Maybelline Expert Wear Eyeshadow Just Peachy Review and Swatches

So who nailed Stereo Rose? I sent my sister on a mission to mars to see if she could snag me one at Macy’s on her trip to the bank this morning. She isn’t back yet. Do you think the MAC gods ate her? I need my Stereo Rose damnit.

I didn’t think this would sell out so quickly but my MAC store got six and they wouldn’t hold any no matter how much I begged, pleaded, and promised them mounds of cash. Oh well.

If you got it I officially fart in your general direction and if you’re in the FAIL group with me, let’s all huddle together and have a group prayer session.

Anyway off the topic of Stereo Rose, this morning I was messing around with a limited edition Maybelline Expert Wear Eyeshadow in Just Peachy.

Check it!

A duo eyeshadow with two shades of color and a sponge tip applicator.

Umm ok don’t quote me but I think the shade is LE only not the actual product. I’m no great expert on drugstore makeup so I’m gonna say it’s the shade that’s LE here. Feel free to correct me if you wrong.

I purchased this simply because I was digging on the shade. Juicy Peach comes with a frosty cream white and a softer peachy coral shade. Nice shades if you happen to look great in warm colors. I thought the shades would go great with a Summer look using some sort of peach or coral blush.

Well wow kinda sucks the only good thing about it, is the color selection.

Formula isn’t exactly fabulous in my humblest opinion. The cream shade applies a bit frosty and as you already know I’m kinda enemies with frosty shades of shadow. The peach shade is quite nice however again the formula suffers, not so much with frost, but just the general feel of both shadows isn’t so fab. They swatch silky and pigmented but they apply a hot mess. Application kinda drags around on the lid and you end up with strange patchy areas of bare skin in one spot and shadow in another…I’ve no idea what to call this transaction going on here other than a hot mess. They don’t blend well, they don’t apply well, but they do sport decent pigmentation. Nothing wow aspiring mind you but not bad either.

The shade selection really works well together as you can apply the creamy white all over the lid and crease and follow up with the peach on the outer lid or within the crease. Sadly, the entire surface of your lid/crease/eye won’t have a nice even, smooth finish after using this and you’ll notice the shadow creases easily even after proper prepping and priming!

  • Anyone who likes peachy or warmer shades of shadow!
  • Anyone on a beauty budget.

  • Anyone who wants shadow that applies beautifully with little fanfare.
  • Anyone who doesn’t like shadow that migrates around (for some reason this ended up under my eyes, in the corner of my eyes, etc…not pretty).
  • Anyone who wants shadow that blends like a dream!

If you find it on sale it might be worth a pick up since the colors are very flattering however at regular price it would be a big pass. I mean I’d probably dish out a buck or two for it but not more than that. The formula needs a hell of alot of work that much is true but for some reason I have a soft spot in my heart for the colors.

Meh….

Another drugstore purchase gone terribly wrong!

Anyone like Maybelline Expert Wear Eyeshadow?

Yay?

Nayyyyyyyyy?

lol Monty Python and the Holy Grail. It’s been a while since I’ve seen that. But i’m with you totally FAILED at getting Stereo Rose. Lets pray they release it again or make it permanent! I hate when MAC does that.

    • the Muse

rena waiting on my sis PLEASE jebus grant me a flavor 😀

haha! Glad you enjoy Monty Python 😀 can’t believe SR sold out so quick WTH mac

  • Casey

    Thanks for this post 🙂
I’m on a hugeee budget right now, so it’s drugstore only until I get a job.

The white seems like it would be a nice highlight shade. I’ve had good luck with Maybelines palettes, but haven’t tried out the duos.

    • the Muse

casey seems like a tot diff formula my dear compared to the palettes, I like them ok 😀 this would be good on sale but don’t pay full price lovie.

      my pleasure!

  • teresa

thats a shame, especially since those are such pretty colors. it is limeted edition. Its from maybellines sweet thing collection from march i think. They had 3 other shadow duos wirh purple, blue, and green colors. Much better for the cooler skintones but that peach shade looks like it looks good on both warm and cool tones.

    • the Muse

hey teresa you’re a gem thanks for clarifying 😀 I remember that collection! I thought it would be but sadly formula blows sigh!

  • Scientific Housewife

I’m not a big fan of Maybelline eyeshadows but I do have a few and they can last with a good eye primer.

    • the Muse

hey Miss Rush 😀 I checked out seating and I think I might indulge so we might meet up hehe! Sadly, no luck here. They slid around and creased a fair bit for me damn 😛

  • Kristina

I ordered Stereo Rose and Petticoat 1/2 hour after they came available on MAC website. This morning I got an email telling me they are unable to fulfill my order! The Stereo Rose is out of stock and won’t ship for 2 weeks. I better not get another one in a week or two telling me they cancelled that part of my order completely! At least Petticoat is on its way…

    • the Muse

I must be a total ass Kristina b/c I really didn’t SR would sell out so fast. OMG can’t believe that 😛 I had Petticoat, two actually, but SR I’ve been wanting for AGES! UGH I hope you get it dear!

  • Erica B.

I am still crossing my fingers for your stereo rose. I told my BF its almost the thrill of the catch that makes me want these products even more!!! I guess this is what parents felt like when Tickle Elmo was about to be released…LOL

    • the Muse

LOL erica good reference. Stereo Rose is safe and sound with me now :-D!

  • Miss D

I have another eyeshadow set from Maybelline and it sucks in the exact same way. It looks promising, but when you apply it comes on completely uneven no matter how much of it you put on! 🙁

  • Hendrix

Eeee, I got one! I love these damn MSFs. And the way I use cheek stuff, they’ll last forever.

Did your sister come through for you, Muse?

  • Stephanie

Haha, you have the best sense of humor Muse. I had the same experience with the Diamonds LE duo eyeshadows- the Amethyst Diamond one was SO frickin’ pretty, but the formula was horrible.
    So sad.

    • the Muse

ha steph at least someone gets my wicked weird SOH! I was tempted to buy those, got suckered in by the “diamond” glad I didn’t!

  • Dana

I really like the color too but the formula is dry and fall out is high.

  • Stavroula Plag

I love your reviews! Those 2 colors look so pretty in the pan, it’s such a shame they don’t look that pretty on the skin! :/

    • the Muse

aw thanks stav xoxo! sigh…agreed great shades in the pan but bad formula!

  • charlotte

HI Muse! How was your vacation? I was missing you and your blogs 🙂

I really like how pretty theses colors look but have experienced problems with any maybelline eyeshadow staying on my eyes for more than a few hours. Have you seen or heard about these new collections for summer 2010 by Maybelline?

    • the Muse

hi charlotte thanks 🙂 it was great! it’s good to be back, missed ya back 😀

ya same here 😛 blah sigh!

You’re looking at the SunDiva Euro release Charlotte. We won’t get it within the US and the other collection already has items out at drugstores such as the purple palette.
