Kevin Beautymaker Vin Vin Morning Hydrating Gel Review

Shrug, sometimes you have to give in and just buy the pretty pink packaged skin care….

It’s a girl thing.

Jump!

Kevin Beautymaker is a Taiwanese Makeup Artist best known for his inexpensive yet effect line of cosmetics. You probably recognize his name from some past reviews I’ve done on his concealer.

Kevin Beautymaker now has a brand new skin care collection that was recently released entitled Vin Vin. Honestly, I have a clue what “Vin Vin” refers to but I was simply taken in by the girlishly sweet pink packaging it all came in.

The Kevin Beautymaker Vin Vin Collection consists of a toner, facial masks, moisturizer, and a serum all packaged up in darling pink bottles and tubes, who doesn’t love a little pink in their life? The line is extremely cheap if you’re lucky enough to live within Taiwan however it ranges around $15 to $20 stateside, more than 50% more than retail in Asia, ouch!

Although it’s pink packaging remains the principal appeal for me I must admit the second thing that tickled me is the fact that line is Victorian Rose scented. Each piece sports a wonderfully sweet, fragrance pink rose scent that’s so romantic and feminine, loves it!

Kevin Beautymaker Vin Vin Morning Hydrating Gel is an interesting little product and it’s what I thought I’d review for you first since I’ve been enjoying it for the past week or so. It’s refereed to as a morning hydrating gel however those with terribly dry skin probably won’t experience any benefits from use since it’s very watery in formula and barely hydrates the skin with moisture. It’s gel formula is extra light and turns to water upon contact with the skin, quickly absorbing and leaving behind a nice soft feel but not enough moisture or hydration for most skin types. Oily skin types will love this as it’s so light it’s a barely there feel that won’t clog pores however combo, normal, and dry skin types might find it’s not as nourishing or moisturizing as their normal lotions and potions.

I personally think this will be a gem for Summer when I’m not wanting to wear a richer moisturizer that will leave my face shiny and greasy. This is extra light and comfortable to wear for those warmer days however my skin definitely needs something more during cooler weather as this simply doesn’t cut it.

Overall, I enjoy the packaging, the interesting formula which dissolves into water upon contact and absorbs easily, and love the scent however my skin definitely seeks more in the world of moisture. This will make a find addition to my Summer skin care but for year round day cream, I’ll need to seek out my richer products.

Available from Imomoko.

Hi Muse, on kevin’s site, it actually says to use the gel first, then the toner and the morning dew afterwards. So maybe it is designed to be watery such that it penetrates deep into the skin allowing other products to be layered on? Just a thought^^

What stores carry Kevin Beautymaker products in Asia? I’ll be in HK, Singapore and Korea soon, and would like to purchase while there.

    • the Muse

no idea clc I’m in New York so not sure plus it’s not sold in HK, Singapore, or Korea from what I understand but on a site called payeasy which is Taiwan. From what I understand, don’t quote me, shills, kevin beautymaker, and anosa are sold via the payeasy site only and not in stores…but can’t verify. Sorry wish I could be more help.
