Reader’s Request: Essence Soft Touch Mousse Review and Swatches
Taking a note from Maybelline, Essence Soft Touch Mousse makes it’s mark on the beauty budget world.

As I recently mentioned, Essence is a German brand of inexpensive cosmetics being sold at your local Ulta. The line pretty much ranges in price from .99 to $6.
They have a dupe up of Maybelline’s Dream Mousse Foundation with the Essence Soft Touch Mousse. I’m highly debating how budget-y I feel about this since Maybelline’s version is $7.99 and the Essence version is $4.99. I feel like $3 more you can just go with Maybelline but I think maybe the Essence one is bigger in size, I didn’t check prior to typing up the review, sorry.
It’s a basic mousse formula that has the feel of a base and a primer in one. It’s that cross between a velvety smooth formula and with a slightly silicon-feel. It’s a matte product so it applies smoothly and proceeds to turn powdery upon contact so if you’re oily it might likey fit your skin wonderfully well. However, I know alot of people complain about Maybelline Dream Mousse and how badly it clogs pores so this may likely suffer the same downfall however I can’t speak for it myself as I don’t have large pores.
I really don’t know if I like this or not. It feels nice on my skin and it might be more suitable for Summer light wear for me. It’s nicely pigmented, blends easily, and is cheap as it comes however I take foundation seriously and I feel more comfortable splurging on something of value rather than something so cheap.
Overall, it might be suitable if you are looking to save some money on foundation. There isn’t anything rightfully wrong with it that I can see aside from a slightly chemical smell. At $4.99 you probably won’t cry too much if you purchase and it fails to wear well on you. I feel like saying try it out since it isn’t bad at all…I’m just indecisive today I suppose.
Ok, not going to change your life, but decent enough.
Anyone try out any of the Essence line yet?
