Beauty on a Budget: Physicians Formula Bamboo Wear Bambuki Brush Review

Hey loves!

So, I totally have a thing for mega size kabuki brushes even though I don’t technically embrace the world of bronzer. I mean when you think of a massive kabuki you likely associate it with bronzing powder right?

Yea well, the Muse’s mentality differs on occasion.

I recently purchased the Physicians Formula Bamboo Wear Brush because I was all about, “OMG what a fabulously big old brush to dust on powder for Summer!” and than I was like, “ZOMG how fab for blush?” Don’t worry the second though was quickly erased from my head considering how heavy handed I am with blush already…seriously? Big old kabuki+heavy hand=OOOOOO no she didn’t use that much blush!

Anyway….

I wanted the Physcians Formula Bamboo Wear Bambuki Brush ANYWAY! So I purchased it for a mere $4 bucks.

Jump for the review.

What is it?

A huge kabuki brush for applying loose powder or bronzer. Designed with a full head of natural hair and a naturally sustainable bamboo handle.

The Good…

Its huge size is rather ideal for buffing on mineral powder or using to apply bronzer on face or body.

The Bad….

I really wanted to love this but sadly it isn’t as great as I was hoping for. The bristles are really itchy on my face. Total pet peeve of mine is an itchy brush and this falls well in with being itchy and scratchy on face. Who wants to buff powder on using a scratchy brush? Ouch!

Sadly, not only does it shed like a cat but the bristles are way guilty of splitting towards the outer edge of the brush. I actually find the splitting more annoying than the shedding as it leaves the brush looking really messy plus it makes it difficult to apply product with a brush that looks like a wilted plant.

Who Might Like It?

  • You MIGHT like it if you’re looking for a really inexpensive brush to use on your body (I wouldn’t rec it for your face).

Who Might Not Like It?

  • Anyone who likes soft brushes.
  • Anyone who can’t stand shedding brushes.

Final Thoughts…

Definitely wanted to love it but even it’s super cheap price tag couldn’t sway my opinion. I’ll stick with my MAC Kabuki and call it a day.

Anyone try the Physicians Formula Bambuki?

Did you like it?

Not so much?

It looks scratchy. I’m lemming the Too Faced retractable kabuki pretty hard.

PF’s brushes are so bad it’s embarassing. I got one once included with a refillable compact I bought and I threw it out right away. bamboo as sustainable as it might be is just not a good material for the bristles of a makeup brush. they also absorb the dyes from whatever you use and get permanent stains. gross

oh wow knownever didn’t notice that but for sure gross!

Aww too bad this didnt work out. I love big kabukis but they definately need to be SOFT. Have you tried Eco tools bronzer brush? It is HUGE but definately still super super soft! plus, its inexpensive and is environmentally friendly. its my new favourite brush! 🙂

Yikes! Sounds like just about everything that’s undesired in a kabuki brush :/ I’ve been looking for an inexpensive kabuki for loose powder mineral makeup so I think I’ll get the Too Faced Flatbuki instead
