Tarte Amazonian Clay Passport to the Amazon Set is on QVC right now. I told you about the QVC Today’s Special Value late yesterday, well it’s on! So if you want it best grab it because the price of $39.98 ends tonight at 11:59 PM.

Jump ahead for the review and swatches!

The kit is $39.98 and includes:

  • Tarte Amazonian Clay-Infused Cheek stain in Perfect Rose
  • Tarte emphasEYES Amazonian clay waterproof shadow/liner in Blackened Plum
  • Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes! Mascara
  • Tarte emphasEYES Amazonian Clay-Infused Eye Shadow Trio in Matte Light Pink, Shimmering Sand, and Burnt Bronze
  • Tarte emphasEYES Amazonian Clay-Infused Waterproof Brow Mousse in Taupe, Medium Brown, or Rich Brown (Brand New, World-wide Launch!)
  • Tarte Vitamin-Infused Lip Gloss in Paradise (exclusive to QVC until 12/31/10)
  • Tarte Double-Ended Eyeliner Brush
  • Tarte Double-Ended Brow Brush

They call it a 6 piece set but counting the brushes it actually comes out to 8 total pieces. Broken down you’re paying $4.99 per product counting brushes or $6.66 not counting the brushes. No matter which you splice it, it’s a deal considering you’re getting a full size Tarte Cheek Stain, full size Tarte Eyeshadow Trio, full size Tarte Lipgloss, and full size Tarte Mascara. The only items that are mini in the set are the eyeliner and brow mousse. Obviously, do the math, it’s a steal.

If you’ve used Tarte before you need no introduction to the brand particularly if you’re a fond fan of greener formula makeup. Tarte leaves out a wide range of ugly ingredients such as parabens in their makeup mixes making it a green, good for you makeup choice.

This particular set goes with warmer shades of color which will prove wonderful for Fall but if you choose to go with the auto delivery on the set, you’ll get brand new seasonal shades every few months.

The Tarte emphasEYES Amazonian Eye Shadow Trio contanins Matte Light Pink, Shimmering Sand, and Burnt Bronze shades. Pretty simple application with this as you’ll use the light pink as a highbrow highlighter and all over color wash, the sand on lids, and the bronze on the outer corner of the eye blended out. Tarte has some great shadows that have nice pigmentation and a silky formula that blends easily.

Fans of Tarte Cheek Stain will really adore the shade that comes with this set. The shade is entitled Perfect Rose and is a warm golden rose that lights cheeks up beautifully. It’s been a while since I indulged in a Tarte Cheek Stain and I’m quite impressed with the revamped formula as it’s not as melty as the original and has this beautiful sugary lemon scent! Gorgeous! It blends dreamy and creates a perfect glow on cheeks however it does need minor touch ups throughout the day as I find it doesn’t last all day on me. The lipgloss included in the kit pairs up wonderfully with this as it’s a warm shade of golden rose as well.

Another product I haven’t used in a while is Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes. I’m a fond fan of the older version and honestly the new version gets just as many props. It’s a standard bushy brush applicator but the formula seems extra inky and creates a pretty nice fringe of lashes. In some ways I feel like it performs very Dior Black Out on me! (I’ll update shortly with before and after pictures, sorry I forgot to do them duh!).

I’ve been wanting to try Tarte emphasEYES Amazonian Shadow/Liner. I love the idea you can use this as a base, shadow, or liner. So far I’m wearing it today sans flaking, smudging, or raccoon eyes. It applies much like any gel liner creating a good solid line with your first try so no need to go back to fill in any gaps. It’s pigmented and glides on with a buttery smooth feel. I haven’t tried it as an all over lid shadow or base yet but I imagine it’ll be fantastic. The shade I tried Blackened Plum was a bit odd to include with the warmer shades in this set in my opinion so I did two looks one with the liner one and one without just so you can see the difference. Tarte recommends lining with it and smudging on the bottom lash line after shadow application but I felt a little too made up but doesn’t mean I can’t take advantage of using the liner with other shadows if not the trios included in the kit.

And finally the introduction of Tarte emphasEYES Amazonian Clay-Infused Waterproof Brow Mousse. I personally have stronger brows and do not need to fill my brows but anyone with sparse brows will find the joy in this. It comes in several shades (you get to pick the shade that suits your brows best for the kit) and can be applied with dual end brush included with this set.

Overall, the set is a real steal and is well worth over its $39.98 Today Special Price tag. If you want it you can snag it now using item number A210964. Tarte includes step by step instructions for application plus just about everything you need for a complete look. What’s not to love?

(Complete look using the entire set)

I’d recommend it for purchase particularly for Tarte fans!

  • addicted_j.t.

the one with you wearing liner is beautiful! it faaar outshines the one without. you do NOT look overly made up 🙂

  • Nina

You look great! Thank you for the pics and swatches, cool that you get to post them ….ON THE DAY. !!! 🙂 I ordered mine in Taupe last night on A/D. Bad me, I should be saving for all of the great Holiday stuff coming…..! Couldn’t resist since these were all new products and the shades look so wearable. I didn’t do as much damage as I could have with the recent Bobbi Black Velvet or MAC Felines, so I guess this is my September “splurge”. Thanks again.

    • the Muse

thanks Nina!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! xoxo! I was pushing hard to get them posted for today 😀 I was busy today and was going to wait for Monday to do this post but I really wanted you guys to see the swatches and get in on the $40 deal 😀 so I def pushed it hard to get it up for ya ;-D thanks for taking time out to notice hehe!

      Aw you’re most welcome babe!

      Enjoy!

Tell me whatcha think when it arrives?

      did you get auto ship!?

I ordered auto ship. I got this to test out but I’ll be giving the one I get from my first shipment as a gift and than keeping the other two shipments for me hehehehehe!

  • Nina

Yeah, I got Auto Delivery—-perfect Berry and perfect Mauve, I think, coming up. The colors sounded gorgeous.

  • anna

    This set is really cute.
You know, Muse, you said you were going to review the body shop fall blushes, i’ve been waiting for that review. what do you think about them? are they worth it?

  • MC

The colors look so pretty on you Muse! I love the cheek color the most. 🙂

I am on the fence with hauling it though…the shadows look like shadows that are in the UD Naked Pallet (which is now my holy grail of go to shadows). I love the rest of the set as the brow color would work perfectly on my brows, the liner is GORGEOUS, and the cheek color is calling me in a hither to voice…”Buy me Robin..Buy me…you know you want to….”

Oh inner makeup demon voice…do I listen to you or to my angel counter part lol. (Don’t mind my babbling…I was out celebrating FNO in Manhattan and had waaaaaay too many free drinks lol.) <3

    • the Muse

aw thanks mc you’re too kind! mmmmm I think the shades are considerably lighter compared to the UD palette. LOL! yay for FNO! 😀 I think you should listen to the voice saying buy me…buy me LOL!

  • Rose

That liner is gorgeous!!!! The pic of the pot makes me salivate!!!

I tried sending you an email, but it wouldn’t got through. I was hoping you could reply to me though!

First of all I just want to say that I absolutely love your blog! I’m from Sydney, Australia and I follow your blog religiously, checking it everyday! I’m going to the U.S. in November this year and I was hoping you could enlighten me on some make-up related things! I am absolutely DYING to get to a Sephora and maybe an ULTA to snap up some goodies that you lucky folks can get so easily, that are so expensive here! Namely Primer Potion, Shadow Insurance and the Naked Palette (I’m praying it will be available again when I’m there!!!). I’ll be there around the 16th to the 27th. I keep getting told that there are amazing deals on Black Friday, and I was wondering if this was extended to Sephora and ULTA? Do they offer store-wide discounts at all? Particularly in the products that I’m interested in? Or do you think I should get them in the days before I leave, and avoid the shopping madness? 🙂 I appreciate any help!! If you could email me back that would be great! Please continue the amazing work! I look forward to your response!

    Rose x

    • the Muse

hm weird rose where did you send the email?

Thanks so much for following me 😀 so glad you enjoy my babble *hugs* 🙂

Ulta will prob have some great deals for Black Friday but Sephora I haven’t really seen a whole lot for Black Friday perhaps 10% off if you are a VB Member?! But I can’t really verify just making a big assumption 🙂 Sephora doesn’t offer store wide discounts aside from a friends and family event once a year in October or November where everything is 20% off aside from that occasionally things are clearance on the site and offered at discount but they don’t have store wide discounts, normally things are full price with some specials like 10% off or bundled makeup gift sets which are full price but have alot inside them to be considered a discount 🙂

I’d get them before if you wanna avoid insanity in Manhattan on Black Friday hehe.

      Hope this helps!

thanks so much for the great comment! your feedback means the world to me!

  • RonyaLii

when i saw first photo i though- wow, something nice for nature , like nature friendly packaging
second photo – plastic .. i dont get it . why someone needs to call that Amazonian and put nice pictures on that , even wooden eyeshadow case , but wrap that up in plastic packaging ?

  • Storm

VERY nice! Super pretty look. We know I’m not one for nudes but this almost swayed me.

  • JoElla

Okay I caved and put this goodie (on AD) on check status.

they only had the medium brown brow moose, hopefully it will be dark enough for me.

    • the Muse

hey jo! yay! I thought this would be very you ;-D! Our next shipment of Bobbi should be arriving soon too squee!

  • Betty

Thanks for this post-now I am looking forward to receiving mine- I ordered and went on auto delivery as well. I think this is my favorite cosmetic website-all of your reviews are great!

    • the Muse

aw thanks betty! You’re lovely 😀 HUGSZ 🙂 I think you’ll be happy with the AD! It’s a great deal for under $40!

  • Anina

I really do love how pretty that palette is. The details on things like that make me want to buy them even if they seem like the colors are too light for my skin!

  • Becky

What a great value, those look fun. I just love sets. I really want to try the cheek stain, I haven’t ever tried Tarte. What I really want the most out of the set though is the mousse.. curse my sparse eyebrows!! So… can I buy it from you?? hahaha 😀

    • the Muse

      Hi Becky.

the entire set is available on QVC for purchase hun. I don’t sell anything here, just review 🙂

  • Amber

I saw Marlena do a review/tutorial on youtube right about the time you posted this. I bought it as a birthday gift to myself, mostly for the brow mousse and cheek stain. I have been addicted to your site since I found it but it is hurting my wallet. 🙂 I do love the informative reviews and glimpses at new products (high and low end) I might not otherwise know about.

    • the Muse

hi amber awesome 😀 awwww shucks so glad you enjoy my babbling! :_D It’s always fun learning about new makeup but totally can relate about your wallet being lighter lol sometimes I create my own lems!

  • Chloe

I got a free sample of Lights, Camera, Lashes and I loved it! Did they totally revamp the formula, or is it just the mascara within this set?

Cuz if so, then I’m all over getting that mascara!

    • the Muse

depends which lights, camera, lashes you are using chloe. I used the old one, volumizing version, in the leather casing…this is quite different from that version.

  • Alex

Wow! I just discovered your blog through Google and I’m so excited! Thank you for all the awesome reviews ^.^
I have pretty dry skin and dark circles, and I’ve been trying to find a concealer for a long time :(. I’ve tried CG, smashbox, neutrogena, boi-ing, YSL…nothing works. Some of them do, but nothing lasts longer than a few hours. I’ve been using Stay Don’t Stray/Erase Paste/Revlon photo finish powder, but it still cakes and looks weird. Do you know any concealers I could try that’ll last and cover? I feel like powder makes the caking worse, but without it everything comes off.

  • Eli

This is what I call a deal, sadly there’s no QVC here 🙁 I was wandering whether you could do a review of all tarte cheek stains you possess, I’m in a serious trouble having to choose a shade… In fact, it’s much more complicated, I’m split between Benefit box-o-powders, tarte, and even stila’s convertible colour! Help!

    • the Muse

I only have one other one Eli. Sorry I can’t be of more help. Benefit’s version are powders so really it all depends on you and which medium you like working with best cream, powder, or gel 🙂

    • the Muse

hi bonnie it’s not longer available at this price but just use the item number to get it at the original price if you still want it. listed the item number in this post but here it is again if you missed it A210964.

  • Eli

Oh, I thought you had loads of them 🙂 I love all kinds of texture – as long as the staying power is great.

    • the Muse

nope Eli. I used to have quite a few but used ’em all up. Now only have this one and one other.

        • the Muse

haha yup eli! the older formula used to be a bit more melty as well so I used to run through them super fast. plus they were a go to for Summer makeup last year, that added to the fact they were gone really fast. I had about 4 shades I think?

  • Eli

30 bucks for something which goes away really fast… Well, that’s a drawback, seriously. Do you remember how long did they last? I need something for everyday use, so this might turn out to be a problem.

    • the Muse

my pleasure eli! the product is considerably more dense compared to past versions so it’ll last a longer time plus a little goes a long way. You can dab a sponge on it or your fingers, it doesn’t need to applied from the stick if that makes sense and doing these application methods makes it last longer 🙂

perhaps get the set as the stain along is $28 I believe.

      • Eli

Unfortunately there’s no way I can get the set, but I’m checking regularly for some e-bay deals (this would be my forst order via internet, so excited :). Tarte is’n available at all here 🙁

        • the Muse

aw sorry Eli 🙁 Def keep checking as people tend to break qvc sets up and resale on evil bay

  • PoisonKitty

JUST received mine today in the mail and I’m sooooo excited to use it tomorrow!!!! I debated and debated and finally bought this last week when Tarte e-mailed me about the QVC deal. I am in LOVE with Tarte cheek stains and lip gloss. Now – tell me about this auto-delivery thing? There are more sets like this coming out?!! Please – do tell!!!!! ☺

    • the Muse

Hi Kitty! AWESOME ;-D Enjoy it hun! Auto delivery was a one time deal during the Today Special Value. You ordered once and they would send you a new shipment every three months for the same price with different shades.

      It’s sadly gone now 🙁

  • Jeanine McAuliffe

You look gorgeous as always! So this set looks great love the palette and i use the brow mousse it imo is so much better than dipbrow..it matches better and is not as sticky! Have I been living under a rock..they changed their mascara? That’s my staple go-to mascara..uuggghh why do they change the best products?!!?

    • Isabella Muse

you are too kind Jeanine! 🙂 This is a really old post, the mascara didn’t change 🙂
