They call it a 6 piece set but counting the brushes it actually comes out to 8 total pieces. Broken down you’re paying $4.99 per product counting brushes or $6.66 not counting the brushes. No matter which you splice it, it’s a deal considering you’re getting a full size Tarte Cheek Stain, full size Tarte Eyeshadow Trio, full size Tarte Lipgloss, and full size Tarte Mascara. The only items that are mini in the set are the eyeliner and brow mousse. Obviously, do the math, it’s a steal.
If you’ve used Tarte before you need no introduction to the brand particularly if you’re a fond fan of greener formula makeup. Tarte leaves out a wide range of ugly ingredients such as parabens in their makeup mixes making it a green, good for you makeup choice.
This particular set goes with warmer shades of color which will prove wonderful for Fall but if you choose to go with the auto delivery on the set, you’ll get brand new seasonal shades every few months.
The Tarte emphasEYES Amazonian Eye Shadow Trio contanins Matte Light Pink, Shimmering Sand, and Burnt Bronze shades. Pretty simple application with this as you’ll use the light pink as a highbrow highlighter and all over color wash, the sand on lids, and the bronze on the outer corner of the eye blended out. Tarte has some great shadows that have nice pigmentation and a silky formula that blends easily.
Fans of Tarte Cheek Stain will really adore the shade that comes with this set. The shade is entitled Perfect Rose and is a warm golden rose that lights cheeks up beautifully. It’s been a while since I indulged in a Tarte Cheek Stain and I’m quite impressed with the revamped formula as it’s not as melty as the original and has this beautiful sugary lemon scent! Gorgeous! It blends dreamy and creates a perfect glow on cheeks however it does need minor touch ups throughout the day as I find it doesn’t last all day on me. The lipgloss included in the kit pairs up wonderfully with this as it’s a warm shade of golden rose as well.
Another product I haven’t used in a while is Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes. I’m a fond fan of the older version and honestly the new version gets just as many props. It’s a standard bushy brush applicator but the formula seems extra inky and creates a pretty nice fringe of lashes. In some ways I feel like it performs very Dior Black Out on me! (I’ll update shortly with before and after pictures, sorry I forgot to do them duh!).
I’ve been wanting to try Tarte emphasEYES Amazonian Shadow/Liner. I love the idea you can use this as a base, shadow, or liner. So far I’m wearing it today sans flaking, smudging, or raccoon eyes. It applies much like any gel liner creating a good solid line with your first try so no need to go back to fill in any gaps. It’s pigmented and glides on with a buttery smooth feel. I haven’t tried it as an all over lid shadow or base yet but I imagine it’ll be fantastic. The shade I tried Blackened Plum was a bit odd to include with the warmer shades in this set in my opinion so I did two looks one with the liner one and one without just so you can see the difference. Tarte recommends lining with it and smudging on the bottom lash line after shadow application but I felt a little too made up but doesn’t mean I can’t take advantage of using the liner with other shadows if not the trios included in the kit.
And finally the introduction of Tarte emphasEYES Amazonian Clay-Infused Waterproof Brow Mousse. I personally have stronger brows and do not need to fill my brows but anyone with sparse brows will find the joy in this. It comes in several shades (you get to pick the shade that suits your brows best for the kit) and can be applied with dual end brush included with this set.
Overall, the set is a real steal and is well worth over its $39.98 Today Special Price tag. If you want it you can snag it now using item number A210964. Tarte includes step by step instructions for application plus just about everything you need for a complete look. What’s not to love?
(Complete look using the entire set)
I’d recommend it for purchase particularly for Tarte fans!
