E.L.F. Studio Minty Lip Gloss Review and Swatches
The Muse decided to press her luck a little bit with E.L.F.
I recently had some super success with their brushes and I’m kinda loving on the Studio Blushes at the moment. So, all this good luck must mean something right?
Since I’m crushing so hard on their concealer brush, I decided to order three more. I know weird, three concealer brushes. But, my mentality was that the price was right (less than $3 each after coupon but actually probably not due to obscene shipping costs) and at this cost I could have several brushes for my different concealers. One for cream, one for liquid, etc….
Anyway.
I decided to indulge in the E.L.F. Studio Minty Lip Gloss while I was stockpiling concealer brushes for my jedi master concealer techniques. They looked rather nice, sparkly, hypnotize, drool, want, you know the normal feelings were evoked upon seeing these glosses.
Good?
Jump it and find out.
What are they?
A sheer glossy color lip gloss with a fresh minty taste.
The Good…..
Looks good in the package…..really pretty…sparkles oooo….nice, minty fresh flavor, yum!
The Bad….
Mmm sorry E.L.F. but they are so worth the $3 price point (or lower). Seriously not a great lover of these.
First off not keen on the packaging. The actual tube that holds the gloss is quite nice as the gloss inside really sparkles through and creates a rather lovely effect however this is slightly ruined by the black plastic top which looks slightly cheesy, sorry but I’m a packaging junkie.
Even though the glosses look SO incredible in the package the formula is a pretty poor. They have a sponge tip applicator which isn’t fab for building up color however if you sit and pump while applying and reapplying you can get ok results however it’s the actual time that goes into sitting there and pumping up and down, applying, pumping, reapplying…etc…get me?
The formula is slightly weird as it tends to apply patchy and feels a tad weird on my lips. Not tacky or sticky but almost but not quite like L’Oreal Infallible Lip Gloss. It’s kinda difficult to explain but it sorta feels like a weird film across your lips somewhat silicone like but not quite. This strange feel is what keeps the product from applying as smoothly as most glosses as it feels slightly dry sans that glossy feel. It’s almost as if they poured the color in the tube but forgot to add the gloss….
If you’re on board with building color up you can get decent results as mentioned above but this normally means about six applications or more of the gloss. But even with that much in place it’ll still feel rather dry and uneventful on your lips sans shine.
I indulged in four shades as I was somewhat hopeful I’d have some crazy good luck that they would be good.
I got Boston (shimmering rosy pink), Miami (shimmering bubble gum pink), San Diego (shimmering coral), and New York City (shimmering red).
Who Might Like It?
- Anyone willing to work at building product up on their lips.
- Those who want to save a bit of cash and like the sound of a $3 buck lip gloss!
Who Might Not Like It?
- Anyone looking for high shine gloss.
- Anyone who doesn’t like mint or flavored glosses.
Final Thoughts….
I felt like the product was a tad bit misleading as the actual glosses in the package looks incredibly gorgeous however the formula itself was total rubbish in my opinion but I guess you can’t really expect much with this kind of price tag.
No likey.
Anyone try these?
