Stila Lip Rouge Review and Swatches

Stila is on Hautelook today, super steals and deals chicas! One item that’s up are the Stila Lip Rouge which are $6 each, quite a nice little price down from the original price tag of…mmm..I believe $20 bucks.

I happen to be a mega fan of lip stains and these fit the bill for a great dash of natural color on lips plus hey, $6 bucks, can’t beat it.

Have a look at the swatches and review below and share what you hauled from today’s sale.

A lip stain with a super thin applicator!

One thing about Stila Lip Rouge that makes it a bit different from any other lip stain around would be the applicator. This is a super thin, precise point applicator which has a flat side end for applicator. Although thin it applies beautifully and allows you to line your lips as well if you want, but I wouldn’t suggest it.

They seem to work best when stored with the right side down as the stain drains into the tip faster and doesn’t dry out as quickly. This is a known issue with some stains and this is the best way to not only store Stila Lip Rouge but all lip stains.

Formula doesn’t feel particularly drying to me and wears a few hours before wearing away although I noticed that drinking or eating in between does make them wear away quicker.

I purchased four shades a while back ago during a Stila Vintage sale, I can’t remember the price at the time but I imagine it was between $6 and $8 which is a great deal.

Shades I got were Grin, Moue, Pucker, and Smooch. Smooch and Moue come across as the same reddish brown shade where as Grin is a mauve rosy shade and Pucker a bright reddish rose.

The stain doesn’t wear as long as some of my other stains but you can get a few hours of it locked on before it fades away however during that time definitely stay clear of food and drink.

Not sure if you need to indulge in all the shades as they do come across the same once on lips however at $6 I’d indulge without guilt!

  • Anyone who enjoys a natural pinkish or rose pout.
  • Anyone who wants something to amp up their lipgloss (wear it under gloss for some punch).
  • Anyone who likes a long wearing lip product!

  • Anyone with dry lips (this may not wear as well on dry, cracked lips).
  • Anyone with older, maturer lips that are dry (this may bleed of feather if you have finer lines on or around your lips)!

At $20 I’d probably haul one as I adore stains but at $6 I think several shades are in order at this price tag. Lip stain lovers will definitely enjoy these and the interesting precise point applicator and anyone looking to boast up there gloss wearing will definitely find the joy in application of a little stain prior to gloss application.

Quite nice, particularly at this price.
