Avon ANEW Youth-Awakening Eyeshadow and Primer Kit Review and Swatches

I got an earworm this morning and it goes something like this, “So I put my hands up, They’re playing my song, And the butterflys fly away! Noddin’ my head like yeah, Moving my hips like yeah, And I got my hands up, They’re playin my song, I know I’m gonna be ok Yeah, It’s a party in the USA, Yeah, It’s a party in the USA!

Oh god. Someone stop me please.

Miley Cyrus was on Graham Norton and I was flipping through it this morning now I can’t get the damn song out of my head. Ugh. I wanted to see Jack Whitehall but bloody Miley kept getting in the way grrrr!

Anyway.

That was so off the topic of makeup right?

Anyone see the new Avon ANEW Youth-Awakening Eyeshadow and Primer Kit? Possibly a cool budget pick!

Check it!

A 3 in 1 eye kit formulated with Avon Anew Poly-Lifting Technology to help visibly shape eyelid contours, firm lids, and fill wrinkles!

This set is a double jar which features two shades of shadow on top and a full pot of primer below plus a sponge applicator for application. The formula is supposed to be suitable for anyone starting to experience fine lines on their lids or sagging however I have neither and still made great use of the overall duo.

Flip the lid to reveal a mini mirror and two shades of shadow. The shadow formula is quite nice with a good deal of color pay off and a nice silky formula. It wears very well with colors remaining true sans creasing or fading with proper prepping and primer. The bottom pot contains an interesting eye primer. The primer, as mentioned above, is supposed to contour lids and give them a firmer look while filling lines and plumping. I can’t say if this actually works as my eyes aren’t in any condition as of yet to speak of these problems however the primer is actually pretty good at keeping shadow in place. The shade is a fleshy nude which comes across with a tiny touch of color so it gives any dullness on the lid a nice pick me up kinda like Benefit Lemon Aid but not nearly as good. It has a slightly silicone, powdery feel and blends fairly easily without feeling oily or greasy.

I tried the shade Cinnamon Shimmer which is a buttery gold shade and a subtle shade of coral or cinnamon if you please. Although the shadows sport a velvety texture and swatch on the shimmery side, I felt like they applied frosty on my lids.

I’m a nitpicker so of course I find it annoying that Avon included a dual sided applicator but no where to put the applicator. The duo comes in a box and is super cool packaging wise with the shadows on top and primer screwed below however there isn’t a spot to put the applicators unless you save the box. For some reason this irks me.

Cinnamon Shimmer is a great duo. The shades paired up together work very well however they do come across kinda frosty on me and sadly frost just doesn’t look so fab on my fuller face.

I liked the eye primer alot but it doesn’t mattify the eye area so if you have oily lids you may find it difficult working with a formula like this which comes across creamier than say UDPP.

  • Anyone seeking more for less (you’re getting two shades of shadow, a primer, plus applicators for $9.50).
  • Anyone who needs a eye primer but can’t afford to dish out for UDPP (primer is actually quite decent on this and it holds shadow in place all day).

  • Anyone with oily lids (you might find it’s difficult working with this primer on oily lids!).
  • Anyone who hates dipping in with fingers (the primer works best when smoothed on with a finger tip but sadly if you’re anal about bacteria this might not be your bag. You can always use a brush!).
  • Anyone who isn’t keen on frosty finishes (can’t speak for the other shades but the one I tried came across very frosty).

For the buck you do get a nice bit of product here plus it’s all available in a travel friendly pot however if you’re already a fond fan of some other primer, I’m not necessarily sure you absolutely need this. It’s promise of firming, filling, and making eyes look fresher might appeal to older women however I can’t say if this necessarily works since my eyes aren’t too aged as of yet. The eye primer itself I’d probably buy by itself if it was available as it isn’t half bad. I liked the overall look the shadows gave me as well but it didn’t rock my makeup world enough to want to purchase others.

Pretty nice if you’re on a budget but not necessarily something you have to have!
