Garnier Nutritioniste Moisture Rescue Lightweight UV Lotion SPF 15 Review and Swatches

When it comes to skincare I’m doubtful many embrace the idea of purchasing within a drugstore, at least I don’t. However, the new Garnier Moisture Rescue Collection has changed my mind.

I’m a likey!

Jump!

A new light facial lotion from Garnier that locks-in moisture for 24-hours, blocks-out dryness, and has an SPF 15.

My love affair with Garnier Nutritioniste Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel Cream is going so well at the moment so I thought I’d try my hand out on the new Garnier Nutritioniste Moisture Rescue Lightweight UV Lotion SPF 15.

It’s basically the same concept as the gel cream but it has a lighter, creamier formula with SPF included. The formula runs towards being a tad on the runny side and almost SPF-like in nature due to its strong white color. It sports a similar scent as the gel cream which I describe as fresh, shampoo-ish like.

The texture is a tad watery but it absorbs easily into the skin and thankfully doesn’t leave behind a white cast as I was in high debate about this due to it’s glaringly white shade. It absorbs fairly easy and runs towards being a lighter facial lotion versus a full on facial cream.

I wouldn’t say it did much for my combo skin and I dare say it won’t do much for my dry skin either due to its lighter lotion formula. Where as the gel cream delivers moisture and locks it in, I can’t say that this produced the same results. I didn’t feel like my skin felt any smoother or hydrated after use aside from a tiny burst of moisture during first application. It absorbs fairly easy however it feels a tad greasy throughout the day, I’ll go ahead and blame the SPF in the mix.

Speaking of SPF I do feel it’s somewhat pointless to have such a low SPF in a product as I feel the need to apply my own SPF prior to application as 15 is, in my opinion, a tad too low.

  • Anyone looking for a light facial lotion.
  • Anyone who has normal skin (this could prove an ideal pick for anyone who needs a lightweight facial lotion).
  • Anyone living in a warm, humid climate (this is incredibly lightweight and won’t feel heavy on skin)!
  • Anyone who desires a facial lotion and SPF combined (but SPF is only 15).

  • Anyone who is in need of extra moisture for dry, tired skin!
  • Anyone wanting something lightweight and non greasy (this had a tiny bit of greasiness to it that stuck with me all day).

I didn’t hate this but I didn’t love it either. Out of the two releases from the Garnier Moisture Rescure Collection I do think the Gel Cream was the better pick of the two. This is lightweight and absorbs quickly however I did notice it kinda sat around on my skin a bit. As mentioned above I blame this on the combination of SPF in the mix. It’s worth a try if you’re looking for a lighter facial lotion for daily use and don’t like anything that’s too rich however if you’re in need of hardcore hydration this probably won’t deliver.

I have the regular face lotion w/ spf and at first I did like it, but randomly it breaks me out. No warning, and I never knew when the dreaded breakout would happen. I might give this liter version a go, hopefully my skin won’t do random freak outs with it and the price point on sale is quite doable.

I do like the eye cream w/ a SPF in it, it doesn’t irritate my eyes or run and held up pretty well while playing at the beach! Most importantly it didn’t travel into my eyes!

ugh sorry to hear it Jo 😛 I’d go with the aqua gel…seems soothing to me! Also could be the fragrance causing the havoc, as they are heavily scented. I didn’t try the eye cream…mmm sounds interesting 😀

It’s REALLY an excellent bb cream, it didn’t take any more than 1 min to blend in into my skintone (Prefectly), it’s really easy and handy to use, and my fav, no outbreaks but really maintained my weird oil secretion system!!! Is really the great thing to get it. I heart your post abt it, really good prdt. 😀

I’m so glad you reviewed this. I haven’t been able to find the gel yet and I was wondering if this would be comparable. Glad I didn’t waste my money!

a quick question… my skin is dry in the mornings (even when i moisturise the night before and immediately before i go out) and gets oilier as the day progresses, what skin category would that sit into? oily? or combination?
i only wash once with face wash (during the night) and in the mornings i just use water; and i use sorbolene as moisturiser >.<

  • Josie

Muse, i have super dry skin. I use to use the 24 hour cream from Garnier
but i think they discontinued it so this must be the new replacement.

Can you recommend something else from
Garnier or any other brand i can get in Canada? Thanks!

    • the Muse

      Hi Josie.

I’m not really familiar with what’s available in Canada. I liked the aqua gel cream from this line perhaps look out for that as I enjoyed it….? But I’m the US so no idea what’s readily available in drugstores in Canada sadly and I’m not a huge fan of Garnier skincare so not so well versed on what is or isn’t great from the line. You can check through my moisturizer reviews and see if anything interests you maybe?

      Hope this helps!

    Thanks for your review.
