I’ve reread The Mysteries of Udolpho every single Summer since Freshman Year in High School. What’s on your Summer reading list?

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. My summer reading list goes a little like this:

Ladies of Letters – this is going to be my beach read!

A Picture of Dorian Gray – AGAIN! I am compelled to re-read this every summer!

And today Jebediah Berry’s “The manual of detection” caught mine eye…..

I do love a good read.

    Muse,
You must read a few of the letters. They are deliciously hilarious! So very well written and packed with Brit nuances and humour. I think you just might like it. Light, jovial and great with a cuppa!!

I love Picture of Dorian Gray! For some reason though, I always have the urge to read it during the fall, not the summer, hehe!

I just started reading Suttree by Cormac McCarthy. It’s set in the underbelly of Knoxville, TN during the 1950’s. Think shady characters, lots of whisky and one reluctant hero.

I’m also just about to wrap up a collection of articles written by Hunter S. Thompson called The Great Shark Hunt.

hey jersey girl I prob associate it with Summer reading list from the 7th grade haha 😀 which is why I tend to think of Summer/Dorian Gray!

hmmm sounds interestin’!!!!!!!!!! haven’t heard of Suttree but must look that up!

I haven’t read Mysteries of Udolpho but I would like to. I am impressed that you read it every summer–I suck at rereading!

I don’t really have anything specific on my summer reading list. Right now I am reading Imprefect Birds, by Anne Lamott and The Brothers Karamazov. by Dostoevsky. The latter will take me way longer to read than this summer though!

ugh steph I’m a chronic re-reader when I love something 😀 The Brothers Karamazov is a difficult, complex read 😀 I find it’s a nicer one for reading with a group as you can discuss it and get more of a feel for the passages.
