Lancome Summer 2010 Review and Swatches: Lancome Bronze Riviera Review and Swatches

Wow, so impressed with Lancome Bronze Riviera at the moment. Anyone check it out? Could prove a little bit uneventful if you’re going by promo photos alone as I do believe its something you have to check out at your local counter or maybe even purchase an item or two to get the full effect.

As for me, total loves it!

Jump!

What is it?

A Playful Glow of Bronze. A Celebratory Pop of Pink.

Be lavished in shades of gold and bronze that jet you away to the beautiful places and faces of the Riviera. The most luxurious elements of nature all come together now to create this summers hottest color collection”with pops of pink to add a happy play of color to any look.

The Good….

Lancome Summer 2010 really does bring the bronze and the pink into a marriage most wonderful. I love how they take two completely different colors and create a cocktail of beautifully Summer-y shades that really compliment each other. As I mentioned above at first glance it could prove a little uneventful and even at a glance or a swatch you may not feel a twinkle of excitement but use it, create a look with it, and I guarantee you’ll fall in love.

The star of the collection is the Lancome Bronze Riviera Palette in Pink, Party, and Pretty. The palette is $45 and contains six eyeshadow which you can use to create two beautiful Summer looks or mix and match to create a variety of looks, use your imagination and I’m sure you’ll come up with some beautiful looks. I found the palette extremely easy to use as its made up of either of three shades to create a warm rose look or a flattering bronze brown one.

The first row contains Flower (creamy beige), Fresh Rose (golden cranberry), and Kitten Heel (metallic golden pink). At first glance I was thinking that perhaps Kitten Heel would be an amazing dupe for MAC Expensive Pink but its not as Kitten Heel applies way more subtly. As I mentioned above I thought the palette was incredibly simple to use. The first row of shadows creates a flawless golden rose look that’s both warm and very flattering for the Summer. To create the look you can use Flower to prep and to highlight your high brow, proceed to follow up by using Kitten Heel from lid to crease, and a little Fresh Rose on the outer V blended slightly inward. Presto! Gorgeous!

The bottom row is equally as beautiful as the top. Made up of the shades, Tropiques Glow (gold bronze), Lounging (muddy chocolate), and Lava (off black with gold shimmer), these colors create the warmer of the two looks. I honestly couldn’t find a use for Lava but its best suited to lining with if you want. For my look below I simply used Tropiques Glow all over the lid and crease and Lounging in the outer V swept slightly inward. Done! Gorgeous, sunny glowing look.

Another fine piece of the collection are the three shades of Lancome Ageless Minerale Blush released. I tried out the shade Brilliant Berry which is stunning. Its a very warm shade of dusty rose that lights up my face! It compliments the pink row of shadows in the palette. It blends flawlessly on my cheeks and makes me glow. I really need to hit up my local Lancome counter and check out the other two shades released as these are keepers.

And finally Lancome Tropiques Bamboo Bronzer is a HUGE compact featuring a stunning tropical imprint on the powder. Mind you the beautiful imprint is sadly an overspray which quickly disappears with a few uses but the actual powder is a faintly shimmery shade of coppery bronze which comes across peachy on my cheeks. Its one of the easier shades of bronzer I’ve come across to use and is quite flattering on my face, no muddy gross brown simply a burst of fresh peach with an underlay of subtle shimmering bronze. Of course, it multitasks on body as well as face and cheeks. The palette is 1.41 oz in size and $45 which makes it HUGE. It is limited edition but honestly you’ll probably never run out of this size palette so you won’t be crying when its gone as this baby is sticking around a very long time as its the size of a music CD (I placed a regular size blush on top of it for size comparison).

The Bad…..

Overspray on the bronze is a tad disappointing but nothing we aren’t familiar with from many of our past forays into Lancome and Estee Lauder highlighter and bronzer palettes.

Who Might Love It?

  • Anyone looking for both a bronze-y warm and warm rosy look! Why choose when you can have both?
  • Anyone wanting to sport a sophisticated yet flirty Summer look!

Who Might Not Love It?

  • Anyone with really light skin might not be able to pull all these shades off.

Overall, I must say I was ever so pleasantly surprised and delighted. I knew I wanted and would love the mineral blush but the eye palette was a wonderful surprise and simply gorgeous. I probably won’t be able to ever get proper use out of ALL that bronzer but I love having it in my collection for days I do want to sport a warmer look. I had alot of fun with this collection and thought the looks were some of the easiest I’ve created in a long time and still managed to look really gorgeous too.

Lancome Bamboo Bronzer on Cheeks, That’s MAC Pret a Papier on my lips (tell ya more ’bout it next week!), and the warmer bronzes/browns of the Lancome Bronze Riviera Palette

Golden Rose shades from the Lancome Bronze Riviera Palette and Lancome Mineral Blush (on cheeks obviously) in Brilliant Berry.

Honestly, I’d check it out at your local Lancome counter. See if you can get an MA to try out some of the colors on you, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised!

In the pan, these shadows remind me of Stila’s quad palette in Marrakesh…however, I was kinda disappointed with the Stila palette after I bought it! Lancome’s colors look more like what I was hoping Stila’s would be…I may have to check it out!

  • Tracy

That Bamboo Bronzer is one piece of gorgeousness! And you look gorgeous too! Does the design continue all the way or is it just on top?
And I skipped over Pret a Paper today-after seeing how good it looks on you I will be going back to pick it up. Thanks for the review!

    • the Muse

aw thanks tracy. overspray comes off after a few uses but the design does remain the same although given time it’ll prob wear away!

oh GO! PaP was not on my list but its gorgeous 😀

      Thank you!

  • Nia

This one is easy, we will apparently not get in in Europe 😉

But I love the colours on you, a lot 🙂
And you are right, the bronzer with the rose mixed in is a nice twist and change of pace. Good idea by EL.

Hope you had a nice weekend 🙂

  • Fabiola

Wow! Those bronze/brown shades from the Lancome pallette really make your eyes pop so beautifully! Honestly, I can’t be bothered with eye make up most of the time. I am too lazy to have to use a separate eye make up remover before using my facial cleanser, lol.

  • Marina

I KNEW that was Kitten Heel in there! I’m soo lusting for that color. My friend had it on the other day and it was so gorgeous…I love duotones that naturally shade themselves…if that made sense haha

  • Robyn

    • the Muse

oh yes su I have that bronzer too…was my first real intro to lovely bronzers 😀 as I avoid them alot 😀 or did before. Aw thanks

  • knownever

Oh bummer, the shades in that palette are much nicer in the pan. But that bronzer is crazy! thank’s for the reference blush on top because I’ve heard it described as CD sized, but it’s hard to imagine so it’s good to see relatively.

  • Ceriene

Whoo. I skipped out on the Cabana Coral’s palette from Bobbi, seeing as I’m finding it way overpriced and the lip palette rather unnecessary. I’m definitely snagging this palette from Lancome instead. Such gorgeous warm colors!

Thanks for the review, Muse! These shades look stunning on you. :>

  • Janet

ooh, so pretty~!! love the colors, and they look lovely on you 🙂

  • Katherine Rosado

Oh Lancome ES how I lurve thee! LOL Yes I will be going out on errands tomorrow and will see if I can pick the ES palette up at the local PX. Thanks muse!

  • Phyrra

I think Lava looks pretty. You could totally use it to deepen or darken one of the crease colors, with a fiber optic brush of course.

  • Marce

You look great sporting these colours! I love the look of the eyeshadow palette. The bronzer is stunning too, but I’d take forever to break through the pretty pattern!

    • the Muse

aw thanks marce *hugs* too kind of you! heck yes LOL it’s huge!

  • grace

    hi muse!

love love love your pictures! you look so bright eyed and fresh faced, the blush really works with your skin tone, and the eye shadows make your eyes gorg without stealing all the attention. definitely a keeper. i just might have to stop by the makeup counter next time i get off work..=]

    • the Muse

hi grace thank you so much your comment made my day 😀 its definitely worth a look at!

  • Elaina

Okay, so your review had me drooling over the eyeshadow palette. So…. I drove out to my “local” Lancome last night…. and they’re not getting in the summer collection until “next week at the earliest” I hate living in the middle of nowhere!! Lol I think I’m going to have to order it directly from Macy’s or something, b/c this place said they’re only getting 3 of the eyeshadow palettes…. can’t really take that seriously! LMAO 😀

    • the Muse

three Elaina? gosh where do you live?! 😀 perhaps Macy as a GWP offer which would make an order online so worth it!
