Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Fast Fix Eye Shadow Base Review and Swatches

Ahhh shadow base. Most important part of my regime me thinks. I actually use two bases one to brighten and prep my lid and one to hold my shadow in place, thats how I roll, hardcore like that, makes me sound cool right?

Not.

So yeah, I def use two bases in the morning. I use Benefit Lemon Aid to prep and brighten up and I use Urban Decay Primer Potion to get my shadow to last all day but Im up for trying new stuff. Bring it baby!

Sally Hansen Fast Fix Eye Shadow Base is the latest to hit my tester pile.

Jump it for the deets!

Ahh your shadow creasing? Fading? Doesnt want to hang out with you all day? Not mine, it stays around all day and chills with me but if you have that problem, you need a good base!

Sally Hansen Fix Eye Shadow Base actually promises to perform two functions. Itll act as a base for your shadow to adhere to so you have long lasting, crease-free shadow wearin and tearin PLUS it promises to brighten up your eye area and conceal your lids. Even if you arent a shadow kinda girl you can still take advantage of this to conceal your lids.

Does it work?

Well, its not taking the place of my normal regime anytime soon to be honest.

First off the color is beige which actually doesnt brighten my eyes but does successfully age them and make them look tired, not good, so using this to brighten and freshen up eyes is off my list. The formula itself smoothes easily and has a slightly powdery silicon-feel. It actually blends easier than Benefit Lemon Aid due to its interesting texture. Your shadow probably wont fair well with this due to its silicon-like feel as it leaves behind a strange film thats almost greasy which causes a bit of creasing after 2-3 hours of wear. Loose shadow and pigment users can rejoice as it seems to work best with this medium. It creates a good surface for loose powders to adhere to plus it eases blending considerably and allows for a buttery smooth finish when paired up with loose pigments or eye shadow but again it does tend to crease a fair bit after 3 hours of wear, tops.

Sadly, this one fails to work well for me. I actually like how it successfully pairs up with pigments but it doesnt dry down as fully as it should or remain tacky thus causes creases within hours of use.

Overall, if youre seeking a more “natural” primer base thats safe for contact lens wearers and actually hydrates your lid, this could be one to try however for keeping shadow crease-proof, which is what its intended for, Id try something else.

Do you use Sally Hansen Fast Fix Eye Shadow Base?

I love this goodie! It took me awhile to get the hang of it, and a little goes a long long way. And I have to let this set for a bit (I throw it on before blow drying my hair) and I don’t take it past the crease. When I did, it really aged my eyes.

I could just be my eye lids that are prone to dryness, but this locks in my eyeshadows and keeps things in place for hours.

Only downfall for me, if you put too much on, you have to resmooth it because it can crease (before eye shadows)

hey joella! Mmmmm maybe that’s what I am doing wrong! I’ll have to let it stay on a sec before starting my shadow application 😀 I don’t like the color, it really aged by eyes but it worked a treat with loose shadow but not solid…I’ll have to try your tip 😀

      Thanks dear!

I like this product. My eyelids are really red next to my lashes so I smooth this on just my lid. I also use mineral powder and the two work really well together. Just a light smear covers the red and it is blendable. If it doesn’t cover all the redly I just pat it in the spots that are showing through.
