Bobbi Brown Natural Finish Long Lasting Foundation Review and Swatches

What up peeps?

Oh my god, holy sunny days! Finally we got a little Summer in New York! Tis 90 degrees outside, loves it! Now that the heat wave is settling in I’ll have to start dragging out all my best techniques for natural, flawless, light wear foundation.

My first pick?

Bobbi Brown Natural Finish Long Lasting Foundation.

Jump!

What Is It?

An oil free, all day wearing soft matte foundation that promises 8 hours of wear and has an SPF 15.

The Good…

I love this stuff.

I got a pitch several weeks ago and I never really though about even bothering to try it but a friend of mine raved about it (she works for BB so who better to know about it right?) and I decided it was something I had to try.

Ok….

Here’s the deets.

It’s amazing but it has downfalls.

First the good….

It’s ideal for oily skin types that’s number one however anyone else can easily make use of it as well since it dries down to a softer matte finish. You aren’t going to see it dry down to this super powdery layer on your skin, the dry down is more of a moist, dewy soft matte which is incredibly comfortable since it feels like your own skin, another words, super light weight. Now the shades all, also, lean towards being more natural in finish as they are softer shades of color. It’s very difficult to describe in words or I’m just lacking in vocabulary here but the shades are all very soft and natural looking. Think of your perfect softer skin type and the shades will basically come to mind.

The formula is smooth and as silky as cashmere. Incredibly soft, easily absorbs into the skin, and doesn’t give you a “made up” look but more of an even finish that enhances your own natural skin tone and type. Bobbi suggests wearing during extreme heat and humidity as it’s supposed to have a transfer-resistant formula.

The overall finish and effect of the foundation perfects my face and makes it look its very best. What more could a girl want?

The Bad….

Sadly, it oxidizes on me way too quickly. I can’t get 8 hours out of it. If I’m lucky I’ll get 4. This is just how my skin reacts to foundation and I really have no way of preventing it. However, I will say even though it oxidizes quickly it still doesn’t turn my skill dull or grayish which has been known to happen with other foundations. It simply wears away and needs a touch up after around four hours of hanging on my face.

The consistency of the product is very creamy at first pump however I noticed after having it sitting around a bit that I must shake it to get it back to it’s original form as it tends to separate. If I forget to shake it, I end up with an oily separation of foundation and clear liquid.

Personally I love it for more of a natural finish however I don’t recommend it for anyone who needs heavier coverage as this is a light wearing foundation in my opinion.

Who Might Like It?

  • Anyone who wants a foundation that enhances their own skin tone without feeling heavy!
  • Anyone who wants a great foundation for the Summer!
  • Oily skin types (or any skin type really!)
  • Anyone who wants to even out their complexion versus concealing their entire face.
  • Anyone who wants clean, fresh, flawless skin!

Who Might Not Like It?

  • Anyone who needs medium to heavy coverage.

Final Thoughts…..

This is my first experience with Bobbi Brown Foundation and its been a great ride. I can easily see myself reaching for this daily during the Summer months or anytime I want lighter coverage. It has a gorgeous finish and perfects my face beautifully! I seriously think it’s well worth a trip to your local counter for a try out.

Lovely stuff! My shade is 4. I tried 4.5 as well but it wasn’t nearly as good a fit as 4 was.

Hi Muse! I’ve tried this product last year because it was supposed to be awesome for oily skin, as you pointed out. Problem is I still shine like crazy though (even after setting it with powder). You’re right about the oxidizing as well…dang I look like an Oompa Loompa after 3 hours. In Malaysia it’s kinda sucky because it’s really humid and hot : (. It might do wonders for those with normal/dry skin though because seriously it still makes me shine.

neither chell. It’s very subtle so def won’t cover acne scarring.
