MAC In The Groove Review, Swatches, and Photos

Get groovy with the new MAC In the Groove Collection launching this week (July 8th) from MAC.

Check it!

Some of you are going to be incredibly chuffed proper over the new MAC Mineralize Eye Shadows. I think the main rant about MAC Mineralize Shadows is the fact that they are so incredibly shimmery and have such a ton of fall out. The MAC In the Groove Mineralize Shadows leave behind fall out woe, shimmer, and sparkle, replacing it with a smooth satiny, almost semi-matte formula with softer color pay off and a smooth formula. The shades I tried had no fall out, no hardcore shimmer, and were all very “grown up”, work friendly shades. The shadows are made up on three shades, the middle of which can be used as a liner as it’s the most pigmented of the three. There are a total of nine combinations releasing and I got the chance to try out three.

Togetherness is made up of lavender, pearl purple, and satin grey. Style Influencer is satin silver, pearly deep blue (ideal dupe for Bobbi Brown Denim Rinse Eyeshadow), and Mauve Brown. And my favorite of the three, In the Groove which is a satin green, pearl burgundy, and Satin coral.

I haven’t attempted a look yet but I will say I’ll be properly challenged when using these as the shades all work well together but my technique and lack of creativity will make for some serious issues during application.

Also available, as you may know from my squealing, is the re-release of Stereo Rose, Sadly, I didn’t get one to try out but I did get By Candlelight (repromote) and Comfort Mineralize Skinfinish. There are four MSF releasing with this collection so if you’re a fond fan you may be able to skip as these are all repromotes however if you’re new to MAC, now’s your chance to experience the joys of Mineralize Skinfinish. Comfort is a golden bronze and By Candlelight is a Soft Golden Pink.

More Mineralize Blush Duos on the way…..one I got to test out was Happy Together a combo of caramel and pearly beige. This is a nice nude shade however I’m not too much of a fan of the Mineralize Blushes as they come across to frosty for me.

And finally several MAC Cremesheen Glasses are releasing one of which is On The Scene, a milky coral beige that’s pretty transparent on lips.

If you’re a big fan of MAC Mineralize products, In the Groove is the traditional “baked”, “mineral” release for MAC that includes a large range of products for face, lips, and cheeks. I think the re-introduction of some older shades of MAC MSF such as Petticoat and Stereo Rose should be very exciting for many people, myself included. I’m pretty impressed with the smoother formula of the new shadows. Overall, MAC In The Groove should have a few products to love on.

I’m looking forward to seeing the full release this week at my MAC counter as I NEED Stereo Rose.

How about you?

  • Mira

Hi! Sorry if it sounds like a dumb question but what is MAC MSF exactly? I’ve been reading that people have been lemming about it especially the repromote MSF in Stereo Rose. How does the product work? Thanks!

    • the Muse

hi mira not dumb at all 😀 Some folks use ’em as a blush, some use them to contour and highlight, some use them over blush to beef up their color, some use them as bronzers…they are multitasking 🙂

  • Sabrina

LOVE LOVE LOVE this post. Thank you so much for putting this out and getting me even more excited to spend lots o’ money with MAC!

  • Nia

  • Ashley Nicole

I love that you put this up! I cannot wait to get my hands on this collection! I love mineral shadows for their shimmer so I hope they have some- the little to no fall out is a plus plus!
    thanks for the post!

    • the Muse

my pleasure ashley. formulas don’t have a ton of shimmer in them, very subdued by mac mineral shadow standards 😀

  • Sarah

Yeah I missed it first time round,I was so mad! but il definately go pick it up this time. Im now searching for the perfect bronzer *sigh* im an NC15 and ive tried them all,I end up looking like I need to take a bath. Im thinking of trying bobbi browns,we dont have one here so im not sure on what shade,I guess il justhave to order and see! MAC seem to excell on most things, just sadly not bronzer and mascara! x

    • the Muse

sarah agreed on mac with bronzer and mascara. you’re pretty fair, perhaps BB will have one that looks good. BB has nice dusky rose ones that look incredible on 🙂

  • Sarah

Yeah honestly they are the worst mascaras i have tried! Yeah i am so pale youre right, here in england we dont get alot of sun sadly:( but im sick of looking so pale,i just wanna look healthy not just tan. I have heard good things about the bobbi brown bronzer, atlhough it seems you either love or hate their products, well from what ive seen on MUA. If im looking into buying something I often check on here to see if you approved it! lol if the bobbi brown thing doesnt work im gonna try estee lauder bronze godess X

    • the Muse

ditto sarah ugh! aw I heart England with a passion! it’s true about BB, peeps either really adore it or hate it. I started off as a hater and than became biggest fan girl 😀 aw shucks proper flattered thanks! Bronze Goddess is nice as well but be careful applies tad orange-y on fairer skin!

  • plue

oh darling, finally i will get my hands on stereo rose, it’s so pretty! along with petticoat too! i always miss out on that 😛

i’m eyeing on new vibe and band of roses, and maybe happy together n hang loose too, but hang loose is such a light colour, it looks like it won’t show up on me 🙁

and you know what, in the groove will be launched in msia the same time as you guys! incredible!!! we never had that!

    • the Muse

little sis you’re going to be so pleased with both 😀 yayyyy so glad you’re getting it the same time!

  • MacAttack

Any reviews on the cremesheen lipsticks? I’m dying for the purple one and two pink ones. I need to see swatches & hear reviews for those items.

  • dokibaesil

Happy Together looks SOOO nice! Would you recommend that as a hightlight for a dark skin gal that has warm undertones? 🙂

    • the Muse

mmm doki I’m awful at matching shades to skin tones and such 😀 maybe?! not sure…!? hehe!

  • Miss_M

This collection got on counter this past saturday (07.12) over here and I didn’t get one single thing that was on my wishlist. I wanted to get Stereo Rose, Petticoat and Jazzed, but those items were sold out by 10.30h at ALL Dutch counters. Unbelievable, since it was one of the hottest days of the year.

Oh well, I finally have some $$$ to spend at Bobbi Brown 🙂
