Smashbox Pro Waterproof Second Skin Concealer Review and Swatches

I’m in a constant battle with dark circles, bane of my utter bloody existence. The makeup gods look down on me and cackle punishing me with not only dark circles but puffiness. I think I’m in more of a battle with the bulge (puffiness) than I am with dark circles most days of my life.

So of course I’m all about trying as many concealers as my make up life permits. I have about 25 different concealers that I rotate daily to see which gets me the most flawless look of all and I’m constantly trying new ones. Smashbox Pro Waterproof Second Skin Concealer is one that recently crossed my dark circle path and I’ve been having a little test with it this week and I gotta say for those of you with dark circles you’ll probably likey this little guy alot.

Check it!

A full coverage concealer that offers waterproof coverage.

Dark circles are almost always best banished by selecting a yellow based concealer. Smashbox Pro Waterproof Second Skin Concealer obviously knows that as the shades all lean towards having a heavier yellow base. Yellow is essential for covering really bad darkness and this works a treat at neutralizing darker areas with a very tiny dab. The formula is super pigmented and quite creamy in texture so a very little goes a very long way.

The texture is creamy and has a heavy feel to it however it glides on easily while managing to feel lightweight. The formula conceals problems such as redness, acne, scarring, etc….since it’s richly pigmented it works on many different woes. It’s name of “second skin” is quite fitting because the concealer adheres so well it feels as if it’s sitting on top of your skin and locking into place, like a second skin of sorts. You can easily walk a few blocks in the hot, humid weather, take a dip in the pool, or get caught in the rain without worrying about this fading, creasing, or caking up. In some ways it reminds me of Lancome Effacernes Concealer due to its ability to wear so well and for so long. It’s a concealer you won’t find yourself touching up as it simply remains in place all day!

The tube is pretty tiny (0.32) for it’s $26 dollar price tag but since you’ll be using a tiny amount each time, it should last for ages!

  • Anyone with dark circles (the strong yellow base will counteract darkness easily!).
  • Anyone needing to conceal tired, older eyes.
  • Women needing to conceal problem areas such as redness.

  • Anyone unwilling to shop online (this is currently available exclusively at QVC).

I’m a picky one when it comes to concealer but this was quite good. Honestly, it probably won’t take the place of some my other HG (holy grail) concealers but it’s definitely one I’ll reach for when I need extra long wear and more coverage. Those with dark circles will find the joy in this for sure as the dense formula is super creamy so it works great for drier eyes plus the incredible coverage isn’t half bad either.

You can snag it for yourself at QVC, Item Number A199223.

hmmm the formula sounds a lot like the KATE covering concealer for under eyes that I’m using right now. This one might offer a little bit more coverage though, but the price is also much higher. wow 25 concealers? that’s intense!

    • the Muse

mmm kate’s is a little more runnier makeup morsels and alot less pigmented 😀
