NYX Bronze Smokey Look Kit Review and Swatches

Gather rather recessionista beauty junkies. Some of you may be saving your hard earned cash for a Summer holiday, or for the upcoming school year, or maybe some of you just can’t shell out out $30 or more on makeup.

No worries.

Want a Summer palette that’s utterly affordable with some warm shades of color?

You NEED the NYX Bronze Smokey Look Kit.

Check it!

An eye and lip palette filled with warm, Summer shades housed in a super slick compact for a mere $11 bucks!

Well…go on, count me impressed.

The NYX Bronze Smokey Look Kit is simply darling! I absolutely love this little palette and think it’s well worth a pick up this Summer particularly if you’re lemming hard on palettes from Urban Decay and the likes, as this is a mere $11 bucks! Money saved if you can’t afford to dish out for something more expensive.

Although it looks large the palette is actually a little bit bigger than a Givenchy blush. It’s a small square box with a flip up design and a hidden draw which houses the lip colors. Flip it open to reveal nine shades of bronzes, golds, and browns in various finishes of matte shimmer, and velvet. Pull out the stealthy little draw on the bottom to reveal a bronze lip color and a popping pink one plus two dual sided applicators one for lips and one for eyes.

The shadows are actually really awesome. They blend beautifully without creating a muddy mess with zero fall out and a smooth, velvety formula. Even the mattes in the palette are very easy to work with!

The shades are all touches of warm that can be used together in a contrasting eye look or separately for a dash of Sun on lids. The box has some easy to follow step by step instructions for contrasting if you’re at a lost but I think pretty much all the shades compliment each other so it’s easy enough to create a really simple, flattering look quickly!

I didn’t love the lip colors included. They just didn’t look so fabulous on me. Warmer shades of coral or peach would have complimented the shadows much better in my opinion.

  • Anyone wanting more for less (nine shades of shadow, two lip colors, applicators, mirror, cute palette for $11 bucks dude!)
  • Anyone who favors warm, Summer-y shades of bronze, gold, or brown.
  • Anyone who’s sporting a tan (these shades will compliment it well)!
  • Anyone who likes small, easy to travel palettes that can create an array of looks!

  • Anyone who isn’t keen on smaller size palettes.
  • Anyone who doesn’t work bronzes, golds, or browns well (no worries NYX has a shade for you! The Smokey Look Kits are available in a few shades including purple!)

If you’re traveling this Summer, this will make an ideal kit to take with you as it has plenty of product without causing a stir at the airport. It’s tiny and travels easily and offers a range of beautiful Summer colors. If you fall into the realms of beauty on a budget, this is an ideal little palette to fill your makeup sweet tooth without weighting downing your wallet. The shades all worth beautifully together and have a really great formula although I didn’t make proper use of the lip products, I still enjoyed the overall cuteness of the product. I loved the size and shades! The palette is ideal for Summer looks but will work well into the Fall for a warm look.

(Cheeks: Stereo Rose baby!)

Really a cute palette and well worth a pick up.

Love the colors. I just got the Champagne and Caviar palette and I am in love with it, many similar colors.

  • Misato-san

    NYX fan here!
I like this palette but I won’t buy it only because… I’m not a warm and natural colors girl at all. ^^
But I’m considering the purple smokey one because I love purple and NYX palettes are really affordable and of wonderful quality.

  • Kelly

Thanks for the review! I don’t know if you’re wearing the pink lip in the pictures of you, but the color looks so pretty.

Now I want this palette so badly.

    • the Muse

oh that’s actually something else kelly but thank you 🙂

  • Vonvon

This is a very versatile palette and the shades are classics. It can be used for most occasions, I think, and we just need to play with the colors a bit and many looks will come.

And I like the purple one too!

With the price tag, one can have all the palettes in this range! 😀

Thanks for sharing the review Muse. By any chance, have you saw the nude palette (S109N)? What do u think of this as compare? TIA

  • Serendipitous Sisters

We love NYX! I really want to try the Urban Decay Naked palette though…it looks sooooo hot!

  • jerseygrrrl78

I had never tried NYX before purchasing this palette and I must say I am impressed with the formula of these shadows! I picked up both the bronze palette and the nude one. I wasn’t particularly fond of the lip colors that were included in the bronze palette either but the ones in the nude palette worked out much better 🙂

    • the Muse

yay jerseygrrl awesome for you adding this to your stash 😀 I haven’t tried the nude but want too. wasn’t so hot on the bronze one in regards to the lippies but loved the shadows alot!

  • Hazel Lyn

I’ll have to buy this once I get my S109N palette (the NYX Nude on Nude Natural Look Kit). And One Night in Morocco. And the Purple Smokey Look Kit as well. Hope you do more NYX reviews Muse! Your reviews are always detailed and I love that even though you can afford high end brands and probably used to them that you still manage to be able to get into other people’s shoes— specifically, “beauty on a budget” girls like me— and tell us what products are worth our money/investment! 😀

    Thank you for that!

  • Ria

I love your blog..I chanced upon it yesterday and your opinions are so honest and fresh..

    • the Muse

aw thanks ria thank you very much always pleasant to hear that <3!

  • Kathy

Wow Muse, you look amazing in that picture! I honestly did a double take when I scrolled down. I’ve heard that this is a good dupe for the Urban Decay Naked Palette. What do you think? And is this still in stores? Thanks!

    • the Muse

you’re too kind kathy thanks. I wouldn’t compare this to UD naked at all, quite vastly different products 🙂 they aren’t, NYX discontinued them a while ago. You might be able to find via ebay though! Hope this helps!

  • Dd

Hi there! I can’t decide which palette should I buy — either this NYX bronze palette or Too Faced Natural eyeshadow palette? Can you help me with this? 🙁 thanks!
