You NEED This: Marc Jacobs Biscotti Splash Review

A good friend of mine knows how to give the best hugs. He’s the type to wrap his arms around you and squeeze the life right out of you as if he hadn’t just seen you yesterday, as if it has been months since we last laid eyes on each other. I look forward to those hugs, they are so very comforting and warm!

Friday I got my hands on Marc Jacobs Biscotti Splash and very first sniff I thought of my friend as it smells just as warm and welcoming as he does when he gives me one of those big squishy hugs.

Jump!

I really need to make a trip to Sephora soon and smell Marc Jacobs Men because I’m ever so curious if Marc Jacobs Biscotti Splash smells similar.

But wait Muse, you mean your friend smells like Biscotti?

No. He does not. Strangely enough Marc Jacobs Biscotti Splash smells way more masculine than feminine but still appeals to my nose. They say scents evoke certain emotions and memories and in this case it reminds me of my friend. The scent is by no means a feminine blend to my nose. It leans more towards being perhaps manly in some aspects and in fairness even unisex if you want to toe the line.

And guess what?

I simply adore it.

Strangely enough Marc Jacobs markets them as them as a “summer treat” but for me it carries a certain warmth that reminds me of a well worn, favorite t-shirt, or a warm, fuzzy sweater, or a good friend’s welcoming hug.

Biscotti Splash has some interesting notes, none of which my nose can really pick apart. Freesia, bergamot, orange blossom, pistachio blossom, and vanilla create a very crisp, spicy fragrance. I put a heavy emphasis on crisp and spicy as this is in fact what gives it that slightly masculine feel. The orange blossom seems to dominate as it’s definitely a warm citrus but not your typical juicy orange smell as the spice lent from the pistachio could be what morphs the blend into something more.

Take my word for it, it’s difficult to explain in words, but it smells like a warm hug to me.

I have to say I’m absolutely in love with it and sobbing my eyes out that it’s available for a very limited time. I was so impressed I quickly logged onto Sephora and ordered a second bottle along with Apple and Pomegranate without even smelling them as I have a funny feeling they will be love as well.

On a side note….The bottles are HUGE! It was of first things that caught my attention when I got it. These are 10oz in size and $68 per bottle. One bottle is going to last you a while. In the photo below I placed the splash next to a 1 oz perfume, as you can see it’s pretty darn big!

Overall, must give this a very big Muse Approval. It’s stunning. So crisp, fresh, and spicy! A huge in a bottle.

Hmmm….I wonder if the random perfume store that is only open in the summer will carry this.

      • Kate

Its this touristy store where I live. I think its called the Alaska Perfume Emporium or something. Basically, its around to sell fancy smancy perfumes to tourists because as we all know, we’re more likely to buy stuff we don’t need while on vacation!

  • Caroline

Wow. Muse you’ve completely sold me on this except for the fact that I do not have $68 to spend on perfume right now. But if I did, I would go run out and buy it and I have NEVER been sold on a perfume before. Sounds intriguing!

caroline LOVE IT! when you have a sec head in store and smell it. It’s so lovely…it’s masculine but it’s also really…I dunno fresh and cozy! 😀 I love it. Could be b/c it reminds me of a very good friend? I dunno but I simply LOVE it!

I intend to drench myself in my Cucumber Splash very soon so I’m prob going to pass on Apple and Pom. Intrigued by the Biscotti though – sounds like fall scent to me. Must sniff now!

    • the Muse

  • savannah

i went to the sephora near my house but couldn’t find this one….

    • the Muse

savannah you can purchase online but they should be in store shortly

Hi! I was just wondering what the staying power of this splash is? Would it be weaker than an eau toilette or eau parfum because it’s a splash? I would love to invest in a bottle of this but seeing as all my other splashes last like an hour, I don’t want to buy some scent that will disintegrate quickly. How long did the scent last when you wore it? Thanks so much!:)

    • the Muse

hi wendy maybe head to sephora and have a little spritz and walk around the mall and see how long it lasts as it will vary from person to person depending on body chem. edt and edp obviously have higher fragrance oil content and will last longer however this lasted around 4 hours on me but it really depends so don’t buy it until you tried it to see how it wears. I always do this with scents at the mall, just squirt at sephora or a store, walk around a bit doing my other shopping and come back to it if I find it’s wearing well on me. hope this helps!

  • Kendra

Do you know how long this will be sold for? I love the smell, but it feels wrong to buy a perfume I wont be able to wear for 6 months at least.

    • the Muse

hi kendra won’t be able to wear for 6 months? why’s that?

I’m not sure, it’s LE so I guess when it’s sold out they will stop making. Perhaps a few months?

      • Kendra

For me, it’s very much so a fall/winter scent. Like you said, it reminds me of a warm sweater or a toasty scarf, very nice but personally too heavy for spring or summer for me personally.
Might have to ask my boyfriend to pick it up for me for my birthday, though. I’m not passing up on a scent as great as that.

        • the Muse

can’t blame ya kendra, well worth a haul imho 😀 It’s quite nice isn’t it?! I agree much better for colder weather!

  • Julianna

I just got a sample size at Sephora today. I think I’m in love! It’s unlike anything I’ve ever smelled. While it is a tad spicy, I think the floral will make it wearable all year long.

Out of curiosity, how have other people around you reacted to the scent?

    • the Muse

isn’t it unique julianna? 😀 I really liked it!

when I wear it at least two people a day ask, “What is that?” 😀 I get alot of comments on it! and compliments!

  • Marie

I was out with my husband and sampled this yesterday, and it is SNUGGLELICIOUS!!! I didn’t rate it at first, but after the dry-down – oh, WOW!!!! Now to get myself a bottle (hint dropping like mad to hubby)!

    • the Muse

someone else that thinks biscotti is snuggl-y fresh! Oh how I heart you Marie 😀 Isn’t it just gorg!?
