Hard Candy 1,000 Lashes Primer Review

Everyone on the look out for Hard Candy Spring/Summer 2010 should have located it by now. It’s at your local evil empire ahem Walmart. I had to head to two as it was picked over in a major way at the first shop. You know me I HATE Walmart but I was on a mission to get a few pieces for a friend to try so I actually headed to two different Wally World’s to see what the good word was.

So yes…it’s in store.

Anyone locate it?

What sort of hauling have you done from it?

Hard Candy 1,000 Lashes Fiberized Lash Weave Primer was a completely spontaneous purchase for me…

A fiber primer for use prior to mascara that’ll set you back a mere $6!

If nothing else Hard Candy 1,000 Lashes is interesting and cheap. It’s basically a packed fiber primer that you use prior to mascara to create fuller, fatter lashes. If you like fiber mascara, you’re bound to love this. It’s packed full of fibers so it kinda looks like a mascara wand full of lashes…does that sound terribly gross? Shrug, it’s true.

It sports a simple brush applicator. The formula is made up of both fibers and a conditioning whitish gel (no worries it won’t turn lashes white!). It does add a fair bit of length when used in conjunction with your mascara plus with patience during application you’ll notice lashes look fuller.

I personally hate mascara or primer with fiber since it feels like I have an eyelash in my eye. Since this is loaded down with fibers I feel the need to rub my eyes, ugh, worst feeling!

Application is a little tricky as for some reason it’s difficult to get the fibers onto your lashes. It takes a fair bit of brushing and building up to get a good amount of product on your lashes.

  • Anyone who wants a cheap primer to boast their current mascara!
  • Anyone who likes fiber mascaras or primers.
  • Anyone who has a mascara that isn’t doing the job of lengthening or making lashes look fuller (combine that crummy mascara with this and chances are you’ll see decent results).

  • Anyone who wears contacts (fibers could prove irritating).
  • Anyone not keen on feeling like they have something in their eye.

It’s not the best mascara primer by any means but it is cheap and does a half way decent job of getting lashes to look fuller. I think it makes a fine companion to mascaras you may have tossed on the side that aren’t working for you as this has the potential to breath new life into what you probably dubbed as garbage.

Not really fantastic but not bad either.

It’s six bucks so it can’t hurt to try it!

Anyone try?

I won’t try this… I got the UD lash primer when it came out and I have that same weird feeling when I use it. Feels like there’s something weird in/around my eye. That being said, the UD one does what it’s supposed to do and my lashes look way fuller when I use it…

As for Hard Candy, I did go get the Moon Glow powder the other day. It looks pretty cute, although I haven’t had the chance to actually use it yet. It looks a bit like my Estee Lauder shimmery gold powder from Holiday 08 after the gold spray was used…

that’s why I hate fiber mascaras in general jonnie that weird something is in my eye feeling. yay so glad you’re enjoying it and yes totally reminds me of the EL gold powder but much nicer!

We still haven’t got it at our Wally World! Our store went through this whole renovation thing, and now I really hate the makeup section. It is literally where the grills are, and on the other side of the last aisle is charcoal…I miss looking at all the pretty Hard Candy stuff 🙁 It was really popular when they had it. I don’t see why they’d take it away.

I really love this primer! It makes my lashes much thicker and helps them to hold the curl all day! It’s awesome! Definitely a must have for me.

The review is quite nice. I haven’t use a mascara primer before. But I will try this.

I wanted to try the fiber mascara from Rimmel (can’t remember the name) but the idea of little bits hanging near my eyes grosses me out! I also wear contacts so that concerns me.
Odd that it doesn’t leave a white tint… it looks like the consistency of a few other primers I tried that have. Guess I’m sticking with the primer on the end of the Maybelline XXL Extensions mascara 🙂

naa wendy once you apply mascara you won’t see the white it pretty much applies clear. 😀

I’m a fan of Cliniques lash primer. It really doesn’t have a fiberish feel to it, and it makes my lashes so long they look fake. On a side note, when did Hard Candy go to Walmart? I remember waaay back in the day when they had a counter at Nordstrom……..

    • the Muse

hi sarah hard candy’s been at walmart since earlier last year 🙂

  • Marilyn @ Lipgloss and Spandex

I tried this and really like it. I wear contacts and haven’t had a problem, but everyone’s eyes are different.

    • the Muse

hey Marilyn! glad you’re enjoying this one hun, I didn’t love it tbh 🙁

Sadly I won’t be buying this ever again. I tried Lancome’s lash primer a couple years ago and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately I’m a poor college student and can’t always afford to spend that much money on makeup. I was also in Walmart when I found the Hard Candy primer and figured $6 would be worth a try. Sigh.. the only thing this product did was made me realize that I HAVE to go back and buy the Lancome one.

PROS- it feels lightweight and doesn’t completely damage your lashes.
CONS – it takes multiple coats for the fibers to stick on and the outcome wasn’t any greater than what two coats of mascara alone would do.

That’s just my experience tho! 🙂

    • Connie

I agree completely! I love Lancome’s primer but ran out and couldn’t afford to buy a new one. I had even added water to the old one making it last 3 months longer (DO NOT TRY THIS…you could give yourself an eye infection!) I was So excited when I found the Hard Candy 1,000 Lashes Fiberized Lash Weave Primer so cheap at Walmart, but within 7 uses the fibers had found their way under my contact and I had a horrible scratch. After it healed, a few days with glasses and optical antibiotic drops, I put my contacts back in after cleaning. Big Mistake! The fibers were apparently stuck in my contacts and scratched my eyeballs again. Please don’t go cheap when it comes to your eyesight as left untreated by a medical professional, you could go blind. I might be a bargain shopper, but draw the line with my sight. I’ll be saving up for the Lancome again and as always will wait until the Free Gift time comes around to make me feel like I got an even better deal than just a quality product.

I always used to get Hard Candy at the Hot Topics store. The liquid liner was good
