Sephora Buildable Cover Concealer Review and Swatches
Morning chicklets!
How was your weekend? Everyone get some R&R in? It was so gorgeous this weekend around these parts. Felt like Summer! However, totally blew when I woke up this morning to pouring rain but hey gotta be thankful for small favors that the weekend held up nicely.
Sorry but no Doctor Who coverage today as I just got a sec to see the episode this morning. Feel free to shout it out at me on Twitter though or feel free to babble it right here. Not sure I love the new Daleks as they look kinda i-Podish but not TOO bad an episode overall. w00t Daleks in tons of fruity flavors and shades! I must admit, for once, I was routing for the Daleks. It’s always nice when the bad guys win every once and a while, keeps things fresh right?
So long weekend means seriously scary dark circles under these eyes!
I reached for a little Sephora Buildable Cover Concealer today to see how bright eyed and bushy tailed it could make me look.

What is it?
Sephora Buildable Cover Concealer promises to hide EVERYTHING. Whoa nelly big promises, I love those! I’m talking blemishes, dark circles, and according to Sephora even tattoos…! This cream-to-powder formula will conceal your woes with buildable coverage that will never cake or feel heavy…..but does it really?
The Good……….
I actually love the idea of a buildable concealer since some days my eyes are looking a bit rougher than others. For example I always go to bed early on Monday nights because I feel like it’s a good start to the week. Come Tuesday morning my eyes aren’t in need of as much coverage as they did on Saturday morning after a late Friday night. See my point? Having a concealer that adjusts to my needs is rather perfect as I can go light or heavier depending on what needs concealing.
First off, avoid it if you’re eyes are dried. Chances are if you have dry eyes this will age you, settle into fine lines, and just generally look dry and cakey. Not a good look. I happen to have quite dry eyes but thankfully with proper prepping this wasn’t TOO bad. It glides on seamlessly and conceals well enough leaving behind a fresh, flawless look. It has a bit of a harder texture than I’m used too and isn’t particularly creamy but it still manages to blend decently. I didn’t really feel like it was cream to powder which is a good think as I think if it had a matte powder-y dry down it would make me look positively ancient as powder under my eyes is a no go.
The Bad…
It is buildable that much is true but be aware if you are building to hide heavier, darker circles, chances are you could go over board and end up with it settling into fine lines, caking up, and just looking all in all bad. It’s also not the best solution for those with drier eyes.
Final Thoughts…..
It’s $16 bucks which isn’t really cheap for a concealer considering you could tack a few dollars onto that price tag and go high end. The concealer performs well enough but not so well it’s worth indulging in at that price as I can picture myself spending $18-$25 and getting something that does the trick way better.
It’s ok but nothing to brag about and not something I’d indulge in again nor recommend purchasing for yourself.
