Kat Von D Tattoo Eraser Review and Swatches

Kat, babe, I love you, but stop pimpin’ tattoo eraser and concealer stuff. I mean that’s part of who you are right? Your ink is part of your personality! Why in the world would you want to sell stuff to conceal ink? It’s such a contradiction.

Well…If you insist on putting it out, you know I’ll buy and try it.

Check out the new Kat Von D Tattoo Eraser after the jump!

I don’t have ink sadly, I’m not that hardcore, needles scare the bejebus out of this Muse however I thought of Kat Von D Tattoo Eraser as the perfect way to conceal dark circles, fine lines, and other bits and bobs that plague my under eye area.

What is it?

Well it’s a dupe up of the Benefit Eye Bright Pencil except slimmer. The pencil is a pale pink shade which promises to counteract dark blue and black ink of tattoos or in my case I’ve been using it on my dark circles which is perfectly a ok for use as well.

Basically you’re supposed to draw over your tattoo (or dark circles) by following the edges and filling in the area. After, follow up with Kat Von D Tattoo Concealer and pat on and follow up with a mattifying powder and set it with a mist or setting spray of some type.

Lots of work if you ask me and also somewhat a pain if you don’t have all these items in your beauty arsenal but hey if you need to conceal ink on the fly obviously it’s worth a shot right?

Does it work?

I tried concealing a beauty mark on the back of my arm and no, it didn’t work so great. I see a few reviews on Sephora which rave about it’s incredible concealing power but after following the steps above and using in conjunction with my Kat Von D Concealer, I still seen my beauty mark.

How is on dark circles?

Not great. The problem is the pencil is extra hard and doesn’t have a nice soft, creamy texture so swiping it on won’t get much done and pressing harder will but who wants to press that hard under their eyes you know? Where as Benefit’s version sports a creamy formula and blends nicely, this is considerably harder and difficult to blend. If you can get it on right and blended correctly it actually succeeds at concealing well but the formula itself is an incredible pain to work with. Mind you it won’t take the place of regular concealer!

Mmm…overall, it might be worth the hassle if you’re concealing ink with it and it might even work for you but if you’re wanting to conceal dark circles I’d skip and go with Benefit’s Eye Bright Pencil instead. At $14 it’s very reasonably priced but even if they gave it away for free, I probably wouldn’t buy again due to it’s shabby formula. It didn’t conceal a very tiny beauty mark so I fail to see how it’ll cover a huge area of ink on your body…but who knows, you might have better results than I did.

Not one of Kat’s better products.

No likey.

Available now from Sephora.

Funny, it was less visible when it was just a pink blob. Adding the other bits exposed it again. Hmmph.

Conceal my tattoo?! WTF?! Even if I had to go on a job interview for the most super-duper outstanding job I wouldn’t do it! And besides, you simply CAN’T hide it! It will just become something strangely blotted, and someone would ask you whether you have been writing with a ballpoint on your skin…

OK, I don’t get this. Tattoos have become so common in the US, that I don’t see the point in trying to hide them. It doesn’t matter what you use, you can still see that you are trying to hide a tattoo. Coverblend or Dermablend look like they would work better (and be cheaper), but in real life you can still see the tattoo. It just becomes this wired sort of flesh tone blob. My work place used to have a no visible tattoo policy, even with covering, and the girls did a good job, you still knew it was there. You just couldn’t tell what it was supposed to be. Sorry for the tangent, this just bugs me for some reason.

comrade don’t get ink to begin with if you’re attempting to cover up…it is silly 😀

I knew this wouldn’t bode well for undereye circles just on the principle that it’s a pencil 🙁 Shame it didn’t work out, even for your beauty mark.
We’re both on the hunt for a great undereye concealer it seems~!

I’ve been looking into this to cover up a tattoo that I am in the process of having removed. This process takes a year-ish so I wanted something to cover it up between my treatments. Sadly now I think I’ll pass. Thanks for the review!

Hella — I work with a lot of brides and they always, ALWAYS want to cover their tattoos & it’s heartbreaking! I mean, who CARES what your grandmother-in-law thinks?! She’s probably just jealous. & if you liked the tattoo enough to get it in the first place, you should be proud to show it off! It’s your own damn wedding, after all! (“You” & “your” being used in the metaphorical, all-encompassing term, not specifically directed.)

It’s to the point where I plan to get another tattoo in a highly-visible area just to show it off down the aisle. Hah!

Sorry about the rant. This is just a very passionate point for me. I always feel like those girls are quashing themselves to please others. 🙁

Hmmm….I think that the Kat Von D tattoo cover-up cream that came out last year works better. Although that’s not perfect, either!

    • the Muse

I didn’t think so either bonnie, good for eyes yes but not for concealing full on ink!
