Reader’s Request: Vincent Longo Lip & Cheek Gel Stain Review and Swatches

Cheek stain is one of my makeup life’s longest wearing product. Most makeup wears off, oxidizes, and never really wears well throughout the day but you can always rely on a good cheek stain to stay put until YOU take it off. How many cosmetics do that?! Not many in my opinion!

I recently stocked up on my favorite cheek stain by Vincent Longo as there is a sale ongoing at the moment of 25% Off and a reader had requested I review the product after getting it. Strangely enough, Vincent Longo Lip and Cheek Gel is my HG (holy grail) for a very long time now but I never took a second out to review it.

Jump ahead to hear my thoughts!

A water based, gel formula lip and cheek stain!

The market is saturated with cheek stains. I can remember a time, near 10 years or more ago, when Benetint was about your only cheek stain option. But since Benetint’s reigns demise, cheek stains pretty much are available from every brand in various formulas and shades.

I have plenty of favorites such as the Stila Crushes however I always find that I go back to Vincent Longo Lip & Cheek Stain as my true HG.

I’ve been using this for, gosh, at least 10 years and I love it because it blends so easily. I think many of our pet peeves in regards to stains definitely stems from difficult formulas that do not easily blend out. Vincent Longo stain blends easily due to its high water content formula. The product is very pigmented so a tiny dab is all you need. It applies with a sponge tip applicator which makes it easy to swipe on and blend out. It doesn’t dry down super fast so it gives you plenty of time to blend it easily onto cheeks. Although “gel” appears in the name I find the texture is a tad runny so it feels like a gel mixed with a good deal of water.

Of course, best reason to purchase it, or any stain for that matter is its incredible long wearing time. It’s basically bulletproof blush. Waterproof, sweat-proof, go to the pool or beach-proof, humidity and heat-proof….you name it, this stuff will weather through it. It doesn’t go ANYWHERE until you take it off.

The product does multitask as a lip stain as well but I’m not keen on using one applicator for face and lips so I use stain pens for lips.

Vincent Longo has one of the nicer color selections available with seven shades to choose from. Ideally most cheek stains come in one to two shade selections so it’s nice having quite a bit of variety.

I honestly can’t think of a single thing I don’t love about the product!

  • Anyone who wants a blush that wears all through the day and into the evening without any touching up in between!
  • Anyone who likes to swim daily and wants their makeup to last through it!
  • Anyone who lives in a warm or humid environment who has problems with makeup slipping, melting, and fading away!
  • Anyone who adore cheek stains!

  • Anyone with super dry skin (be sure you’re well hydrated prior to application because this will look patchy without proper prepping).
  • Fairer/paler skin types may find shades are a tad too dark.

Ease of blending, a long wearing formula, and naturally flushed cheeks make Vincent Longo Lip & Cheek Gel Stain a winning pick for my cheek stain needs. I absolutely love the freshly flushed look it gives to my cheeks. It makes me look healthy and younger. It’s definitely a fav of mine and worth a cheek out!

I love Vincent Longo, but if I may warn about the other stains; the pearlescent ones…they are insanely frosty! I love these colors.

    Hi Muse!

I know this post is a bit old but I was wondering if you could provide a color description for me. I read My Sunshine described as a ‘natural red’ but your swatch is making me think otherwise. How would you describe My Sunshine?

Thanks in advance for your help! Warm wishes your way!

    • the Muse

peachy bronze kayla def not natural red, how weird it was described as such! hope this helps 🙂

  • Kayla

HAHA! On MUA a bunch of people said it was natural red so I at first thought the reviews were labeled under ‘My Sunshine’ by mistake. But now I’m thinking they have vision problems or are on crack because some of the ones that said natural red even had the correct name in their post! So glad you were able to come to the rescue! 🙂 Thanks for your help!

    • the Muse

weird kayla! it’s def a more peachy/corally brown to me. I hope this helps :D!

Thanks for the review…I would use this as a lip stain only..what is the lasting power on the lips? (I am also considering smashbox limitless lipstick or tarte..can’t get them all so what to choose…??) I’m looking for real long lasting power and as natural as possible….any ideas?
