NARS Pure Matte Lipstick: Yay or Nay?

A matte lip is very modern, whether nude or deeply pigmented. Try a color close to your skin tone for a universally flattering look. Pair darker hues with a fresh complexion and little makeup. But, always choose a formula that has hydrating ingredients to condition lips.” -François Nars, Founder & Creative Director of NARS Cosmetics

Gosh I wish I agreed. I personally can’t sport matte finish lippies to be honest. They just make me look deathly however I’m willing to take a chance on one by NARS.

Hmmmm!

I love matte lipstick so am really looking forward to trying this range! Looks amazing 🙂

Matte lipstick is the only kind of lipstick i wear. However, it does require some prep and maintenance, which in my mind isn’t a big deal because all bright lipsticks require some kind of effort. I’m super excited about these mattes from NARS obviously, but the lipstick the model is wearing in the promo photo doesn’t look like the classic matte…many folks have commented on this, maybe that bit of shine is their way of showing that it will still be moisturizing?

    • the Muse

knownever yup I agree a bit of shine there for sure and could be just the way the formula is made as it does sport a hydrating formula and not your traditional dry matte 😀

Eh- I love the look, but I think they’re overpriced for the amount of product. I’ll stick w/ my MAC and Revlon mattes.

I love matte lipsticks. I blot and apply powder over a tissue to all of my lipsticks to make them appear matte (my favorite beauty trick!)

Is it just me or do i see shine in the promo picture? Haha

They look lovely, but I don’t love matte lippies on me… they tend to make my already not so full lips look harsh and thinner… pass.

I love the look, but I can’t do matte at all. My lips are small enough as it is, and matte lipsticks just make them look shriveled. I love the promo pic though, she looks like a pretty little doll.

she’s gorgeous matryoshka I agree 😀 but I can’t pull off matte either don’t feel bad 😛 it’s a hard medium to work with!

I have a few of MACs Mattenes and I love them 🙂

But as these are very hard to get, I will not have a chance to compare them.
    Will you try one?

I love matte. I usually wear cream shades or nothing with shimmer and matte. The idea of a creamy matte is enticing. I suspect these will look more suede than matte. Which IMHO is an exciting texture too. Not seen any brand come up with a suede texture so am looking forward to it.

Matte lipsticks are usually drying! :/ And they don’t look good on me! 🙁
