Clarins Instant Blush Magic Colour Review and Swatches

Ahh the sweetness of a blush.

There’s something gorgeous about a pink flush across cheek bones isn’t there? The type of pink that makes our cheeks glow after a romantic kiss or sometimes the brisk morning air that tinges our cheeks with a hint of pink.

Blushing pink cheeks give off a certain innocent, youthfulness.

If you want to capture just the right flush of pink you might be interested in the new Clarins Instant Blush Magic Colour.

Clarins Instant Blush is a a glossy balm that gives a natural flush of pink to cheeks and face!

Unlike most products of its type Clarins is not marketing this as something that “adapts” and gives you that “perfect pink” shade. Phew, thank god, can’t take much more of the PH Level, perfect shade of blush stuff. I un-intentionally misunderstood and thought it was such but Clarins simply says it’s a blush to boost your natural colour not something that will create a perfect shade of you blush so to speak.

So this is basically everything I ever wanted Smashbox O-Glow to be and also happens to work as wonderful as Givenchy Poetique Gloss (If you missed Givenchy’s version, it was LE, this is a perfect dupe). And of course, like, Givenchy’s Hydra Sparkling Lip and Cheek Balm. Considering Hydra Balm is scented, Clarins version may appeal since it doesn’t sport a perfume smell.

I actually like Clarins version more since the color pay off appears brighter to me.

How’s it work?

Pretty simple. Dab a little on cheeks and/or lips and it magically flushes both a pretty shade of pink. The color is pretty bright yet natural in my opinion, of course it all depends how much you put on and how well you blend it out. Some may find it’s a tad pink fuchsia on lips and possibly cheeks but I think it’s a rather flattering shade of natural pink on my cheeks (my lips is another story, more pink fuchsia and brighter). It comes in a jar with a balm-like formula which has an emollient feel. It feels very hydrating on your face and blends quite easily. The overall effect of the blush gives a natural, fresh face.

It does cast a shiny look on my cheeks so I have to be careful to blend it in fully otherwise I appear a tad oily.

  • Anyone who wants to look youthful (a flush of pink on cheeks takes off 10 years or more!)!
  • Anyone who wants long and light wearing makeup that’s travel friendly (take it on vacation with you to compliment your tan!).
  • Anyone who likes natural, fresher makeup (curl your lashes, dab some on your cheeks, a bit of gloss, and you’ll look fresh faced in a second!).

  • Anyone who isn’t keen on using fingers to apply product!

I liked this alot particularly for toting around with me since I can dab it and go. It’s really travel friendly as well particularly when you’re going away to something place warm and not wanting a ton of makeup with you, a simple dab will give your face a spark of life! On days I’m simply too lazy or busy to do full makeup looks I like having this around for a simple way to look fresh and lovely without having to take out an entire train case worth of makeup!

Ideal for the natural beauties out there who aren’t keen on wearing tons of makeup!

It’s worth a haul in my opinion or at the very least a look at when you head to your local Clarins counter. Play around with it, see what you think!

Oooh. Have you tried the NARS multiple tints? The ones that just came out this spring or summer or whatever (I can’t keep up with makeup releases, there’s too many). The Cadaques shade looks really pink in the tube, but when I put it on, it just sort of emphasizes my natural color, which I love. This totally reminds me of that! I like the NARS one better, I think, though, because it has no shimmer, and isn’t shiny at all.

Oh, the Clarins looked shimmery in the pot, and I thought it seemed like there were flecks of glittery things in the swatches you have, but maybe not (I have such bad eyesight at 23…sigh). And it’s true, the multiples are expensive, and I love the powder blushes…but the NARS tints really are lovely, and I feel like the give a fresher, more natural appearance sometimes, and with a liquid foundation or tinted moisturizer, I find they last pretty long. I do like the glow the Clarins gives you though! So pretty! 🙂 I’ve never tried Clarins products before.

i have a question about it though – does it act as a stain sort-of or just like a tinted balm? (i’m interested in the lips department – looks gorg on you Muse!)

    • the Muse

I can’t find Clarin’s instant blush magic colour anywhere! Not on Clarin’s website or any of the stores websites that say they sell Clarin’s products. Any ideas on where to find it?
