Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab Halloweenies Golletes Perfume Oil Review

A few years ago I wrote an article entitled Touches of Fall. In my long babbling post I gave you some details about “the Lab” aka Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab, I hope today you might revisit that post by clicking here if you are not familiar with the brand.

You may wonder why I’m directing you to the post.

Well, I recently got my haul of Halloweenie Perfume Oils from the Lab and I wanted to share a few reviews with you but if you never heard of Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab (BPAL) you might be a little confused how to purchase, what the product is, etc….the article I’ve directed to you covers alot of aspects of the company, what they sell, etc…..this will help when you jump ahead to read my review.

Halloween is near and dear to my heart and every year I look forward to the Lab’s release of Halloweenie Perfume Oils.

Today I’ll be reviewing Golletes for you!

Check it!

This is a tiny 5 ml glass apothecary jar that houses perfume oil, it’ll set you back $20. Some might feel like $20 is alot of money to shell out for such a tiny vial of perfume however you have to keep in mind it’s a potent blend of oil that has a very high concentrate of fragrance so a little goes a very long way and a bottle will last you years, particularly if you become addicted to BPAL in the near future and end up with MANY bottles of fragrances to choose from in your stash like me!

Why perfume oil?

Perfume oil has a longer throw and linger than any costly fragrance I have ever owned. Many companies, since BPAL’s early introduction, have tried to dupe the incredible formula of these oils but few have the throw and linger than the original. A simple dab on your throat and behind your ears will give off a beautiful throw of fragrance that lingers all day.

Golettes is described by the lab as a glazed pastry with pink sugar.

First sniff you’ll get an exceedingly sweet almost fruity note, a little touch of vanilla and an unknown berry-ish scent. When it touches the skin it reminds me, without a doubt, of Boo Berry or Frankenberry cereal, two of my favs growing up as a kid. The drown down becomes less sweet, less fruity and a bit more mellow, flirty, and pink. It seems to morph into a more sophisticated scent especially considering it starts out as a foody, fruity, sweet blend that some might fight overpowering. It has a touch of sugar and a bit of sweet vanilla with a tiny hint of berry and musk or at least that’s how it comes across on my skin, it will smell different for everyone.

I like it alot!

If you like sweeter, lighter blends and have the patience to wait for it to dry down and morph into something other than a bowl of crunchy berry cereal, you’ll probably adore it.

If you enjoyed this post do let me know as I hope to continue to review the other Halloween fragrances I got from the Lab recently.

i do love this post very much! you’re totally after my own heart in the fragrance department! i’m one of the ones who’s never heard of this brand and i read back into your old posts (thanks for that information – i’ve clearly been missing out!) This fragrance sounds amazing and i’m soo curious about this brand now!!

    • the Muse

jenna YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY I’m so so happy to introduce you to BPAL! ;-D I truly love fruity, sweet, foody items and Bpal makes some great stuff in that direction ;-D Plus I love unique stuff ya know? and they def have unique!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;-D

      • jenna

definitely with you on the sweet, fruity, foody scents! yum! funny fact: i’m blocked from viewing the bpal website at my office because it is flagged as “occult” hehe how funny. our browser guard clearly doesn’t have a sense of harmless dark fun jeez!

    • the Muse

<3 DD ;-D I know you've asked me a LONG time for reviews hehe! I def will continue ;-D yay!

  • Jenna

Thank you for this! This scent sound perfect for me and I am going to do an order.

Any tips for ordering from Bpal? I find their site a bit overwhelming.

    Thanks again, you rock!

    Jenna

      jenna my biggest biggest tips..

      1. don’t overspend

I do this ALOT with bpal! Try to keep your order to 5 bottles minimum and in most cases go with imps. LE items are not available in an imp but others are http://www.blackphoenixalchemylab.com/sample.html

      2. Research, research, research

They all SOUND gorgeous but believe me they end up smelling AWFUL sometimes. So be sure to visit the bpal forum where you can find a SICK amount of information and reviews on almost ALL the scents.

      Hope this helps ;-D

Also some of the best scents can be find in the Alice in Wonderland section. These are Beth’s babies and they all really smell amazing ;-D

  • Jenna

Thank you so much, that helps alot..I’ll check out the forums and try to narrow it down!

my pleasure Jenna! forums are REALLY helpful over there. I’ve been collecting for…mmm 8 years or more? And my first few orders with bpal were insane, just try to keep a lock on yourself, I’m awful at that so I dunno why I’m preaching LOL!

  • Bri

I wish I could like BPAL! I got like 6 or 7 one year for Christmas in the mail, and unless they ALL went bad they all had an undertone that made me nauseous, very old lady smelling. I wonder if anyone else has had that problem?

    • the Muse

mmm bri depends…what ones did you get from xmas? as xmas has really great foody ones, and some very STRANGE smelling ones ;D

      • Bri

Actually they weren’t Xmas smells, they were a variety of regular scents. IDK I’m thinking maybe it’s my nose lol Which sucks because man some of the descriptions are awesome

  • Storm

I adore BPAL! My order came Thursday but I was out of town and got my hands on it Sunday. They’re fantastic and sent several free imps. I’m loving the scents I got–even the freebies! The only one that doesn’t suit me is Bluebeard. This sounds delicious, Muse! I’m loving Punkie Night right now…and want to place another order but *shouldn’t*

Anyone new to BPAL should also note they are a small company and take a lot of time to process, pack, and ship…but once it is shipped, it is in your box quickly. And the forums are awesome, but it is important to know what scents you like. I’m a huge fan of anything with tobacco in it while the Mr. wears a lot with frankincense or tobacco. Not to say that is the limit or what we buy, but those are things we are attracted to. Happy Ordering to all! 😀

    • the Muse

Yay Storm! AWESOME! If it’s any consolation, Halloweenies are live well into X-mas at times ;-D gives you time to order. That’s true thanks for mentioning it Storm, it does take a few weeks to get.

I’m more a foody, fruity, sweet girl myself 😀

      • Storm

I know, I know. I need to make a wish list of things lol I have this great, old, cedar box I keep these in.. It is such an awesome conversation piece, in and of itself, and then when I open it to reveal the wonders of BPAL… Ah, I need to put the new ones up and not leave them out on the desk.

I like fruity too. One of my favs is TweedleDee. It smells just like Fruity Pebbles <3

        • the Muse

I wish I can keep mine in a box 🙁 I had to make a shelf for them as they grew out of the last box I was keeping them in. I have a little too many bottles *blush* :-D! but keeping them in a box is so awesome particualrly a nicely decorated one ;-D

TweedleDee is a fav of mine, wish I got fruity pebbles from it, DAMN! ;-D

          • Storm

it isn’t even decorated, it is just a beautiful, vintage piece that my parents had in storage.

What do you get from Tweedledee?

          • the Muse

it sounds gorg to me storm! tweedledee on me comes across cherry-ish with a subtly fruitiness.
