Clarins Rouge Prodige True Colour & Shine Lipstick Review and Swatches

Clarins says the first objective of a lipstick is the attract attention with its color and shine but they failed to mention elegant packaging draws the eye as well. You won’t be shy about whipping out the new Clarins Rouge Prodige True Colour & Shine Lipstick from your purse for touch up as it comes housed in a simple yet lovely gold case. The second objective of a lipstick is to remain flawless throughout the day….does Rouge Prodige do the trick?

16 shades of long, lasting intense color lipstick that contains high fidelity pearl, a high tech polymer, which captures color pigment and enhances its radiance and keeps pigments in place for superior color hold.

There’s something terribly beautiful about a posh tube of lipstick that holds an attraction to every woman who loves makeup. Clarin’s Rouge Prodige isn’t incredibly decorative or fancy but ends up making a statement with a simple yet elegant gold tube. It’s a tube of lipstick you won’t be shy pulling out for a touch up.

The lipstick formula isn’t incredibly moisturizing or hydrating, I’ve tried much better in the ways of moisture, but part of its main appeal is its ability to hold strong throughout the day. The formula glides on fairly well leaving behind a solid color pay off with a hint of shine, nothing dramatic but shine definitely factors into the final finish. It feels very comfortable on my lips and maintains its color all day without migrating or slipping around my mouth. It has a richer, creamier feel than lower ends such as MAC but as I mentioned not incredibly moisturizing.

I think the interesting thing about the lipstick is it somehow manages to stick around for extra long wear. Even after drinking my daily cuppa the product remains fresh and flawless. I think we can all enjoy the benefits of long wearing makeup which makes this an ideal pick.

I tried the shade Lilac Pink which leans towards being very mauve. Although I normally don’t wear mauves well this shade leaves a nice touch of natural color on my lips.

I wish it was a tad more hydrating. It’s not dry and sits comfortably on my lips but I like a lipstick with a heap more moisture and this doesn’t really have that!

  • Those who enjoy high end lipsticks (I know you’re out there!).
  • Anyone wanting a comfortable lipstick that wears long and strong throughout the day!
  • Anyone interested in a wide variety of shades (16 to choose from)!

  • Anyone who wants a deeply hydrating lipstick!

If you fancy higher end lipsticks, I think Clarins Rouge Prodige should fit the bill and may be something worth looking into particularly because it comes with the feel and look of high end but still manages to keep a fairly good price tag at $28 (some finer lipsticks will cost you $40 and upwards). The long wear of the product makes it a solid choice for flawless makeup throughout the day.

I tried one. I went to the drugstore by my workplace during a lunch. I appreciate Clarins, but found that my lips felt a little sticky !?
Clarins holds a few of my HG products like Woner Perfect mascara, the tinted moisturizer and the famous joli Rouge Brillant, but I don’t think Rouge Prodige will be a favorite of mine.
I might buy a red to keep as a red for a night at the restaurant since it holds so well…but won’t indulge in many shaded like I would with Joli Rouge and/or Brillant.

Hi Carielle I love Joli Rouge myself 😀 Sorry to hear about your less than stellar test out with Rouge Prodige 🙁

Great product! I feel that it is moisturizing. Most lipsticks dry my lips even if they are “hydrating” I feel that Rouge Prodige gives a great moisturizing creaminess feel to my lip. For the rest of the “hydrating” lipsticks out there… your longevity can NOT come close to Rouge Prodige! LOVE IT!

The lilac pink shown looks more mauve with the skin tone she has. When you put the color against white, it actually has quite a bit of blue in it vs the traditional brown you see in mauve. putting lipstick on the skin (or other makeup) for demonstration to show color is never true to what it would look like on yourself because of oxidation. this girl is definitely pulling some weird color with this lipstick! lilac pink is one of my fav’s and looks light purple on my 🙂

Clarins Rouge Prodige is discontinued in Canada & I love the stickiness. Do you have any suggestions for a replacement/dupe for the formula?
