Do Not Want: Paul and Joe Kitty Lipstick

I sadly don’t think I qualify as a cat person. Heck if I were one, I’d probably be ever so delighted over the new Paul and Joe Kitty Lipsticks right?

Wrong.

Do not WANT!

Now I like Paul and Joe and I happen to have a cat but I’m not INTO my cat the way some cat people are so I don’t really qualify as cat person material. Like, I suspect, my friend Rows, sleeps with the cats, makes sweet love to the cats, enjoys the cats company on rainy days, has philosophical and political conversations with the cats….etc….she’s obviously a cat person.

I gotta say the new Paul and Joe Kitty Lipsticks launching for Fall 2010 are deeply disturbing. As I said maybe I have to be a cat person to get it but lord knows these things scare me. Imagine swiveling up your lipstick to reveal…a cat head?

If you don’t find it disturbing at the very least you’ll have to agree that using the lipstick must be a tad difficult, poking your lips with cat ear and all….

Either way, DO NOT WANT Paul and Joe Kitty Lipstick.

Cute maybe, to me very creepy.

I’m a cat person and will buy anything with a cat printed on it, but this one is definitely weird. I wouldn’t want to use this for fear of mashing the kitty’s head!

  • Comrade_Garlic

I consider myself a crazy cat lady and those creep me out.

    • the Muse

lol amen comrade! I like cats but def not crazy cat lady 😀 I mean some people weird me out with the cat obsession a little bit lol!

  • womble

I own 3 cats, and i loooooove anything with cats on… EXCEPT THIS! if it was cute pics of cats on the case HELL YEAH! but cat head as the bullet? which then becomes a disfigured cat over time… erm no i think i’ll pass! i think its rather disturbing. Very disturbing actually. And they are some UGLY cats too LOL

  • Kristina

Creepy cat head lipstick indeed! Was the “Ahhh!” you running away with your hands in the air screaming? That’s the image I had in my head anyway. Thanks for the laugh! 🙂

    • the Muse

lol basically Kristina and looking back with large terrified eyes as I ran!

  • kelly

I really like cats. But when you use this, the cats head gets worn away. Not for me. Then again, I didn’t like breaking the ears off of a chocolate Easter Bunny, so I might be odd.

    • the Muse

lol kelly 😀 I don’t like eating chocolate easter bunnies at all totally freaks me out!

  • KAT

HAHA. weird how ironic my name is.. since I am sooo not a cat person.
err… this lipstick is just plain wrong.

  • gio

I find these kinda cute actually but I would never have the heart to use them. I wouldn’t wanna ruin the poor kitty’s head.

  • aretha

ewwww. im a cat lover but this is too much! its horrid! its disgusting! what were they thinking?? =/

  • Courtney

I apologize ahead of time if this is a totally inappropriate comment (and if so feel free to censor me) but these lipsticks totally remind me of certain adult novelty items that they also tend to put faces on which are totally creepy. When I first saw the picture of these lipsticks I couldn’t help but burst out laughing.

  • puranki

definately a yay for me. so wierd it’s turning into a must have

  • Lenna

I am a super cat person. However, I would not buy these lipsticks because I would not want to use them and mess up the little cat heads on it. Because this is cute and horrible at the same time…why not just make normal shaped lipstick with a little molded cat head on the lipstick case? Why is that so hard?

  • Audrey D

Ok wow! how would apply the lipstick and make it go on evenly? maybe if they put an imprint of a cat on the lipstick, like how urban decay puts the imprint of the dagger, it would look more appealing. this is just freaky weird!

  • Margaret

I’m weighing in as a person who loves cats but doesn’t want these because the kitty head/face is too creepy looking. PLUS, what if it were cute? Then I’d never want to use it, and what fun is that?

  • Heather

It just seems as if it wouldn’t be easy to use. Plus yeah creepy. Pretty sure the first couple times you used it it would destroy the cat design.

  • Kate

Aside from the creepiness factor–those lipsticks look like they would hurt when you put it on!

  • Millie

Really? you wouldn’t want that? hahah i am dying for its release just cuz it’s such a unique lipstick. i guess P&J is running out of ideas to create something like this hehe

  • Emilie

I think they’re cute as a novelty and to look at but I don’t see how anyone could actually use them. That pink shade is cute though.

Btw, Idk if you’ve ever tried RMK but it’s now being sold at Asos like Paul & Joe. 🙂

    • the Muse

yes I know emillie 😀 RMK is a fav of mine so quite excited to have it on ASOS!

  • KristyQ

OH, MUSE! hahaha….these are definitely creepy, but I just gotta have one 😉 I’ll never use it, but hey – it’s going into the “don’t touch, just look” collection.

  • Michilicious ~ Potatisbruden

The idea is really cool but I just don’t like the feeling of mashing and applying a cat head on my lips :S O__o’

  • Tango

LOL! That’s insane! It totally reminds me of the guy who carves tiny, intricate sculptures out of lipstick though– you should check him out!

…Is it wrong of me to want one just because it’s so crazy? 😀

  • JayJay

I am a cat person. This is just wrong, I’m really weirded out by this.

When I was a kid, eating chocolate bunnies bothered me..

  • Ana

I’m with Puranki! They’re so weird I want one just for the sake of owning it. :p

  • Bora

There’s a difference between gorgeous, fluffy, cute real cats and scary creepy Paul & Joe lipstick cats. These remind me of the Cheshire Cat from Alice in the Wonderland and he’s pretty creepy too.

  • T

Definitely a novel item. I’d use the little bitty cat ears to line my lips like a lip liner and use the face to apply the lipstick. O_o

  • Stephanie

I am a sucker for novelty items, so I would definitely get one!

  • Robin

From a distance it looks like someone took a bite out of ’em!
And if you can get past the “ewww factor”, you’d have a hard time getting your l/s on straight. 😉

  • dark nyx

    LoL
Aww, Muse! I agree, this isn’t very practical. It was probably meant as a collector’s item. Aside from being hard to apply, the cat’s head would be a weird smoosh after a while. =[

  • Rozelyn

    I’d think you would have a difficult time applying this… o___o;
    Nonetheless, it’s still creepy. D:

  • Ceriene

I love Paul & Joe’s cosmetics, but this is rather terrifying, Muse!

  • Lexi

How intresting, I love mine! The little ears make a very handy lip liner! But I agree, the day I mashed my little kitties head I almost starting crying haha

  • kimeeissocoollike

I saw these in a magazine, over the summer. The editors said the ears are there for use as a lip liner.

    Cool idea, creepy design.

  • Tigress

LMAO! Holy crap, this is fantastically awful. I am a crazy cat lady, cats are my life (first word was “kitty”, have done cat rescue my whole life) and I don’t even like these. So, so wrong….

  • JL

Sorry, due to your updated article saying they’re coming out again, I read this and I guess I’m a creepy, bunny-ears-eating, cat person. So if the latest version of this is a quality lipstick, and not too expensive, I’d try it. Though I’m not into just getting them because of cats (like I did the Star Trek MAC line and was oh so disappointed…though I shouldn’t have been because early reviews were virtually all negative, but then I’m such the fan I purchased just a few pieces anyway). So could any one share it they’re worth it quality/price wise?
