About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I am so over Sephora palettes. I must say I don’t really want it. It kind of reminds me of those 88 palettes everyone was raving about. I bought and used twice. I can’t even tell you where my 88 palette is at!

  • Katie

I have a Sephora palette and it’s okay, not the best though, think of all the other great products you could get for thirty bucks!

  • Gia

I want!! But I hate Sephora brand of makeup! Except for their glosses! Love them.

Muse I have a question. So my friend asked if he could photograph me for his portfolio. So i’m doing my own makeup for it. What do u think the best foundation is for photos? I normally use Dior, Victoria’s secret, or Stila illuminating foundation but sometimes they don’t take the best photos. I’m thinking either Makeup Forever HD or Stila One Step. I would LOVE it if you would just throw some advice my way!! 🙂

  • Kristina

Some of those colors look absolutely horrible! I have to admit the idea is sort of fun though, and I guess the price alone outweighs any cons.

    • the Muse

kristina not that bad color wise are they!? I didn’t think so 😀

  • stila

I saw this on Sephora’s website awhile back and I kind of wanted it too! But I think the whole idea of popping them in and out was what appealed most to me, so I decided against it. I need some willpower or I’ll go broke!

this is so cool..I do not know about the quality but it seems to be really nice palette and good for traveling since with one palette you can do every look you can dream of
such a shame that cannot get in UK T.T
I feel ppl living in US are spoilt with those amazing makeup (life ain’t fair)

    • the Muse

su you guys got the facefront rainbow palette 😀 have you tried? it’s awesome!

      • Su

I wanted to but the small boots in my town does not have it!! can you believe that..grr everytime I went to boots I will search for it I spent so long looking for it the whole store that I look like a weirdo… I am going to boots tomorrow again and look for it,.hope I can find it
but I feel it is also a good thing that I cannot find it ( since I am on project 20-pan —- which I failed terribly due to iMATS london @>@) but hey I can trying still…. and you are not helping it hahaha

  • Robyn

step away muse !you know you only want it to play with if you dont like the makeup you aint ever gna really use it

it is looking rather nifty and cool tho

  • laura r

i love the colour groupings. takes the hassle out of a look but keeps options open! Dang. Only $30 you say? Hmmmmm….

  • Ann

Looks like fun! And not that pricey either. The only thing I worry about is the actual size. The photos need a coin or something next to them so I can imagine the true size.

  • Megan

These are really lovely! I’m quite surprised at just how good the combinations are.

  • Kate

I bought this palette on a total whim, I love eyeshadow but I always seem to buy the same neutrals over and over again, and I want to experiment with color without shelling out a zillion dollars for colors I will rarely use. I don’t typically like the Sephora brand makeup, but I was honestly shocked at how good these colors are!! All of the colors are nicely pigmented, and its a nice mix of shimmery and matte colors. Everything I’ve tried so far has been really, really nice. Obviously, these aren’t high end quality, but for that many shadows for the price, it’s a great deal, especially if you’re looking to try new colors. The lip glosses are fine, I don’t ever use glosses from palettes, so I haven’t played with those too much, but the one I tried was pretty. The shadows are pretty small, maybe dime sized, but there’s a ton of them, and I’m really glad I got it!

  • Ronnie

Some of the colors are completely unwearable, sad to say….plus it’s Sephora brand

    • the Muse

you think ronnie? I thought they had some nice shades in there 😀

  • niewniewjen

wow muse =o now you’ve got me lemmin this too =) being a poor college student isn’t making this any easier eep! And I live in Canada where everything is superduperexpensive =( oh, what to do – I have too much makeup already so I just might pass on it, but it looks so portable when broken up!! 😉

    • the Muse

aw jen! canadian makeup prices suck le sigh! 🙁 it does indeed, I need to see it in person curious minds 😀

  • Heather / Eyeconic

I like a lot of these colors… I may have to order this :O

  • Gloria

My coworker has this and it’s also been a top seller. Sephora brand makeup is actually really good – people just think it’s “cheap and bad quality” because of the price, when the products are actually great. Sephora just doesn’t spend money on fancy packaging nor do they do any marketing.

It’s really convenient and the glosses are really pretty and pigmented.

I just bought this last week, for my vegas weekend and i must say i love it.
the colors last so long compare to my victoria secret, benefit or mac eye shadows.
the price is very reasonable for the amount of shadows u get.

dont under estimate sephora brand make ups. they are far the best non brand make up line that i’ve used compared to my other 3 previous shadow brands.

mac, benefit and vs shadows you pay for each color about $12 and up depending on the color and size. RIDICULOUS!

sephora 5 n 1 palette is the best way to go…

I just purchased this product and was extremely excited after reading all the reviews. Drumroll… This product SUCKS! I mean big time. I am not a MAC user, Urban Decay, none of it. All I ever use is drug store products and I will use my drug store products over this any day. There are a couple colors that show up and show up very nicely. My faves though, like the pinks and purples and brights that I was mostly excited about. NOTHING. I have to scrub my eyeshadow brush into it and still hardly nothing. I don’t have any eyeshadow primer but will be purchasing some very soon in hopes that I will make this product useful cause I hate the idea of just chunking $30. down the drain.

  • shoaholic2Dend

U need to definetly get an eye primer, I’m hispanic and have olive skin so shadows don’t tend to show much on me BUT with a good primer (actually not that good only $8 from VS) this shadows last all my work day, I was a little skeptical at first but than i figure for that price that’s ALOT of shadows to play with; moreover, considering the price that’s $1.66 per shadow not counting the lip glosses and blushes that u also get I was blown away!!!!!!!!!!

  • vanessa

I purchased this yesterday and I havent gotten around to opening and using it. I wan to read some reviews first and then I’ll decide if its worth keeping. So should I or should I not??

  • Jeni

I just purchased this 5 in 1 and was extremely skeptical. You definately need to purchase a good primer such as smashbox or urban decay to eliminate some light fallout but otherwise, a great buy. These colors are highly pigmented and easily blendable. Those used to drug store brands…you need a primer! well worth it. I have given it the heat, workout, length and sleep test… and passed all of them. (again, primer helps) the only draw back is..too many colors to chose! lol…for the price, and tested quality, i reccomend it. I usually wear eyeshadow that costs aprox $30 each so I was shocked how great this was..go ahead, give it a go.
