Lorac Little Black Palette Review and Swatches

Ahhh Lorac I think sometimes you get overlooked but I always look forward to your releases particularly your Summer Collection 2010 which is wow’ing me (but than again just about ever makeup release wows me…!).

Have you check out the Lorac Little Black Palette? Just like everyone needs a little black dress, everyone should have a Little Black Palette.

I think you’ll love it!

A stylish palette that contains 4 baked eyeshadows in shimmering shades of golds and bronzes packaged up with the new Lorac Behind the Scenes Eye Shadow Primer.

This is probably one of my favorite palettes this season because truly it’s gorgeous and you get a fair bit of delicious bang for your buck.

The palette contains four generously sized baked eyeshadows in a soft gold beige, a copper penny, a rich bronze, and a chocolate brown.

You can use the shadows wet or dry depending on the look you’re going for. Wet will give a more dramatic, intense look to the shadows and dry will give a more frosty, shimmering finish. The shades can be combined or used separately to create various looks. Honestly, if you’re super talented you can create one incredible look using all four shades but if you’re just feeling your way through you can simply use one or two shades, there are no rules here. Some folks are naturally wary of baked shadows and fear they have little to no pigmentation but no worries these have fantastic color pay off and have a smooth, buttery texture which allows them to apply easily sans tugging or pigment woe. I find the shades are very warm and Summery but you’ll easily use them in the Fall for some great looks as well.

Although I’ve heard that some feel the package is bulky, I felt the same for an entire minute, I think it’s rather elegant. It’s black design with a flip top lid and full size mirror with gold lame decorating the inside and the shadows resting on a bed of gold with the primer having its own little nest. The shadows don’t kick up a ton of dust so they nestle safely in the box without creating a mess.

I hated that the shadows lean towards being more frosty than shimmery. Frost is highly unflattering on me and these kinda have a frosty finish but when blended out correctly or used wet you can eliminate the problem!

  • Anyone looking for a super gorgeous palette for Summer.
  • Anyone who favors warm shades for eyes in the Summer or any other time of the year.
  • Olive skin or darker complexions will adore these shades!

  • Anyone who travels alot with makeup (this isn’t too friendly for travel as the shadows might break when jostled about).
  • Anyone who doesn’t wear warmer shades well!

Although the shades are done and redone with many brands for the Summer, I felt like Lorac nailed it best. The colors are all really stunning and offer a warmth that can be captured in a single shadow on the lid or cocktailing colors. The Lorac Behind the Scenes Eye Primer is a nice little extra and will find a well deserved home with those who adore Too Faced Shadow Insurance (it’s creamier and keeps shadows wearing strong and long all day). At $32, I think Lorac Little Black Palette is a rather great deal and has a nice offering of color for the sizzling Summer ahead.

Muse Approved for purchase.

I got this for Mother’s Day. IDK about you but I like the consistency of the primer. Yet I haven’t even swatched it yet.

It looks marvelous, though. Thanks for sharing.

lol dwana too nice to swatch? 😀 the formula of the primer is gorgeous, creamier than both too faced and UDPP. I liked it alot but I can never trade in my UDPP 😀

      my pleasure!

LOL I actually don’t know why I hadn’t swatched it. I had planned on it but never got around to it. I might give it a try sometime this week. After seeing your palette at work, why not give it a whirl or two?

Their primer is (super light) a lot less dense which makes it a little easier to absorb/ blend. As far as staying power…surprisingly it’s not at all bad. So far I haven’t dealt with it thickening/ drying in the tube like other primers.

The only reason I didn’t get this was because the shades looked exactly like the ones in my LORAC Snakecharmer palette. This looks great though! I am a huge fan of LORAC and feel like they’re not known enough. They’re one of my favorites for eyeshadows, I love their gloses, and their blushes are nice too. A great brand as a whole.

aw kali I don’t have the snakecharmer so I’m good 😀 Agreed! they don’t get near enough attention 😀

I bought this a few weeks ago and LOVE LOVE IT!!! Have you used their baked blushes yet, they are so pretty.
