Lush Tinted Lip Balm: Lush Double Choc Tinted Lip Balm and Lush It Started With a Kiss Tinted Lip Balm

They tell me a kiss is just a kiss but lips that are tinted during the kiss would be more than JUST a kiss right? Maybe….could be..

Anyway.

Lush Lip Balms fans around here? I’m not. I hate the stuff. I know, GASP, the Muse hates something from Lush, impossible!? Blasphemy! Yeah, well, I’m not a big fan, it has such a hard texture, yack!

But…

If you’re a fond fan you’ll be every so happy and excited about the release of the new Lush Tinted Lip Balm!

Jump!

This kiss starts with delicious red apples that gives a sweet, tart taste. Cinnamon and white chocolate follow up creating a perfect blend of spicy sweetness that makes you think of toffee apples and don’t forget it stains lips a gorgeous shade of natural red!

Hazelnut with icing sugar and black treacle give this chocolate-y treat a sweet, creamy texture with a tiny hint of creamy chocolate color.

Whatcha think?

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I love LUSH but I don’t know how well their tints hold up.

  • Stephanie

Like you, I am NOT a fan of Lush lip balm. The texture is never consistent and always disappointing. Some of them are so greasy and thin that it feels like I am rubbing motor oil on my lips.

    • the Muse

Agreed Stephanie. In most cases I find they are REALLY hard textured. No likey. Wonder about these ones!

  • Robyn

the pink one looks really similar to the rose vaseline which i love but dont like the taste/smell of so curious ! as apple sounds noice! but ive never tried alush lip balm so not sure id like or not and usually i agree with the muse lol

  • steelnpurple

Knowing myself I will probably end up getting one to test. 🙂

  • Heather

I found what works with their lip balms is to let them slightly melt.

  • Danny

These are actually harder than the Lush lip balms at least the Double Choc one I have is and the Started with a kiss that I have seen also was. They are quite a different product in my opinion and I’m pretty sure the ingredients differ slightly.
They do soften up with the heat from your finger after a while though.

The coverage is pretty good tbh, at least for something that is supposed to just be a ‘tint’. The double choc makes the most impact and can actually make your lips seem like you’ve got a dark brown lipstick on if you apply enough.

It started with a kiss smells exactly the same as Lip Squeak! Which is a lipbalm that sadly got discontinued, the smell is absolutely gorgeous!

I was just wondering which of the balms you had tried btw? Some of them I do find a little hard (lip service, honeytrap) but I’ve always found the others to be quite nice once you’ve warmed them up a little.
I’ve always considered Whipstick, Eggsnog and especially None of your beeswax to be quite soft? So much so that I’ve had both Eggsnog and None of your beeswax actually melt in my bag!
Let them at cake was very very soft, and was quite oily but then again it was supposed to be a gloss.

  • Petra

I wonder of the pink-red one is similar in taste to the one they discontinued… Don’t remember the name, but it was spicy apple tart flavoured and I loved it. 🙂
Muse, have you tried the None of Your Beesewax one? I really like the formula and texture of that one. Although some find that the small particles make it gritty – I personally don’t really notice, but that’s the favourite of mine, texture and scentvise (lemon-vanilla.honeyish). I wouldn’t advise You to purchase it unseen though, if You had such bad experiences with it. 🙂

(totally off: have You tried their new R&B hair treatment? OMG brilliant!)

    • the Muse

I don’t remember that one petra!?

Naa I avoided it since I don’t love their balms…..I think I’ll skip if others hated it, I prob will too 😀

Not yet! WANTS! Heard great things!

      • Petra

I think You too have thicker, curly hair? Mine is *very* curly, prone to frizz, and I love the stuff. Although a warning: the scent really lingers around you, so if someone doesn’t like it, then it might not be a success story to them. However I really like the citrusy-sweet scent, and I have noticed pretty big improvement in my hair already. Not to mention I’ve found it doubles as a hair styleing product too, when I let my hair airdry (summer, yay). 🙂 Hope You do a review if You ever do try the stuff! 🙂

        • the Muse

same here petra!!!!! 😀 sounds lovely. 😀 but of course, I’m an utter lush fan girl so will review!

  • Amy

Ohh god, I’m such a sucker for the PR descriptions they always make everything sound so lovely. The Apple and the Choc sound gorge! I loved Eggsnog it was worth the broken fingers to get that baby outta the tin so I might try one of these – still have half a pot of Baume de Rose (By Terry) so it might have to wait.

  • Kay

I have not yet tried a Lush lip balm, though from a little nosing in the shop they did seem quite hard. These have intregued me though, double choc? Yum 🙂

  • Steph

I’ll wait for reviews about this product. I’ve never tried a Lush lip balm but won’t buy one if the formula is as hard and waxy as you profess (even though these flavors sound delectable :c )

  • Eric K.

Mmmmm, LOVE the Lush lip balms. Of course, if you don’t keep them warm they turn nasty and hard. The trick is to keep them in your pocket so that they warm up nicely. Lip Service is my forever lover. <3

  • Kasey

Lush’s lip balms are horrible. I hate how they smell so much that I couldn’t even tell you if they are moisturizing! I depotted all of mine to use the tin they came in. One of the lip balms I got (one honey trap and two let them eat cake) was free. Thank god! It was not filled all the way, smushed, oily, and disgusting looking. That is all I have ever bought from Lush and I will never come back!

    • the Muse

kasey NOT a lush balm fan either but don’t give up on Lush 😀 they make the BEST skin and haircare and fab bombs too!

  • Aysha

I have both of these an love them! They aint like lushs lipbalms, u cant feel them once its on!they are both really pigmented (u literally tap the top of the balm or kiss it n u hav colour! an they hav stayin power. The red one smells of sweet toffee apples but the spicey note stops it being sickly, its a beautiful matte red which looks gawjus. Double choc is a Brown colour with bronze tint which makes lips look smooth n plump, it does smell of dark choc but its not very sweet. I love both they giv alot of colour without makin u look 2 over done!

    • the Muse

hey aysha thanks for sharing your review on these. I might still grab ’em 😀
