L’occitane Mme Louis Henry Peony Lipstick and L’occitane L’Aurore Peony Face Color Powder Review and Swatches
Hi chicks!
Sorry for the delay in between posts today! My server has been havin’ a bit of an issue with MySQL, not fun.
Anyway!
Back!
Miss me?
I’ve been reading mixed reviews on the L’occitane Makeup Collection but I happen to love it. Dunno what it is but I’m really feeling the love.
Jump!
Today I got two great bits to review for you! The L’occitane Mme Louis Henry Peony Lipstick and L’occitane L’Aurore Peony Face Color Powder.
w00t! Double your pleasure.
What is it?
L’occitane Mme Louis Henry Peony Lipstick is a golden shimmering shade of pinky coral lipstick where as L’Aurore Peony Face Color Powder is a multitasking powder for lids, cheeks, and face.
The Good….
L’occitane Mme Louis Henry Peony Lipstick is truly a fab little find. This guy is a cross shade of pinky coral with a golden shimmer. It’s a semi-sheer lipstick that has nice glide and moist feel on lips. It leaves behind a soft hydrated feel with a touch of coral pink shimmering color. Honestly, I normally wouldn’t pick such a shade simply because it leans towards being a tad too nude for my tastes however I must say the color turned into a really fresh shade on my lips and really complimented the face color I paired up with it. At $14 it’s a really cute little lipstick that’s worth picking up!
L’occitane L’Aurore Peony Face Color Powder is nice little multitasking powder that can be used on cheeks or lids (in my photo below I used on my lids and my cheeks!) . It’s a orange-y shade which might easily be passed up as the orange does appear bright. But truth be told the shade turns into more of a radiant peach on my lids and cheeks. I’m a rather big fan of the TV show Chuck. If you’re familiar with the show you probably noticed that Sarah tends to wear an orangey-peach shade of color on her lids about 90% of the time she’s on screen. I’ve ALWAYS wondered what the shade is as it’s subtle yet pigmented enough to know she has shadow on her lids. L’occitane L’Aurore Peony Face Color Powder kinda dupes up Sarah’s look quite well particularly when paired with brown liner. The formula blends easily and applies fairly well on any part of your face or eyes. It’s not super pigmented but it does have enough color payoff to create a really natural, pretty look.
The Bad….
L’occitane L’Aurore Peony Face Color Powder comes in a smaller pot which is fine when applying on lids but does kick up a fair bit of dust and mess when using a blush brush with the product, this irks me for some reason. All of the Peony makeup range contains peony extract so the products are scented. Personally I think this is rather whimsical however sensitive types may find it irritating.
Who Might Like These?
- Anyone who wants a refreshingly natural look but not one that looks makeup-less (This is fresh and natural but also is obvious you’re wearing a bit of lovely makeup).
- Anyone who loves cute packaging (the cardboard boxes are sturdy and sweet).
- Anyone who likes lighter, radiant shades of color.
- Anyone that wants to be magically whisked away to France!
Who Might Not Like These?
- Women who are sensitive to fragrance in their makeup.
- Anyone who seeks a dramatic look when using makeup.
- Anyone who wants intense color pay off.
Final Thoughts….
The biggest appeal of the products are not only the whimsical design but also the fact they impart such a beautiful, healthy, glowing look. Of course, it’s obvious you have makeup on but it’s lighter, fresher makeup that’s flattering, pretty, and very light (great for the warm weather).
After experimenting with these pieces and a gloss I reviewed for you a few days ago I must say the line continues to impress and delight me.
