Lola Lipgloss Review and Swatches

Do you ever feel like full color glosses tend to NOT act as a gloss? I can’t be the only one that thinks this. I mean if I purchase a gloss I’m looking for a shiny, glossy finish right? But sometimes when the gloss is extra pigmented chances are you don’t get that sort of finish…right?

Maybe it’s me but I seem to have the uncanny ability to pick full color glosses with absolutely ZERO shine.

Lola Lip Gloss is amazingly pigmented but forget a glossy finish….not happening.

A lipgloss infused with luscious pigmented color!

Props to Lola on creating another beautifully packaged cosmetic. The Lola Lipgloss I recently hauled from Beauty Ticket is packaged beautifully with a rounded bottle and a black twist cap with the cute heart Lola script emblem. No one can can say that Lola packaging isn’t done right.

The gloss should appeal to cream lipstick lovers. It’s runs thinner than many cream lipsticks but still manages to have that semi-matte feel of one and is pigmented enough to act as one. It smooths on beautifully well leaving behind quite a nice pop of color. I got the color Arm Candy which is a sweetheart shade of rose.

Hate the formula sadly because as I mentioned in my prelude to this review, it’s not bloody GLOSSY! When I buy a gloss I want it to have a glossy finish, is that much to ask?

Although pigmented this doesn’t have much in the way of shine and the formula is slightly dry on my lips and not really comfortable to wear, as in you know you have something on your lips kinda feeling!

The flavor is rancid. I love flavored gloss but this tastes like cherry cough syrupy or perhaps cherry cough drops. Not nice. It also smells like it so as soon as you twist out the applicator the smell hits you smack in the face!

  • Anyone who likes a semi-matte gloss with a tiny bit of shine!
  • Anyone who likes a gloss that acts as a lip cream!
  • Anyone who enjoys sweet packaging!

  • Anyone wanting super shiny lips!
  • Anyone who doesn’t like flavored or scented lip products!

These retail for $16 but I got it on sale for a mere $6.99, thank GOD because I’d be really crazy loco ranting if I paid full price for it. The formula isn’t bad but it isn’t good either as I expect a shiny gloss not merely a pigmented one. Total pet peeve of mine to get a gloss that has a drier formula which wears uncomfortably on my lips. I was thinking of indulging in other shades if I loved the formula but this single shade proved that I can easily stay clear of the rest even at the cheap price tag. With a little clear gloss on top it’s redeemable but that would defeat the purpose of buying a gloss now wouldn’t it?

Disappointed.

Anyone try Lola Lipglosses?

Back when I worked at ULTA we carried the line and I don’t remember the glosses smelling badly. Maybe this one has gone off?

hi jeweled thumb. I don’t think it would smell like cherry if it had gone off hehe. I’m not keen on the cherry cough syrupy scent that it has going on but I don’t think it’s b/c the product is off, I think that’s the way it’s supposed to smell? but who knows 🙂 maybe I’m crazy
