Tweezerman ProCurl Lash Curler Review

I need a hero Im holding on for a hero ’til the end of the night!
Hes gotta be strong!
And hes gotta be fast!
And hes gotta be fresh from the fight!
I need a hero Im holding on for a hero ’til the morning light!
Hes gotta be sure!
And its gotta be soon!
And hes gotta be larger than life!

And he better curl my lashes up right…..that’s more important than all that strong, fast, larger than life stuff.

Shu Uemura is exiting the US market shortly and the only way you’ll be able to snatch up your beloved favorites is online. If you’re not an online shopper, you’re out of luck my dears. Speaking of Shu, my favorite Shu product by far, evers, is the Shu Uemura Curler. Tis the Cadillac of all curlers in my humblest opinion. Of course, it has that one very nasty little downfall of not having refills available once you finish the two it comes with grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

No worries, check out the Tweezerman ProCurl Lash Curler, mind you its not the Cadillac of curlers but it could pass for a suped up BMW.

Check it!

What is it?

A fancy fabulous rose gold eye lash curler to create long, fluttering lashes!

The Good….

Tweezerman ProCurl Lash Curler grasps lashes from the roots and creates longer, fuller, curlier lashes in one go. The curler has a thick set pad so it cushions lashes well as it curls. The wide opening allows for coverage of every lash and is ideal for any eye type including Asian. Overall, it performs quite good with a few minor quirks. The curler itself is very attractive as instead of gold they embraced a rose gold design, very elegant and pretty! The handles are a little longer than Shu’s and it feels very comfortable when I’m using it due to this. Oh hey, did I mention it comes with a ton of replacement pads?

The Bad…..

I like the longer handle and it fits my hand very comfortably but its a tad stiff first few uses so it doesn’t open and close as easily or loosely as I’m accustomed too. I do have to be a extra careful when using it as the reflection of the gold makes it difficult to see if I’m grasping my lashes correctly or not.

Who might like it?

  • Anyone who wants an easy to locate curler (it can be purchased online at Tweezerman, or at Sephora, or major drugstores such as Walgreens).
  • Anyone who wants a curler that has refills available (Shu does not offer this option which I find absurd).
  • Anyone who wants longer, full lashes!

Who might not like it?

  • Anyone who’s unwilling to pay $20 for a lash curler.

Final Thoughts…..

I found it a little disappointing that it was actually a $1 more than Shu’s version however you can purchase one of their regular curlers for way less than a Shu one ranging in prices from $9-$12.50, its just the gold pro version that’s a little costly. I love the idea of owning a curler that I can get refills for and that makes this a great pick because really spending $19 on Shu’s and not having the ability to purchase something as simple as refills is a tad silly (Yes, I know Shiseido’s fits the Shu but its still absurd I can’t buy original Shu ones). It beats out Shu in terms of elegance as I find the rose gold way more attractive than Shu’s regular LE gold curler.

All in all if you’re searching for a professional series curler that’s both functional and beautiful I’d say check out the Tweezerman ProCurl Lash Curler.

Quite nice!

Shu is exiting US market…nooooooooooooooooooooooo what am I gonna do without my favorite oil cleanser?:(((((((((

  • Crystal

Wow, your lashes look amazing without mascara! This curler opens them up really well for you.

  • Elysia

Uhm please explaine…refill? Are you referring to the black spongy thingy? Why would you need a refill? Do they deteriorate?

    Just curious is all!

    • the Muse

hi elysia yes the sponge thing is a refill. they get pretty nasty with prolonged use plus they wear away. I change mine every year as with daily use it simply doesn’t work as well as it once did. All the pressing and depressing wears the pad away. my shu one had a big old nasty chunk in it 😀 lol it wore clear away!

  • Resa

Meee! I don’t have the one like yours, but I got a Tweezerman eyelash curler in the black Friday sales (50% off all beauty tools!). I even picked up a set of crazy Agatha Ruiz de la Prada tweezers.

I’ve never tried the Shu though, but I love my Tweezerman!

    • the Muse

resa awesome 😀 damn I didn’t see the 50% off was it at tweezerman!? I missed that 😀

  • Chelley

Interesting. I like Shu’s curler because it does wonders, but it’s too curved for my Asian eyes. Are these pads made up on silicon too like Shu’s? I have Shiseido’s curler, but it doesn’t work as well as Shu’s.

    • the Muse

very interesting to hear chel! I’ve always felt the shu had a nice straight line that fit the contour of the Asian eye well! ha fully to hear not. no…mmm feels plastic, bit harder than the cushy ones from Shu 😀 I do too and prefer Shu over Shiseido myself!

  • Christine

Dang, that is one heck of a lash curler. I need to get my hands on this.

  • Donna

OK strange question… How can I make my lashes LESS curly? They are so curly, sometimes they curl over on themselves, which makes my lashes look shorter. Is there some magic mascara that makes them straighter (and thus look longer)? This is not a joke.

    • the Muse

I’ve no idea donna LOL can’t say that I have this prob. if they are curling over each other try a lash comb to separate 😀 that should help a little bit not sure about making them straight tbh!

  • Hailee

Musey! When do you normaly replace your pads? I didn’t know there was like a “time” haha…

I thunk I’m going to have to snach up the shu one today before it goes over seas

    • the Muse

hailee depends on when they start to wear down or when they get a little too cruddy to wash off. Normally I replace them every 9-12 mons. 😀

  • Christa

I was annoyed with the Shu only having 1 replacement pad, so basically you’d have to buy a new metal curler every year, which seemed wasteful.

I bought the exact Tweezerman curler (gold tone, and everything), and after 6 months the metal band (fixed on the top) snapped off right next to my eye.

I’m *lucky* I didn’t scratch my cornea, but I did get ruptured blood vessels in my eye.

Just a heads up of warning that it is not as sturdy as Shu’s. Maybe it was just mine, but it was pretty scary.

    • the Muse

      christa exactly 🙁

      OMG that’s awful! sheesh that’s scary 🙁

    • the Muse

hi nancy not sure hun just tried the LE one but I’m sure they are just as good as the pro

  • Ginger

I buy black rubber fillers in my country Singapore at Daiso. This is a $2 shop, so everything sells for $2. ($2 SGD)
Its 6 fillers in a pack and I tried them, they fit both my Shiseido and 2 Koji eye lash curlers 🙂
I assume they should fit any eye lash curlers, since I already fitted them on all 3 different types of curlers.

u can email me if you wish to get them I can CP them for you

    • the Muse

aw we don’t have daiso in new york sadly ginger only CA 😀 aww thank you dear *hugs* I appreciate that greatly and may take u up on that 😀 worth a try!

  • jonnie

I’m not a big fan of eyelash curlers… I just wanted to say that this post got that song stuck in my head for the last few days! I went around at work singing it and got it stuck in other people’s heads as well. 🙂 Imagine a bunch of Army people going around singing they need heroes… 😀

  • Chelley

What’s the difference between this pro and the regular curler? I got the regular and I like it better than Shu, Tarte and Shiseido actually. It fits my Asian eyes better. I want to try this one if it’s actually better than the regular one. lol..

  • Margzybaby

Hey Muse! Do you recommend using another brand of rubber fillers for my shu curlash?? Or will i sacrifice a lot if i dont get the original ones?

    • the Muse

def not magzybaby. Shu’s curler is good b/c of the large curve that fits so well across the eye and of course the rubber fillers. Some people like to use shiseido refills but I don’t recommend it. Just toss it and get a new one if you have run out of refills. Imho the refills make up what’s so great about the curler to begin with!

  • Georgie

Hi, I live in the U.K and love theese curlers! but cannot find replacment pads anywhere! 🙁 Any suggestions?
