Napoleon Perdis Auto Pilot Pre-Foundation Primer Review
Well…I’ve always been very up front about my deep dislike of silicone based primers. Yak! Some are ok (that’s a kind compliment from me) but most are just terribly uncomfortable to me.
Which is why I seek out a more moisturizing primer when I can. I have dry skin with extremely small, non existent pores so really for me a makeup prep that’s moisturizing is one of the key things I look for as my dry skin can use all the help it can get.

What is it?
Napoleon Perdis Auto Pilot Pre-Foundation Primer is a pre-makeup base formulated with chamomile, vitamin E, and yarrow extract to deliver instant hydration to skin while prepping and priming it for makeup.
The Good….
First things, first. You will not like this if you’re wanting a primer to conceal fine lines and larger pores. That’s simply not what this primer was developed for.
Ok, now that that’s out of the way on to the good….
The formula is a lightweight creamy gel-like formula with fresh scent. It smells quite like Jergens moisturizer to me or perhaps hand cream on some level, quite nice really and fresh. If you’re anything like me you may need some extra moisturizer even after applying your normal facial cream in the AM this is where this falls right in. The formula absorbs easily and leaves skin dewy to the touch erasing signs of dryness as it preps your face for makeup. Even after using my normal lotions and potions, my face always feels like it needs proper prepping with a moisturizing primer and this does the trick perfect. It sets the scene for my foundation or in my case BB Cream while easing signs of dryness and dull skin. I like how light weight it is and how easily it absorbs without leaving behind a greasy, oily feel. It gives my foundation and powder more of a natural, barely there look which is exactly what I look for in a primer as my dry skin can easily make makeup look overly done if it settles on my face in a cakey way.
The Bad….
Sadly, it doesn’t make my foundation last any longer than the normal time and I do need to touch up as the day progresses but I honestly have run into many products that do keep my base from oxidizing so this isn’t really isn’t any fault of the product, simply how my skin works I guess. I enjoy the scent however those sensitive to smell beware as it does give off quite a heavy smell.
Who might like it?
- Women with dry skin.
- Women with smaller pores and no fine lines and/or wrinkles
- Anyone seeking a primer that hydrates as well as allowing makeup to apply easier.
- Anyone who hates silicone primers!
Who might not like it?
- Anyone looking to fill large pores, fine lines, or wrinkles.
- Anyone sensitive to fragrance.
Final Thoughts….
Overall, Napoleon Perdis Auto Pilot Pre-Foundation Primer pretty much covered all the things I look for in a primer. It worked quite well although the price of $39 did make me wince slightly and I’d have loved if it prevented my foundation from oxidizing so quickly. Aside from this it’s a great pick for dry skin chicklets with smaller pores or anyone who isn’t really in lust with silicone primers.
