Smashbox Baked Cheek & Highlighter Blossom Review and Swatches

Smashbox’s Fall Collection, Masquerade should be at your local Sephora. Have you seen it? Haul any of it? Wanting to? What did you think so far?

Along with the release Smashbox Masquerade Baked Fusion Soft Lights Palette was introduced which is a very pretty palette however a little overly done since Clinique has similar palettes and heck Smashbox has done and redone this style of highlighter before.

But…

We aren’t afraid of things that have been redone and I’m always of the mentality, as are most of you, that one can never have too many pretty powders.

Which is why I wanted to introduce you to Smashbox Blossom Baked Cheek & Highlighter which could prove to be a nice investment.

Jump!

A baked powder that can be used as a highlighter, eyeshadow, or blush!

Now Blossom could prove special because it comes in a kit which also includes Smashbix Lip Tech, Smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss, Smashbox Beauty in Bloom Eye Palette, plus a fan brush for $20 more than spending $32 on the new Masquerade powder.

It’s debatable weather you wish to invest more money on the product to get MORE…however, if you’re seriously considering dropping the $32 on the new powder might as well get the Smashbox Glambox and get a bit more bang for your box.

The Glambox was appealing however I wasn’t too keen on the shades of the eye palette so I ended up tracking down Blossom on E-bay for $16.99. Again, a steal compared to $32 plus I actually like it more than the Masquerade one.

Although Blossom mimics Clinique All Over Color Powders on many levels it doesn’t apply as frosty. Frost, as far as I’m concerned, is the devil’s work on my face. It does swatch a bit shimmery and frosty but it comes across as a beautiful shade of coral blush on my cheeks with hints of pink, cream, and beige. It kinda looks like a Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick but has a much better color pay off allowing it to act easily as a blusher.

The powder is divided into four squares which feature three strips of various color. Use them separate or swirl your entire brush in all four, it’s entirely up to you. You can use them on your lids, your cheeks, or just as a little highlighter on cheek bones.

One of the main reasons I love it is not only because it’s pretty to look at but also because it has a good color pay off sans the frosty finish I hate.

Some may be a bit swayed not to indulge since it isn’t part of Smashbox’s normal catalog, only comes in a gift set, and may need tracking down on E-bay to indulge.

  • Anyone looking for a powder to act as a blush, highlighter, and eyeshadow.
  • Anyone wanting to add a touch of coral to cheeks.
  • Anyone wanting more for less ($51 for this and a ton of other Smashbox versus purchasing a single Smashbox Masquerade Fusion Soft Lights at $32).

  • Anyone who doesn’t like purchasing makeup off evil-bay!

Overall, it’s worth tracking down in my opinion particularly if you’re a fan of powders like this. It’s actually one of the better highlighter style palettes I own due to its pigmentation and ability to act as a blush.

Very nice!
