The Skinfood Avocado Rich Eye Balm Review
When I turned 30 I noticed fine lines beginning to form under my eyes and proceeded to freak the F out. I’ve always said to myself growing old and aging was no big deal but honestly when you start experiencing it for yourself, I promise, you will run around googling fine lines, hitting up your local skincare counter, and begging the skincare gods to please send a miracle.
After spending a gazillion dollars on lotions and potions, I finally figured out that my fine lines under my eyes were caused by dryness and that I could easily diminish them by keeping them as hydrated as possible.
That’s when I spent a few dollars on a large jar of Skinfood Avocado Rich Eye Balm and lived happily ever after it.
Jump!
The Skinfood Avocado Rich Eye Balm is a rich eye balm made up of shea butter and avocado oil to provide intense hydration to the eye area.
This comes in a rather cute jar and is quite large. It features an engraved top with the Skinfood emblem on top and a simple clear jar. It’s not glass or heavy by any means but it still looks very elegant and chic.
As per its name “rich eye balm”, the formula and texture are exactly that. If you’ve tried balms before (like body balms) you know how heavy, rich, and thick they are, this formula is pretty much the same as a body balm. I wouldn’t call it creamy really but more of a thicker texture which turns into a cream as you pat it into place and it warms up.
It has a very subtle herbal green/avocado like scent which I find very pleasant. After using it religiously for months now my fine lines are less prominent and my under eye area is hydrated and smooth. My concealer applies smoother without creasing into fine lines, my eyes look less tired, and my fine lines aren’t as easily seen as when my skin is drier.
I don’t recommend application during the day but you can pile it on nicely in the evening and sleep on it. In the AM you’ll be delighted how much better your eyes will look. The best part about the balm is the fact that you can use as much as you like without causing woes such as milia, a hooded look or tired look, or swelling. If you use richer eye creams with a ton of ingredients you may notice some or all of these symptoms. This balm will hydrate without any of these problems.
The only bad thing about the balm is it will not treat fine lines, wrinkles, or other aging woe. It exclusively treats dryness but no other symptoms associated with aging so don’t expect miracles other than intense hydration.
- Anyone with super dry under eyes!
- Anyone experiencing fine lines due to dryness.
- Anyone wanting an eye cream that treats aging, fine lines, and/or wrinkles.
- Anyone who hates dipping their fingers into skincare (this is bothersome to me as well but I like the product so much that I choose to ignore this).
The balm set me back a few dollars ($7 or $8) and was one of the best skincare investments I’ve made since it really hydrates better than anything else I’ve tried in the realms of eye care. I’ve tried alot of different options and many pricey options but this works better than any of the rest. Yes, it’s rather disappointing that it doesn’t treat aging but I still love it for the incredible moisturize it provides under my eyes. If you suffer from dryness, this is something you’ll really want to try out for size.
Great stuff and very much a Muse Approval.
I got it directly from Korea but YesStyle carries it for $23 or E-bay Sellers have it for $10-$15. I do believe it’s worth the price jack considering it will last ages as a little goes a long way plus the incredible formula.
