mark Please Hold Eye Primer Review and Swatches

With the introduction of the 360 degree primer, thanks Benefit, I’m seeing more and more primers that try to act not only as a primer for lids but also as a primer for your concealer and a primer for your lids.

mark Please Hold Eye Primer not only promises to prep lids but also conceal darkness, cover dark spots, puffiness, basically the whole deal in one pot.

Does it work?

Jump!

A creamy primer that primes lids, conceals circles, and puffiness!

This is $8 bucks so if you’re been kinda sorta lemming Benefit Stray Don’t Stay but can’t afford it, this might be one to try out although it’s not as good nor is it exactly a dupe.

In some ways this reminds me of Art Deco’s Eye Shadow Base since it has that faint pearl-ish beige look. It has a slight shimmery glint that comes across like a faint pearl.

The product has a decent formula which is creamy, hydrating, and easy to blend. As an under eye concealer it’s not going to do you any major favors but if you don’t have super dark circles and only need a little lightening up around this area, this may help out in creating a more flawless finish. However, serious issues such as dark circles, puffiness, etc…will not be concealed or erased considering how very sheer this is in the pigmentation department.

For the most part, I think it’s safe to say, don’t expect miracles here.

I will say it acts in some ways like Benefit Lemon Aid as it brightens up my entire eye area however Lemon Aid does a way better job but regardless it still does do a nice job of erasing my dull lids and making them look bright and happy again!

As a primer it works great at laying a good foundation for shadow. Although creamy it still has a nice, silky finish that allows shadows to adhere well onto the eye plus it creates a nice working base and canvas for eye makeup.

However….

Shadows crease and cake up within an hour or less of wear so you’re definitely not in the realms of bulletproof eye makeup wearing here.

  • Anyone with younger eyes (Younger eyes that aren’t experiencing full on problems might like to use this as a way to brighten up their eye area but not conceal woe).
  • Anyone who wants a quick prep prior to heading out of the house (I use this when I’m running errands as it brightens my entire eye area up including under my eyes but it doesn’t conceal everything which makes it less than stellar for everyday makeup looks).

  • Anyone wanting a primer to hold their shadow on all day, around the clock (it creases and fades shadow out within an hour or less of wear).
  • Anyone wanting a primer to act as a concealer (it brightens up the eye area a little bit but won’t conceal major woe).
  • Only available in light and medium tones (although these two shades do cater to a wide range of tones, really darker skin types won’t be able to indulge sadly!).

Sadly mark Please Hold Eye Primer isn’t something you need to dash out and purchase right away. Younger eyes may benefit the most from it and older ones might wish to skip it. If you yearn for Benefit Stay Never Stray this might be a decent way to get your fix if you simply can’t afford the other but it’s not nearly as good.

Ok, for quickie preps and running around town but not good for hiding major problem areas or priming eyes for mega eyeshadow and eye makeup looks.

You probably don’t need it if your arsenal is already loaded with UDPP and a good concealer however those on a budget who can’t afford either of the two might want to try this out.

I’ve had this product for 6 months or so – I’ve just now hit pan – and I will say, it does conceal a bit (nothing spectacular, as you’ve said) but I have zero problems with it creasing! In fact, I use it daily, and it’s very good at holding the shadows, not creasing or getting oily lids, smudging etc. I guess it just works differently for some 🙂

Sorry to hear it Vicky. I purchased it and ended not loving it as much as I was hoping either, however those on a budget might find it slightly useful. I use Urban Decay Primer Potion.
