Bobbi Brown Beach Shimmer Brick Review and Swatches

Hi chicks!

Who checked out Bobbi’s Beach Club? Bueller? Bueller? Anyone?

Someone was saying in the comments today that Bobbi Brown takes completely boring shades of color and just makes them so want-able. Is that even a word? Never you mind, fact is it’s very true.

Bobbi sticks to really neutral, natural shades of color but she still manages to sneak so much fun into them.

Jump ahead for a little peep at the new Bobbi Brown Beach Shimmer Brick!

What Is It?

Five bars of warm, pearlized shimmer to create a beautiful seaside glow. Lightly dust over cheeks to highlight!

The Good…

I think there was a little controversy about this particular Shimmer Brick being a little bit of a rerun. I know alot of Bobbi’s Shimmer Bricks do look alot alike and after seeing the promo images I was positive that the Beach Shimmer Brick would indeed be pretty similar to other shades I already own.

But no worries….

Pretty different in my humble opinion.

Asia was lucky enough to get both the Beach and the Pink Oyster Shimmer Brick which I am currently lemming so hard I’m seeing stars (I know I’ll cave and track it down sooner or later) and we got Beach only.

Beach is quite warm but not as dark as the Bronzer brick and not as light as Pink Quartz. The shades graduate from sandy beiges to darker shades of coppery bronze. The overall finish is a warm sandy bronze look.

You can pretty multitask with the brick and use the shades to create a shimmering eye look as well if you like.

The Bad….

One thing about Shimmer Bricks is you do need to be a bit of a rocket scientist to apply. I do stumble when applying and I tend to over do it big time so just be aware when applying otherwise you will look all kinda of disco ball like.

Sadly, if you aren’t keen on a shimmer highlight you probably won’t love this as it does indeed contain a fair dose of delicious shimmer. Me? I don’t mind as I eat sparkle on my corn flakes but some folks aren’t keen on shimmer particularly on their face.

Who Might Like It?

  • Shimmer-a-holics!
  • Anyone who likes collecting Bobbi’s Shimmer Bricks!
  • Anyone looking for a warmer highlighter for cheeks and face!
  • Anyone who likes a product that multitasks (use it on your face and your eyes!).

Who Might Not Like It?

  • Anyone who hates shimmer.
  • Anyone who stumbles around with highlighters (this takes a good hand for application).

Final Thoughts…

Although the debate is out whether Beach is a must have or not I’m happy to have had the chance to have tested it out and chances are I’d have purchased it for myself either way since the shade isn’t like any brick I already own. It’s very warm, it’s very pretty, and it’ll make a nice pair up with a little peachy cheek stain!

As always a nice one from Bobbi.

Has anyone hauled the Beach Shimmer Brick yet?

Is it on your wish list?

Not so much?

Share it!

I’d love to hear about your adventures with the Bobbi Brown Beach Club Collection.

Have you ever tried the Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips? I’ve been tempted lately but am hesitant to purchase because I don’t know what the color payoff is like.

    • the Muse

I have jerseygirl but I don’t really like them. They are compared to BB SB’s and are quite pigmented but I dunno they applied weird on me

  • helena

Hi musey, sadly asia only has pink oyster and not beach. I had to order beach from nordstrom because i want it as well!

    • the Muse

oh helena you told me that *smacks forehead* but someone else in ‘pore had mentioned to me they got beach! how weird! must be a nordie’s purchase 😀

  • Brooke

Looks pretty…however a.) Not a fan of shimmer b.) I think my skin is anti-Bobbi…for some reason her makeup does not compliment me at all…I have that issue with a couple other MU brands…it’s weird.

    • the Muse

hmm brooke really? at first I wasn’t a BB fan AT ALL but the more I tried the more crazed I got now I’m a full fledged fan girl!

I’ve had the Shimmer Brick in Brownie for years and have hardly made a dent, so I don’t see the need to get this new one. To apply, I use the Smashbox Fan Brush #22, which does a great job at keeping the application light and applying the powder right where I want it — which is usually at the tops of my cheekbones.

    • the Muse

oh brownie is a nice one. I can understand why you aren’t wanting beach johanna as shimmer bricks are huge and def can’t get a dent in 😀 fan brush is perfect for application, smart girl!

    • the Muse

hi art I’m not an expert hun but I try to brush it along the upper cheekbones with a fine brush….smile, locate your cheek bones and brush a little above.

  • Anitacska

Thank you for enabling me, lol! I was all set to pass on this as I have every other SB, but will get it now! I’m also getting Oyster Pink SB, a very kind friend on MUA is CP-ing it for me from HK. I saw it on eBaythe other day (for about $70!), and had to have it, so called on my friend. She’s CP-d other Asia exclusive stuff for me (Guerlain) before, she’s so lovely. 🙂

  • Lesley

  • sarah alisette
