Lush Cosmetics Gorgeous Moisturizer Review
As I blogger I tend to test WAY too much makeup, skincare, fragrance, and beauty bits and bobs. One thing I never did get into testing was skincare. For a very long time, I avoided trying out new lotions and potions because I always blamed my great skin on Lush Cosmetics and was quite happy with my skincare regime from them.
About a year and a half into my adventures on Musings I started to testing way too much skincare from various brands. I was switching up my moisturizer, my toner, and just about everything else. I dunno what prompted me to cheat on Lush when I was so very die hard, faithful to them for such a long time……
Last month I realized that I needed to embraced my Lush again because my skin just wasn’t looking as great as it did when I was using it. Dullness, oily forehead, and even tiny break outs on my jaw line were some of the problems I had been experiencing after leaving my beloved Lush behind.
Although I’ve shared with you my secrets of Lush in the past, I’ve never really sat down and reviewed the items I’ve spoken about in past posts and I think that needs to be changed right now.
Because everyone should about the joys of great skin care.
Jump ahead to learn about my HG (holy grail) moisturizer from Lush!
A light, non greasy moisturizer meant for all skin types made with six organic oils and butters to keep skin clear and as its namesake says, Gorgeous!
One thing you have to love about Gorgeous is how universally suitable it is for any and all skin types. Dry folks will love it for being hydrating yet light enough not to sit on top of their skin. Oily folks will dig the runny consistency and how easily it absorbs into skin without leaving behind a greasy film. Combination types will adore how it whisks away their dry patches and keeps their oily bits from becoming greasier.
It’s simply a moisturizer that’s suitable for any and all skin types.
It comes housed in a 1.5 oz pot and smells like Fruit Loops cereal. Some folks say it smells like Fruity Pebbles but for me, I get Fruit Loops in milk! At nearly $90, it’s one of Lush’s priciest facial moisturizers and well worth in my opinion since a little dab will do you and a full pot should last a year (over a year even but sadly the expiration date will keep you from using it that long!).
Gorgeous has a runny consistency but it’s dense enough to work with. It absorbs easily into the skin which is always a major plus for moisturizer as it isn’t sitting on top of your skin, making for an uncomfortable experience.
Why do I like it….
First off it keeps my skin dewy and very, very soft. It absorbs easily and doesn’t leave behind a greasy, oily feel. It keeps my skin very fresh, very youthful, and very gorgeous as per its name eh? The lack of preservatives in the ingredients seem to agree very well with my skin and keeps dullness at bay. Some folks claim that Gorgeous has a knack for making skin look alot less tired and I for one agree. The formula is packed with Lemon Juice among other fruits, I blame the Lemon Juice for keeping my skin lively and bright.
Lush says the pineapple juice and green grapes in the mix contains enzymes, which clean the skin and break down dirt and oil. I can easily believe it because since starting to use Gorgeous again my skin is considerably less oily around the forehead and nose and my problems with the tiny break out alarm around my jaw line is completely gone.
Sadly, it does come in a pot and isn’t fabulous for those of us who prefer squeeze tubes or pumps for our moisturizers. I try to set this aside since it’s such a fab product but I def hope Lush will consider a pump one day!
I do hate the one year expiration date. I find that I can get over a year out of a pot of Gorgeous but since it contains such fresh ingredients I do have to toss it after it expires. In most cases at the year’s end I normally have very little left but still at this price I’d like to be able to use it ALL up.
- Anyone wanting dewy, touchable soft skin!
- Anyone who’s having skin freak out moments (tired skin, dull skin, tiny break outs…)!
- Anyone who needs a lightweight moisturizer to hydrate tired skin!
- Those who aren’t keen on touching their facial creams, lotions, and potions!
- Anyone who doesn’t want to be pressed for time (the one year expiration date does put pressure to use it all before it goes bad!).
As the weeks go by I can’t help but look in the mirror and shake my head and ask myself, “Why did you ever stop using this stuff? It makes your skin glow!” My brief hiatus from Lush did teach me something, that nothing quite works as well as Lush on my skin! Gorgeous Moisturizer is definitely HG for me and well worth its $90 price tag, I’m terribly silly to ever have ventured away from it! The only thing that would make it better is a few anti-aging ingredients and SPF thrown in the mix!
Loves it!
Very Muse Approved for purchase! But don’t trust me, head to Lush and kindly ask for a tiny sample and they’ll happily provide one. Try it out and you’ll see the difference I’m sure!
