Smashbox Masquerade Liquid Liner & Lash Overlay Review and Swatches

You’re not officially American unless you’re multitasking your way through life. Driving while on your cell phone, reading your e-mail while updating your blog, texting your best friend while debating politics with your neighbor, walking while chewing gum at the same time….this is the society we live in. We have to juggle 10 to 20 different tasks a day, we can’t take time out and do one thing and proceed to follow up with another after the first task is complete, we need to do them both, together, simultaneously. If you can’t do it, you’re out of this rat race because it’s an essential skill in work and your personal life (if you have kids you need to juggle even more, say 20-30 different things).

Maybe all that multitasking has drained out into our makeup because many products nowadays promise to do everything and than some. Multitasking is the new wave of your makeup future.

For example the new Smashbox Masquerade Liquid Liner & Lash Overlay performs two functions, nope not one, this bad boy multitasks with the best of us.

How?

Jump!

A dual purpose formula for the lash line and lashes.

So here it is multitasking at its best. One product, two uses.

This is a brushless roll style application which you can smooth onto lashes as an overlay. It basically dyes lashes a rich, golden bronze shade. No one says you can’t use it as a mascara as well if you want as you can get a fair bit of volume brushing it through lashes but I do suggest curling, putting on your normal mascara, and following up with this as you’ll get a fair bit more of drama if you do.

Now the applicator not only offers the option to use the product as an overlay it also allows you the line with as well since it includes a tine brush on the top of the wand which you can line with.

Nifty right?

You have to be careful when using this as a lash overlay in conjunction with mascara because it can get a little clumpy. Just be sure to go slowly during the application process!

  • Anyone looking for a more dramatic finish to their lashes (this makes lashes look a golden bronze).

  • Anyone unwilling to have alot of product hanging out on their lashes (this does weight lashes down when used with mascara, it’s a tad heavy).

I liked this alot for Fall as it gives my lashes a certain richer look particularly when paired with brown or gold shades of eyeshadow. It kinda gives my final eyeshadow look a bit of something extra and makes things look dramatic and interesting! Quite nice and worth looking at next trip to Sephora if you’re into lash overlays such as this. It also comes in green (haven’t tried that one yet).

I don’t know how I feel about applying it my lashes but it looks like neat liner, especially come fall.

I was wondering if you’d have new smashbox reviews since they’re on QVC tonight at midnight & tomorrow thru out the day!

Oooo.. haha I am going to try and paint some of my bronze liquid liner on my lashes now, just to see how it looks 😛

I like the idea of a mascara+liner duo 😀 Great for me coz I rarely use mascara, so combining them will let me use it up faster (as a liner) than drying up :/

    hey Muse!

I have a lash/liner combination just like this from Lise Watier- they launched last holidays already and are glittery, which is fun if you are a giltter/sparkle/shiny whore such as myself ):> Anyways, I wasn’t a huge fan of the LW ones- found the lash overlay was okay, not worth $20; the grooves arent very deep and dont cover lashes like i’d like. i’d rather spend money on a nice mac pearl glide liner and add my own glitter to my lashes. this SB is a bronze which is nice, but not something i’d own. the masquerade palette looks FANTASTIC tho! 🙂

telle are you kidding? you’re speaking to the Queen of glitter 😀 I know what you mean as I have alot of Japanese glitter over lash treatments with the same prob 😀 The masquerade palette is rocking 😀 Did you see my swatches?!

I got this one in the green one and it’s a really pretty color! My only issue was that it did flake a tiny bit after 8 hours of wear. It was my first foray into liquid liners, and on the plus side I found it really user friendly to apply!

hey doll! Aw that stinks but hey 8 hours of wear is pretty damn great 😀

  • Telle

Hey Muse! I haven’t checked the swatches yet :p.
I don’t know if you are familiar w/ LW but check out the website- they have a tonne of glitter liners in a host of different colors and they retails for 17 or 18 CDN! 🙂

hey telle yup I sure am 😀 I like the color wheel from the brand 😀 thanks for the heads up but I didn’t know about the glitter liners 😀

      • telle

YAY! I am glad you know about LW! :))
I had the color wheel used on me when i had a rep replicate a look from last summer’s color line (a blue based quad and one ought not to have dark circles or darkness on the side of the nose close to the eyes when wearing blues…LOL). Check out the glitter liners if you get a chance! i loves them! 🙂

I agree with another poster, tried both the green and copper on my eyes at Ulta from this line to see how they lasted and the flaked horribly! I have picked up neither so far… MAYBE if they go on discount at Ulta… but that would be my only reason so far to get them… or on evil bay.

aw sorry to hear it bunny 🙁 also Smashbox will have them on sale I’m sure. Wait until Spring ;-D
