MAC Pret a Papier Review, Swatches, Photos, and FOTD

Man, don’t shoot me, I’m so late on my MAC Pret a Papier Review. I’m kinda sad I’m so late getting this up because it had some SUPER must haves in my opinion but no worries much of it is still available online and on counters. Phew!

Let’s discuss?

What did you haul?

Pret a Papier, going by the promo images, was so incredibly snoring boring at first glance. I wasn’t even going to bother myself with the collection at all to be honest. But after seeing a few swatches I felt compelled to see what was up.

Thank GOD I did because I’d have missed out on some of better warmer shades of color that MAC has released in a long time.

Jump!

Let’s talk about MAC Coral Crepe Paint Pot.

Delish!

You have to get it.

It’s a warm shade of coral that you can probably totally get away with on your cheeks if you dare. I’m wearing it today and absolutely love it. On its own it’ll give eyes a subtle coral finish or paired up your favorite golds, peaches, and corals it’ll make a most excellent base.

Not one for nude lippies but Dressmaker is a beautiful nude peach that I thought made me look really fresh when paired up with warmer blush shades. Made to Order is a lovely shade coral peach for lips…yet another must have in my opinion.

The lipglasses weren’t too exciting but Fold and Tuck did stand out as it pairs up lovingly with Dressmaker to create a really outstanding nude lip look!

I only got one shadow which is Cut to Fit. It stood out as the boldest and will probably be very flattering on my brown eyes (haven’t tried yet). It’s a brown, coppery penny shade.

And finally another item that stands out and looks quite boring but turns into something quite delightful would be Instant Chic blush. The shade looks terribly pale and washed up but applies like a pure dream.

I think all the shades should be really flattering on creamier skin tones and are ideal for softer looks. I absolutely LOVED this collection and I urge you to check it out if you passed it up like me at first believing it to be a bit boring.

Lovely stuff!

      • Wendy

I haven’t tried it yet lol, just got it last night and was feeling blue and purple today. I will see, I’m about to splurge on To the Beach tonight so I don’t know if I can justify more money spending XD

I totally love Coral Crepe PP but it makes me look like I got punched in the eye or I have some wicked irritation.. I wish I was a chameleon so I could work with all colors =(

    • the Muse

aww ashley. I hear ya, mix it up with a bit of gold doll! that should tame it 🙂

  • Jenny

I wasnt interested in the collection at all either, but EVERYONE said to get it. Just picked it up from Nordstrom. It looks like it’ll make me look like i have pink eye… errrr. I also picked up hipness blush from to the beach (marine life highlight is all sold out in oregon!!!) and dirty grease paintstick

Great haul! I think that paint pot looks great – the color will be so pretty 😀 The darker lipglass looks so pretty – very unique color.

    • the Muse

aw shucks mi nicest comment I got all day 😀 exactly the look I wanted!

  • aquahartz

I love this look on u! I might go check these out at our local dept store.
    thanks for the review.

  • Miss_M

I see we liked the same things from this collection Muse! 🙂

I also wasn’t impressed when I say the promo pictures of PAP, but I really liked all the products ones I checked them out at the counter! They were all really nice wearable nudes/soft corals that can be worn at all time. I ended up buying Dressmaker, Dressmaker lipstick, Instant Chic blush, Coral Crepe paintpot (which I will probably wear as a cream blush), Fold & Tuck lipglass and Tissueweight e/s. Especially the blush and lipglass were love at first site!

The MUA at my counter told me that this collection sold WAY better than Give me Liberty of London. I guess everyone likes a good wearable nude 🙂

Would the shades work equally well on a cooler toned complexion? My skin is pale with lots of pink in it and I have been avoiding the collection ever since I saw the promo pics. Thoughts?

    • the Muse

mmmm erin with lots of pink undertones you might wanna avoid as it doesn’t work so well as very cool with pink undertones imho. but maybe head to mac to see what works?

    • Miss_M

I’m pretty fair (NW15) with pink/red undertones and I think that the shades work very well on a cooler toned complexion. The corals all have a soft pink/peach undertone, instead of a red/orange undertone, so the shades are easy to work with and look really nice on fairer cool toned skin. As long as you avoid red/orangeorange undertones when you wear corals, you’ll be alright 🙂

You know, I am SO grateful you did a review on this collection! When I was at MAC hauling some of the To the Beach goodies (!) I saw this stand right next to the check-out.. I didn’t explore further because my poor paycheck couldn’t take anymore hits lol, but it looks gorgeous!! Next week… haha =)

  • Ryan

My God, those lipsticks are pretty. Really like dressmaker. Too bad I’m a man and I can’t wear them. 🙁

  • lulubell

The Coral Crepe Paint Pot looks so GORGEOUS. I may have to check that one out.

  • Nia

I got Instant Chic and love it! It is my it’s early in the morning and I should have left 5min ago blush. Even on me I do not need to be overly careful applying it.
From the eyeshadows I got Gazette Grey (I love greys) and Tissueweight (great colour and non-frosty frost).
The paint pot was too warm for me and the lipglasses as well. Dressmaker, Dressmaker a nice peachy nude on me.
All over a great collection, neutrals with a twist.

    Did I mention I love corals 😀

Hope you had a great long weekend 🙂

    • the Muse

nia I think that’s the best part about instant chic! that you can never over do it 😀 I love corals too, my favvvvvvvvvvv!
