Urban Decay Summer Collection 2010: Urban Decay Guardian Angel Spray Moisturizer Review

‘ello loves!

How’s the world treating you today?

I’m great aside from this silly weather which is really warm one day and really cold the next, not cool, not cool at all. I’m also quite excited about the 11th making his reappearance on Saturday. w00t! Can’t wait! Tickin’ down the minutes and hours until the chaos begins.

I’ve been playing around with the new Urban Decay mists this week. Anyone else haul ’em?

Jump ahead for my review on the Urban Decay Guardian Angel Spray Moisturizer.

I personally love the idea of spraying on my moisturizer! As the warmer weather approaches we normally wear alot less in terms of clothes. Our makeup and skincare life mimics that of our clothes one as we end up turning in our richer creams, lotions, and potions for something incredibly lighter come the humidity and hot Summer sun. That’s why Urban Decay Guardian Angel Spray Moisturizer seems like an ideal little treat for Summer wearin’ and tearin’.

I personally don’t need a rich cream for the Summer and something lighter is way better so I can totally embrace a spray moisturizer, heck that would work fab.

What is it?

Urban Decay Guardian Angel Spray Moisturizer is an ultra-fine, mist on moisturizer. Its a time release technology to hydrate your skin up to 24 hours so it gives your face a smooth, hydrated appearance all through the warm weather minus an oily, greasy feel plus it has an SPF 8 for sun protection and completely vegan ingredients.

The Good….

As I said the idea behind a spray on moisturizer is incredible plus it contains SPF…? I’m on that. It’s vegan ingredients should appeal to many plus anyone with super oily skin will feel benefited by a product that won’t add oil to their face. The formula is a fine mist with a fresh scent.

The Bad…..

I think I honestly have alot more bad to say about the product than I do good. First off I was surprised to see that Skindinavia are actually part of the genius behind all four of the new Urban Decay mists. This isn’t really bad but it simply means if you already own many Skindinavia mists you probably don’t need to spend extra $ on Urban Decay mists as they are basically the same formulas. Guardian Angel has the potential to be a great product but some reason it fails to work for me as when I spray it on it feels like it leaves a film behind. My first few tries the formula made my face feel like it had a dry mask-like film across my face….My next few tries I noticed that it felt hydrating on but it still left behind a slightly tacky film. I tried using it to prep my face for moisturizer so I use this and followed up with moisturizer but this made things worst as I ended up with quite a gooey mess on my face. I’m not sure what my skin isn’t liking but I can only assume it might be the SPF that is causing this strange film to develop. It makes my face feel a little tight after use. Needless to say I felt just about everything but hydrated. I was thinking perhaps anyone with oily skin might feel like it almost mattifies the skin. Sadly, I also felt like an SPF 8 wasn’t really great sun protection for me.

Who might like it?

  • Anyone who wants a multitasking moisturizer with SPF that’s fast and easy to use!
  • Anyone who desires a lighter moisturizer in the Summer.
  • Anyone with oily skin!

Who might not like it?

  • Anyone who desires high sun protection!
  • Anyone who isn’t comfortable using spray moisturizers!
  • Anyone who already owns Skindinavia products.

Final Thoughts….

I’m pretty disappointed in this as I had high hopes for it. I’m going to continue using it and see how my skin reacts but so far testing has been a bust for me. I’m just hopeful the other three mists I purchased won’t disappoint me. So far Guardian Angel just failed for my skin for some odd reason. I look forward to Summer when I’m a bit oily as maybe this will work a bit better for those days.

Anyone try yet?

Hmm, that’s a rather disappointing review… mine just shipped yesterday so I can try it soon…

Hi Muse, what about the de-slick spray? Good or bad?? Been waiting for someone to review it 🙂

Awww. I’m really dissapointed to hear this isn’t awesome! I was excited for the mists. Also, on a purely aesthetic/ sentimental note, I love the packaging! I think it’s cute that it’s called ‘Guardian Angel’ and it has a biker on the packaging (like a Hell’s Angel, I assume). My dad has ridden a Harley as long as I can remember, so the nod to bikers gave me an extra little warm and fuzzy. I might still have to get it just for that! 😛

hey chelle! I liked it too. My dad has a two harleys so I thought it was rather cute 😀 I’m kinda obsessed with bikes which is why it appealed. I’d try it if I were you. You might like it. I’m still trying it myself but so far it doesn’t like me for some reason 🙁

Ugh..what is up with the ugly packaging?? So not the usual cool Urban Decay look. Thanks for the review Muse! Very helpful, as always ^^

For anyone disappointed with the UD mist, I use a Body Shop product called Vitamin E Face Mist which I highly recommend! No SPF though, but a great product all the same. Thanks for the review, Muse, I’m always interested to see what you think about the new items, even if I don’t intend to buy them.

In agreement with Betty there, I don’t understand why they’ve taken this direction with the packaging either, and not really a fan of the new style they now put their name in on the packaging.
