New In Beauty: NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base and NARS Skin Smoothing Face Prep

Dudes, what up?

Kinda a crazy kinda day for me today. How about you? Hanging tough on this Hump day? Almost over now and tomorrow is Thursday and right after….the WEEKEND! w00t!

Hey, did anyone notice that NARS has some new base products out?

Check ’em!

Tis a lightweight primer for eyes to keep cream and powder eye color looking fresh and brilliant all day long yo! Looks white right? Wonder what that’s all about. I think I need to order some so I can investigate further because I’m never fully convinced that I need to stay from my beloved UDPP.

Mmm looks suspiciously like Clarins Instant Smooth doesn’t it? Its a facial primer designed to minimize appearance of fine lines and pores.

Whatcha think?

Can NARS tempt you away from your UDPP and Clarins Instant Smooth?

Lemming alert?

NARS is coming out with its own eyeshadow primer? Finally! Definitely try it out because I would love to see your review on it 🙂

  • Cindy (Prime Beauty)

Very curious about the smoothing face prep–I’m all over anything that promises to make me look smooth & flawless!

  • Kristina

I was just looking at this stuff on Sephora this morning. Highly tempted to order the eye primer but I think I’ll let you spend your money first! 🙂

  • aretha

looking forward to your review, muse! i have high expectations for NARS products as it is my fav brand 😉

    • the Muse

me too aretha wish me luck it isn’t crummy 😀 the concealer they released a year or so ago totally had me hyped and turned out crap 🙁 hope this doesn’t suffer the same!

      • aretha

ahhh i share your disappointment with their concealers! although i love their color products i have to say that their concealer is crap! *pfffffftt* fingers crossed that this one works for you my dear! ^_~

        • the Muse

omg aretha weren’t they AWFUL!? I hated them! I really though the duo concealer would be my favorite thing ever but I used it once and tossed it into the makeup graveyard such a sad day! How can a company who excels at awesome blushes and shadow create crap concealer?!

NARS can always tempt me. Primers last me a crazy long time. So the $30 for NARS isn’t bad for something thats going to last me over a year. I went on a primer binge on Sasa a few moths back, so I think I’m set for the next five years.

      • Comrade_Garlic

I got Sana Pore Putty Clear and Nameraka. Daryia Kenash for face and the one for nose (which I use all over). That same week I bought Laneige Skin Veil and Lioele Pore Magic Balm, which feels like Clarins Instant Smooth.

  • LINDARRAGNAR

Oh that smoothing base look so tempting <3 but .26 thats such a dissapointing number especially with that price tag :'( oh well a girl can dream

  • PJ

Hmmm mayhaps there should be a side by side comparison between this new primer, Clarins, and the L’Oreal version?? I found that the original NARS primer was silky, but a little too light for African American skin.

    • the Muse

hey pj! that would be awesome sadly I don’t think I’m getting the NARS primer 😛 but def getting the eye one, just ordered it 😀 if I get to Sephora I’ll see if I can do a quickie swatch of this!

  • Laura

Ought might need to look at that face prep. But reminds me of Benefits Dr. Feel-good.

Which face primer was it that you just reviewed and said it didn’t “pill up”?

    • the Muse

hi laura. quite a few I’ve tried that didn’t pill up hun 😀

      • Laura

HMMMM Maybe it was the new UDPP Face Prep?
I gotta look back – it was lately

I love smashbox but it pills up – is it the silicon?

        • the Muse

Nope that didn’t pill on me Laura 😀

Smashbox def pills on me. 😀 silicon for sure on the smashbox.

  • jonnie

Hmm… I’m curious to see how you review this. It would take quite the miracle product for me to consider straying from my UDPP. As for the base… I got the Korres Querctin and Oak primer in the VIB sale and so far I absolutely love it! It feels light and smells lovely, and my face feels sooo smooth when I use it! I’ve been using it under UD Urban Defense that just got released. Love! I’m def not trading that in any time soon! 🙂

    • the Muse

Me too Jonnie. UDPP is the best! 😀 YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY doesn’t it make your skin look so alive? Love that primer 😀

      • jonnie

Yah! I just went for a run… I sweated off the rest of my makeup, but thanks to my UDPP the eye makeup was still intact! 🙂

The Korres Q&O stuff I’ve used so far has been straight up awesome! I have been using the day cream as well and I am very pleased with it. The primer totally rocks my world… I really want to try the night cream now. I was hoping for a Korres FF sale but sadly I haven’t seen anything. I may have to settle for free shipping. I think they are doing that right now…

        • the Muse

god love me some UDPP Jonnie best stuff every! I believe they have 20-25% off somewhere if this helps. check retailmenot.com 🙂

  • Meghan

I wonder if the eyeshadow base will keep the nars eyeshadow pencils from the holiday collection from creasing? Because I bought all 3 ($72!) and no matter what I did they creased. Which is too bad because they’re sooo pretty!

  • Angel

$24 for a lid primer??? Seems really steep to me. I guess I remain naive, but I’m still blown away by some of the prices on new releases as of late. I’ll stick with my $16 Bare Escentuals. It’s cheaper, more natural, silicone & paraben-free, plus it rocks my shadows all day without budging. I use it even on days w/ no shadow just to even out the discolorations on my eyelid. Thanks again for all of your hard work on this blog. I lurk here everyday! 🙂

    • the Muse

aw thanks angel good to see you commenting instead of lurking *hugs*

Yea I agree $24 is steep particularly b/c I pay $18 for UD and that seems high yak! haven’t tried the BE one but been tempted a time or two!

      • jonnie

I put myself on a good cycle with the UDPP – I tend to need a new one right about at FF time so I buy one then and it usually lasts me until the next 30%. 😀

  • Beauty For A Living

Hi! I’ve already seen the eye shadow base in action and it is AMAZING!
It’s not available in my country yet but in a couple of weeks, it will hit stores and I am willing to plunk down money for this!!!
