Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick Review and Swatches
Anyone prone to dry lips? I’m not actually. My lips are pretty ok so long as it’s not cold out. Once the cold weather sets in I’ll get chapped lips a few times as the season progresses, chapped so badly in fact I start looking like I drank some of the crazy kool-aid. One of those ring around the mouth situations, not pretty.
Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick is supposed to reduce lip dryness by 65% with a formula that features Hylaronic Acid.
Let’s have a look.
A moisture-infused lipstick that reduces lip dryness by up to 65% for smoother lips and better colour. Developed with SPF 18 and a cutting edge Self Adapting Moisture Complex that features Hylaronic Acid, Collagen and Vitamins A, C and E to nourish lips, leaving them with a smoother surface for better colour application and wear.
Props to Rimmel for such great packaging. Each lipstick comes housed in a rather pretty royal purple metallic tube. If you’re a packaging junkie these should appeal. They are rather lightweight but looking at them you’d never know.
Props again to Rimmel for creating such a vast catalog of color as well. You can get these in over 20 shades so you’ll have a wide variety of colors to choose from.
If you’re looking for a cheaper lipstick these should do you well at around $5.49 per tube but the formula didn’t really wow me. They do have a nice creamy feel however with a name like moisture renew I did expect a really moist lipstick that glided on and felt dewy. These are heavier feeling on my lips and don’t have a particularly hydrating formula but they don’t dry my lips out either which accounts for something.
The colors I tried all had very good pigmentation and plenty of color pay off. Shades I tried were Dusty Rose (dusty, brown rose with a cream finish) and Rose Blush (rosy pink with a cream finish).
The product has one of those standard drugstore lipstick tastes and smells, kinda rose but comes across really bitter and gross tasting.
As I said above I didn’t think they were incredibly moisturizing or hydrating.
- Anyone looking for a budget lipstick in a wide array of colors with a decent formula.
- Anyone who expects a super hydrating texture and formula (they have an ok formula but nothing to rave about).
These are ok price wise. They have a decent formula with great color pay off and nice packaging plus the price is in the friendly realms. They are better than some drugstore lipsticks I’ve come across but nothing that I got amazingly excited about.
Not bad but not exactly fantastic either.

Note: Sorry my swatches and photos include two Dusty Rose shades. I stupidly swatched and photographed thinking it was two different shades doh!
