EcoTools Bamboo 6 Piece Eye Brush Set Review

Hey Chicks!

Its startin’ to feel like Spring full force around these parts, sure hope it lasts! I’m currently trying to find out where I wanna take my Spring break but it’s looking like I may wait until Summer to get away this year as my schedule is crunched. Is anyone heading on a little holiday soon?

If so you might wanna pack some light friendly makeup and of course, most important, some good brushes.

Check out a darling little 6 piece set from EcoTools after the jump!

EcoTools 6 Piece Eye Brush Set is probably one of the cutest little sets I’ve come across in a while and ideal for traveling with!

Lord, when I pack I tend to try to squeeze everything into my train case. I mean I can be going away for a weekend and somehow I end up hauling over 50 brushes with me, 10 blushes, 100’s of shadows, etc…what is wrong with me?

This little set has all the eye essentials you need plus it comes with it’s own brush roll with attached mirror. Best part about it? It’s small size! It won’t take any space at all to pack and you’ll have room for 10 more blushes, you never know what shade you might wanna wear on a weekend trip away, might as well be prepared right?

You get a total of five brushes (and the brush roll to travel with them) which include:

  • Blender Brush
  • Crease Brush
  • Highlighter Brush
  • Smudger Brush
  • Shader Brush

The brushes are 100% cruelty-free, soft taklon bristles, I’ve reviewed them in great detail prior to this and really loved them. They are super soft, super dense, and quite sturdy for their low end price tag.

Overall, if you’re looking for an inexpensive way to haul a few eye brushes along with you on your next travel expedition (hello, they cost merely $7.99 for the entire set) or you’re just in need of new brushes or cheaper ones, this set is perfect!

Quite cute!

Loves it!

I love my Eco Tools brushes! I currently own the powder and eyeshadow brush, but i’m lemming to have the whole set! I don’t want to pay the huge price for MAC brushes, and Eco Tools brushes are environmentally friendly and super duper soft.

    • the Muse

      hey tohnia 😀

well worth the budget friendly price! You can get an entire set for what you’d pay one mac brush plus have left over change! yay!

  • mercedes

hey muse!!! so now that im falling in love with all that mac has to offer,(lipgloss, lipstick, shadows etc…) i really am quite lost at what brushes to pick,so could you rec brushes for the eye, face, and blush? thanks sooooo much.

    • the Muse

I’ll try to do a post Mercedes on good brushes. Just give me a few 😀 there are SO many brushes to choose from 😀

      • mercedes

oh i know!!!! i went to my mac counter at sephora (scary land,as i like to call it) and literally there were counters of brushes!!! i took one look then walked right out,of course not without being hassled by a MA on the latest and greatest of lipgloss’

        • the Muse

hey mercedes your sephora has a mac counter?! whoa. to my knowledge sephora doesn’t cover MAC!?

          • mercedes

oops, sorries ment to say dillards (its in one of the malls) i was thinking of your ‘yay or nay;sephora stores’ post,*slaps her forehead*

  • Dao

I have this set, I have this set, I have this set!

    *dance around*

Seriously, these brushes work very well. I don’t use my MAC 217 anymore because of the crease brush. Also, they’re super duper soft!

  • electronicfly

I love using short handled brushes for eye makeup. It’s much easier to work with for me since I can get up close to the mirror hehehe.

In your opinion, how do they fare compared to ELF brushes? I actually have a fair collection of brushes already (hehehe =P) but am tempted to get a few different sets from EcoTools =P

P/S: Have you tried Etude House’s skunk brush before? Super cheapo especially when they have their 50% off sales, and though it’s sorta stiff when new it does soften down nicely after a couple of washes. =D

    • the Muse

i do too eletronicfly. funny as I reach for my mac mini brushes from xmas sets more than I do my full size 😀 they are alot more dense, so if you like a denser brush these are fabs. I actually think they are better quality than elf brushes in some cases 😀 I don’t have EH’s skunk but I have a few other ones and really likey 😀 very cheapp for sure!

  • Danie

Hi! I think you mean “bamboo,” not “bombbo.” Might help folks find your review in searches.

  • Phyrra

I love this set, I’ve actually purchased 3 or 4 of this set because I’ve turned into such a makeup brush whore 😛 and I really love the highlighter and angled crease brush in the set. I feel like the only thing it’s missing is an angled eyeliner brush or bent eyeliner brush (probably an angled one would make more sense. I own so many ecoTools brushes now, it’s ridiculous, but I totally love the quality of them. Mine get washed after every use and they’re still super soft and retain their form.

I’m glad you like them 🙂

    • the Muse

lol dd! I hear ya! I have thousands of brushes, it’s obscene. they are pretty fab little guys! tough too!

      • Phyrra

Do you have post anywhere that shows your top favorite brushes?
I’m STILL looking for a brush as good or better than my MAC224 for blending. I do like all my ecoTools blenders, but I find myself reaching for that MAC one again and again.

        • the Muse

hey dd that’s my go too as well! I also like the one from aromaleigh, the fiber optic! I don’t…but I’ll try to get one done 😀

  • Rengirl

I love love love Ecotools but I did not like this brush set at all. They are way too short to be user-friendly (even for a travel size) and doesn’t pick up product well and deposits color unevenly. I just keep mine as a backup for blending…

    • the Muse

aw sorry to here it rengirl.

these can’t take over my mac brushes that’s for sure but for travel I think they are awesome. Dense, soft, and a nice size 🙂

  • Courtney

i have one of the sets of ecotools, and i absolutely adore them. they’re so soft, and they make applying make up a breeze for me!

  • Grace

WTF only $7.99?! so jealous! it’s like three times the price here in Canada 🙁 but on the bright side.. ecotools is fantabulous..

  • Angie Twe

I saw these cute brushes the other day!
Lucky you to have all of them at the ptice of $7.99!

Jet up the price high for here… RM95!
gosh, even if i do a quite conversion from 7.99 to RM and some jet up, it shouldnt be more than RM50!

cry… I wanna have them! They look and feel so nice….!

      • Angie Twe

I know! I’ve been looking at any available stores here in M’sia and S’pore that sells this now.
You know, I went back to the same shop again, with a diff SA luckily and ask to test out the blender brush and its so comfotable!
But to voice out my anger (a little) I screamed at the ‘amazing’ price when the SA told me that is 95. =.=
        huh…
*back to my hunt for these lovely brushes*

  • electronicfly

Oh no with all the feedback raving about the brushes (yet again) I am so tempted to get some myself now! But I’m on a shopping bannnnn *cries*

  • Tsahi baxter

i have the eco tools brushes and i LOVE them! very durable and really picks up the product. def my favs for everyday use!

  • Tigress

I am totally in love with these little brushes, I’m actually going to buy more this week. The crease brush is especially useful. If possible, I’m buying solely Eco Tools brushes from now on. They are available in many stores, are great quality, affordable and best of all, synthetic and cruelty free. After doing research on natural hair makeup brushes, I just have an aversion to putting on my eyeshadow with a pony or a squirrel. 🙁

  • cara

how would you compare ecotools vs. essence of beauty? I have had an Eob set for several years and wondering if ecotools is better?

  • Lisa Moon

WHOA, ok, this is a really old post/comment thread, dunno if this will even be seen down here… but thought I’d vouch for the above commenter, Ligia, on the suggestion to use iHerb for eco tools brushes as a great option for your Canadian readers!

I live in Canada and the brushes are typically twice the cost of the US, but we’re always afraid of shipping and duties to Canada…

Well, I looked into it and found the brushes I was going to buy off Amazon Canada for, as I said, half price or so on iHerb.

Checked their shipping costs and the costs of duty/import to Canada for such items as well as shipping.

Now, iHerb doesn’t ship free to Canada but there was a *great* deal, perfect for ordering all the brushes they carry (also have Real Tech ones! Aiiee!).

The import fee to Canada was less than 3% (aka $3 for every $100 you spend) and the shipping deal… Anyway, I calculated that for the brushes I alone I saved about $30 (!!!) from what they would have cost me to get here. Even with the shipping, duties (I don’t count the taxes as they’re normal taxes we’d pay on stuff bought here anyway) and STILL saved good money!

PLUS my order shipping was too big for the flat rate/under 4 lbs option, so I got the next option (courier) and it was to my door in 5 days – including 2 weekend days.

    BOOM!

And that’s not even getting into the money I saved on my favourite, organic, all-natural toothpaste and cat treats, lol! I am one impressed shopper!

NOT trying to toot one company’s horn for them, but as a fellow Canadian shopper, I know how frustrating it can be to know our neighbours to the south can get the same items for much less. It IS possible to shop across the border if you’re careful and do a tiny bit of research (clothes can have high duties, for example).

Sorry for the length, but hope this helps!

PS New fan of your site – you’re awesome! So thorough, not pretentious! Having a blast reading TONS of posts, old and new! xx

      Hi Lisa

Sorry delayed reply 😀 Thanks so much I’m really happy you’re loving Musings of a Muse! Thanks for adding your input on these brushes and the info about iHerb as I have plenty of Canadian readers who would def find this helpful!

      Cheers!

  • Ashley

Hey Muse! 🙂 Wow this is super late lol but do you know the exact measurements of the brushes? Because I just got this empty palette and I want to know if these travel sized brushes will fit in it along with all of my eyeshadows.
I don’t even think you’ll see this but thanks!
