just stick to my usual concealer to hide them instead.

    • the Muse

gio hun pretty good for concealing but sadly not for treating in my case!

  • Hana

I can’t wait to try this! I’ve seen a couple reviews online and it sounds right up my alley. I wonder when we’ll get it over here… Thanks for the review!

    • the Muse

I’m positive we will hana just will take a short while 😀

  • Babybubblz

wow very unexpected combination of products! i didn’t think a roller concealer would appeal to me…but this looks interesting!

  • Gabriela

I haven`t seen this product yet in Spain. It sounds great because it can save time. However if it doesn`t conceal well…

  • Stacy

I can’t wait to try this…I hope it is available in the US soon!!!

  • Ally

Even though I’ve never found anything that actually helps “treat” dark circles, I still can’t help but get sucked in by these products! Would love to try when it’s available in the U.S. though! Did you just apply this over your foundation? Thanks Muse!!

    • the Muse

hey ally normally apply concealer first than foundation hun 😀

  • Anonymous

    Hey!

We tested some eye pads out during a busy week at London Fashion Week, and found them brilliant for dark circles.

  • Claire

    Hi,

I get dark circles- but not puffiness, I have been using this for about 2 weeks now (I also use the non concealing formula at night) and for me this has reduce my dark circles as well as concealing them. I’m not that bothered by the roller though, I tend to dab a bit just under my eye then use a concealer brush to get an even coverage

  • Marlene

I’ve never worn a concealer because they accentuate the bags under my eyes. Recently, my sister said I have dark circles. I don’t see it. I definitely have bags. I’m going to give the Garnier a try. I do know for a fact if you want to temporarily get rid of bags, use Carmex at night. I haven’t been consistent because I usually don’t wash my face at night. But just one night I can tell a difference. You can try it in the daytime time, but watch your eye-make-up!

  • d

Bought it….for me just another white concealer that doesn’t do anything but settle into the tiny lines…..*sigh*

  • Leila

Well, I’m already 41 and euroasiatic, that means I’m on the queue of having bags under my eyes.
Right now, I have dark circles. Since it’s so difficult to find a concealer with the right shade for my skin colour (I live in “tropical” Spain, that meaning Canary Islands), I’ll just have to try it.
And I am pleased. Texture is liquid and soft, easy to apply and merges with your skin shade (mind, I use fair tone). I keep mine in the fridge, and use it directly from it. No smell (parfums), no “vapours” (you know, when you get teary eyed because the creams or products evaporating softly irritate the eye)… really cheap price…
I usually go just face washed daily, and I must say the use of JUST this product kind of enlivens my face. Got even complimented. So in a way, it works for me.

  • Laci

    Dear Muse,

I’ve been considering the garnier anti-dark circle roller and the maybelline dream lumi touch concealer. Which one do you think works better? In terms of pigmentation? And consistency? Thank you for your help! 🙂
