Stila Pretty in Paris Palette Review and Swatches

Ok, so, most of us agree that the new Stila Travel Palettes are all about the cuteness and the price but not necessarily the contents. I was a wee disappointed in the USA palette and honestly the upcoming Tokyo one is doing nothing for me either.

However, Stila Pretty in Paris….

You need it!

Jump!

A $10 palette from Stila that features four eye shadows and a convertible color!

The packaging gets props from me. It features a Stila Girl with the Eiffel Tower behind her. I’m all about bringing in the Stila girls. They don’t get nearly enough time in front of the camera lately so I absolutely adore that Stila has brought them back to be featured in the new Travel Palettes.

As you may already know Stila is releasing five total palettes all for $10 each, all for a limited time. Each palette features four eye shadows and one convertible color. I’ve noticed so far that the shades are new and possibly exclusive to these palettes. Pretty in Paris, like USA, contains a convertible color shade I’ve never seen or heard of before which is entitled Rosebud.

First off Pretty in Paris couldn’t be released at a better time as it contains some great Fall shades. Rosebud is a dusky rosy, peach shade that warms up cheeks and lips beautifully. The four shadows in the palette include Crepe (pale creamy pink), Cherie (dusky cranberry), Jolie (dirty brown berry), and chocolat (matte brown). As per our discussion in prior posts about these palettes, the shadows simply do not live up to the original Stila shadow formula. They are considerably different in both texture and pigmentation. I am happy to report that Pretty in Paris has way better pigmentation than USA and the shades came across rich although they aren’t as velvety-like as Stila’s normal range but still for the $10 price tag, I’d say they are pretty darn nice. I had no problems with creasing or fading and the shadows held true throughout the day.

The palette gives a warm, Fall vibe but not necessarily reminiscent of Paris in my opinion.

Convertible Color is a cream therefore things can get messy quick with this palette since there are four powder shadows living right next door to it. If you apply carefully you can avoid a hot mess happening however those who don’t like powder and cream combos in a palette may wish to skip.

  • Anyone wanting a full Fall makeup look for a mere $10!
  • Stila fans!
  • Fans of the Stila girls (yay for Stila girl packaging!).
  • Anyone who collects cute makeup bits and bobs!

  • Anyone who dislikes palettes that combine creams and powers!
  • Anyone who loves Stila’s eyeshadow formula (you may find yourself disappointed that the shadows are the typical texture you know and love!).

I think Stila did a great job with Pretty in Paris and so far, for me, it’s the best palette of the releases that are currently available. It’ll make a great Fall palette and is particularly nice for students who can’t afford a ton of high end makeup. I liked how the shades looked on my brown eyes. The palette on a whole is very flattering and well worth its price tag!

This one I definitely Muse Approve for purchase!

Completely unrelated, but I wish I could see more of the top you’re wearing because it looks so pretty and interesting up near the neckline!

    • the Muse

wow thanks margaret you’re super loving for saying so 😀 xoxoxo! It’s a Chinese kimono wrap shirt 😀 I’ll have to see about getting closer images for you! You’re a doll for noticing!

  • Danielle

I got this in the mail from Sephora yesterday. I agree that this palette is MUCH better than the upcoming Tokyo palette and a step above the USA palette. I actually enjoyed the USA palette and the colors worked for me. I do like Paris better. The shades are rich and the best part is the Rosebud convertible color. I wore this today along with Stila’s Kitten eyeshadow in the inner corner and I had a lot of compliments! I love Rosebud on the lips! I am very happy with this palette and for 10 smacks?! I would have happily paid $20–but don’t tell Stila! 🙂

    • the Muse

hey danielle! You’re lucky, USA was a tough one for me 😀 I’m really liking this one though! haha! I agree 20 wouldn’t be bad either, it was rather nice compared to USA and the upcoming Tokyo for sure!

  • Vonvon

Again I have to say the outer packaging is lovely…but the eyeshadow colors are OK for me only. have too many similar shades.

  • Joyce

Just found your site because I was googling reviews for skin food’s black sesame face mask. It should be arriving from sasa tomorrow and I cannot wait! Anyways, just wanted to drop you a note to say that I think your website is super fun and I cannot wait to read through it all! =)

    • the Muse

yay great haul joyce enjoy it 😀 stop back tell me what you think! 😀 Nice to have you on board here and look forward to speaking to you again real soon!

  • Stavroula Plag

Wow very pretty palette!! I love Stila! 🙂 Thank you for the swatches! 😉

  • Caitlin

    Hey Muse!

I bought the Stila It Girl Palette awhile ago and was totally bummed because once on the lid, all of the shades blended together to look like one shimmery eye shadow! Did you have the same problem with this palette? 🙂

    • the Muse

mmm yes caitlin this happened with USA as well since that formula was a tad chalky. This one, the shades are a little too similar to contrast well 😛 but they are def better than the USA palette imho!

  • sillylilacs

Packaging gets props from me as well, however, I’m not sure about creme next to powder. For obvious reasons, it’s going to get really messy, but I’m concerned about the convertible color drying…O_o

    • the Muse

convertible color dries out in compact so I imagine it’ll be killer in this but hope not Silly 🙁 heard you got the lashes from essence, your tweet is first on my timeline, YAY!

      • sillylilacs

Yea, amazing deal, but I don’t know if I will be getting it because I doubt I can just use up the convertible color before it dries =/

but I’m glad you got the tweet, there wasn’t a tweet back, so i wasn’t sure if it got lost or not lol but yea…I would take pictures but i can’t help but laugh when I see myself in the mirror when i have those lashes on!

        • the Muse

lilac CC is such a bitch to use up. I have several and they last foreverzzzzzzzzzzzz! sorry I’ve been awful at twitter lately, haven’t had a sec to get on but when I log on the approve new followers I seen it, sorry I didn’t reply, just been swamped forgives me 😀 awww they are so sweet!

  • LNU

I’m not feeling this palette after the flop the first one was, I’ll invest nine more dollars and get my self one of those new MUFE lipsticks! 😀

I’m so late on this train, but for some reason I thought you were from the UK. Then the other day you posted about Woodbury Commons and I was like…wait, what? Then I read your about me! I’m a born and raised New Yorker too! 😛

    • the Muse

oh I wish LNU 😀 When I get old and retire, it’ll be to the UK 😀 but for now native new yorker 😀 hehe. I think prob appeal most to die hard stila girls that enjoy collecting. So can understand your need to skip 😀

  • Leah

Ooh I’m liking this! Hope us UK gals get it too… for that price it’d be rude not to!

  • HautePJ

Ahh I am kicking myself for not picking this up during my recent Sephora haul. I just assumed it was dreadful like the first USA palette but your post has me rethinking. All the shadows in the USA palette were muted, yet all swatched as the same shimmery mess on me. But you are right, the Paris colors are perfect for fall and seem to have a better formula. I just hate it when $10 seems like a deal but you know the quality is not up to par.

    • the Muse

Haute wait for free shipping hun. They do deals and such every single Friday so get it next round 😀 It’s worth it imho. USA wasn’t so fab, I liked it for the price but honestly for the colors and such not so much nor the formula. Paris does tend to have the same effect with swatching as the shades come across the same when on your lid but they are still WAY better than USA and really nice for the price. Worth it imho!

  • Jovanna

I love this palette! The rosebud is the exact color of my lips. I was thinking, “great, another brown palette,” but had to get it because it is a great deal to try another convertible color that I’ll use, and sample some eyeshadows w/o the hefty price tag. Cherie is probably going to be my every day favorite! I’m shocked. I wear this so well, it’ll probably be my everyday palette, it works for SUMMER, and I line my eyes in Koi and it’s AWESOME! But I agree, the pigment is lacking in these palettes.

    • the Muse

ohhh pretty jovanna 😀 sounds like you found the same joy in the palette as me hun! It really is a nice one and the best of the lot so far 😀

  • Savannah

I didn’t know if you knew this but Zappos.com has the Stila travel palettes and the shipping is free, you don’t have to spend a set amount to get it. Thanks for the swatches, I’ve been debating whether or not to get this one to and I think I will!

    xx

    • the Muse

thanks Savannah that’s awesome :D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you’re most welcome glad you enjoyed the review!

  • Gabriela

The packaging is so cute!!! I would like that Stila would be sold in my country…

  • beautyjunkie520

This is my favorite of the Stila Travel Palettes–and also the most wearable for me. I love the colors and how it ties in with the fall season. For $10, the price can’t be beat.
